Saw this follow-up:

It really does feel like they’re leaning into a light, family-friendly vibe. Like the viewers are too delicate for anything heavy. I’m glad we didn’t get a Devon/Abby custody battle—that wouldn’t have done anyone any good—but this show will tease a bit of explosive potential drama, then immediately defuse it.

I think they feel like they are honoring real Y&R. It used to be a great way to have all sorts of dissimilar characters mixing it up, working in different roles that highlighted different sides of characters (Dru modeling, Ashley in the lab), backstabbing, and forming alliances. But they’re no longer able to properly dramatize these stories. Jabot doesn’t even have a set. Most of the business happens at lunch, which ok. But it’s a lot of tell and no show.

Quinn being MIA feels like a missed opportunity with Brooke unraveling due to the kiss with Deacon and Paris crushing on Carter. Brooke and Paris are women who’ve gotten on Quinn’s bad side in recent months, and she’d be eating all of this up.

I totally agree with that. Unpopular opinion, but they would have made Elizabeth Leiner (Tara) work too.

Wait so is Craig on DAYS having an affair with a man, supposedly ? I get that KS is out now, but…

There used to be an art to a BI with hints and puns, but they clearly don’t want to alarm their soap contacts. But yeah most of these could be anyone. #2 did jump out to me.

Another dead kid for Devon. It could all have been avoided. No reason to have dragged him into this. They really need to do a better job at demonstrating Chance’s trauma. It’s been a characterization/story/acting fail.
