  1. I agree. If it’s just a bunch of ticked boxes, they can keep it. I do wonder what tone the show will strike. They have a character who’s a “self-aggrandizing influencer” so I’m sure it’ll include a lot of topical humor. Lots of things about the U.K. original and the Showtime version probably wouldn’t fly today. And seeing men have sex with each on screen isn’t as novel as it was 20 years ago. I keep hearing they’re aiming for a spring release on Peacock, so I guess we’ll hear about it soon enough. Maybe! Not sure.
  2. Her character is described as a “martini-soaked, high-society Southern debutante with trailer park roots.” She looks amazing. I’m super excited about the reboot. It’s pretty much everything I’d want in a new QAF: more diverse, not just a revival of the Showtime series. Writers with a strong pedigree beyond just campy dramas. Some great, well-known actors in recurring or supporting roles (KC, Ed Begley, Juliette Lewis). An interesting, very gay, culturally rich setting in the Deep South (New Orleans) and not another show set in a tired coastal city (NYC, LA, SF).
  3. It’s on Peacock now. The first three episodes of Season 4 are up. (The first three seasons of RHOM aired on Bravo years ago before it was cancelled. Those seasons are on Peacock as well, but you don’t need to watch them.) The second episode of the S4 relaunch features Julia and another housewife planning an art show for Martina’s paintings. But, just a warning, Martina is only in one scene so far (she and Julia are showing looking at their beautiful new house—Martina does seem fun and up for the show, unlike some celeb spouses on HW series). But Julia’s featured a good bit (alongside her kids from an earlier marriage to a man) and she talks about how she and Martina fell in love circa 2000.
  4. Martina Navratilova’s wife Julia is a cast member on Real Housewives of Miami, and Martina is featured in the latest season premiere.

  6. B&B cannot maintain quality for longer than a few weeks so I’m waiting for the f*ckery. The weak Shauna aside, B&B needed new Ridge/Brooke contemporaries in the mix and has for many years, so even though Deacon, Taylor, and Sheila are technically *old* contemporaries, they are addressing a key structural problem on the show. Another spin on the $Bill merry-go-round would have been beyond lazy (and they should ship DD back to Y&R).
  7. I’ve been very impressed with Kimberlin throughout this stint. She’s given Sheila a lot of interesting layers as an older woman. She doesn’t overplay her scenes or strain for an effect. Her friend chemistry with Sean Kanan is wonderful. Deacon bonding with Hope over self-defense training was a nice touch a few weeks ago. B&B should give us more scenes like that.

  10. It’s a pretty generic list, even if you could quibble with the placements. Annie Dutton (GL) might not have aired as long as most of these, but I think I’d replace Kristen with her. An old thread with some interesting choices:
  11. IMO, that’s the best they’ve done in a few years, especially with the graphics and choices of clips. What losses we had in 2021. Thank you for posting this.

  14. Soaps are meant to be open-ended, but many of them would have been better off ending before they became shadows of their former glories. Setting aside the jobs that would have been lost and other concerns, if you had to pick a moment in your show’s history to wrap things up prior to its cancellation (or at any point for the four surviving soaps), what would you choose, maybe with a few tweaks to bring people back and honor the show’s history? Perhaps it would have been the death of a character like John Abbott’s on Y&R. For GL, I’d probably select Annie sending Reva to her “death” on that plane in early 1998. The show was never really the same for me after that (there was a lot of bad stuff in previous years, but that was the last hurrah for me).
  15. Some set/BTS/offset photos from New Orleans, including Kim Cattrall and Ed Begley, Jr. This is definitely a blacker and browner QAF. The first pic is of the showrunner Stephen Dunn and Kim 😄 @Johnpossible to update the title since it’s on Peacock?
