Totally pointless and a waste of time. In a just world, the plot would have backfired and taken Billy off canvas for a spell. But nope. Just a womp-womp ending to a crap yet overplayed story.

Another gem worth watching: Sidney, Paul Newman, Diahann Carroll, and Joanne Woodward in “Paris Blues”:

They love to get Billy out of his clothes. You’d think he was Malcolm Winters or Brad Carlton.

He was renowned for his regal nature and breaking down barriers, but his sex appeal was really underrated. He could have a very sensual presence. Just part and parcel of his humanity and talent.

I don’t know what they’re doing with Devon. It’s one thing to give him a sense of regret, or if they really pushed the idea that Abby and Chance were neglectful parents. (Or if Chance was having PTSD that made him potentially dangerous. They’ve toyed with it.) But this makes him look terrible, and the resulting drama isn’t strong enough to be worth it. The surrogate story has been an albatross for all involved.

It’s too stupid for words. Granted, the whole story was stupid, so it’s a blessing that it’s over, but this is the pattern. Dumb sh!t drawn out, then abandoned. Jason Thompson deserves better because he’s actually doing good work. In service of bullsh!t.
