  1. I haven't been able to watch lately, so I'm following along by reading recaps and SON threads. Is Smitty supposed to be the next Ronan Farrow writing a longterm investigative story?
  2. Yes many judges are standing up for the constitution and the rule of law, thankfully! The problem is that some judges are caving, especially the majority of the Supreme Court.
  3. the interview is now on spoiler thread here.
  4. This all sounds awful. A rapist character "redeemed" by having amnesia, and then memories returning but wanting to change? That's a "no" from me.
  5. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/the-young-and-the-restless-exclusive-matt-clark-can-absolutely-be-redeemed-head-writer-says/ Quoting a few excerpts from JG: “This is a way of kind of recreating and reinventing the character,” Griffith notes, “through a total loss of memory of everything that he’s done and then having to learn what he’s done and [exploring] how can that impact him going forward.” it is possible for Matt to turn over a new leaf. “Of course he can,” Griffith says. “Absolutely — if he not only shows remorse but atones for his sins, then sure, yes, there is redemption. But the key is atoning; the key is action.” (re: Sharon) “I think that she’s going to be the holdout for a long time of A), ‘I don’t believe he’s telling the truth, I think this is all a ruse, and B), ‘Even if he is telling the truth, he’s a monster.'” “He has lost all memory, but as his memories slowly come back to him, we’ll see him shocked by what he has done,” he reveals. And getting his memories back won’t necessarily get in the way of the redemption arc the show is unfurling. “If he can remember but if he doesn’t fall back into that person — if he can remember but atone — then he absolutely has a future [on the canvas],” Griffith declares.
  6. oh, right, I might be confusing two separate things. When I said Camila said she wanted to start a family so she wanted more time off than they would give, or something vague along those lines -- I remembered her saying that, but not when. I'm not sure if she said that regarding her pre-Covid exit (and then she later returned) or if she said that for her final exit.
  7. I saw the posts at the end of the May thread about the Bikini bar, so I watched the May 25 and May 26 episodes yesterday. Surprised to see al the extras! Interesting how they just skipped weeks of boring build-up !!! The show just dove in with a few conversations at Bikini -- establishing that Deacon had bought the Bikini Bar; this was the grand opening; Deacon and Taylor are relationship-public, Taylor supported this new business venture for Deacon; ~~ AND ~~ Sheila moved out, and there are divorce proceedings, and this all already took place off-screen. LOL at Finn absorbing all this information as he (and the viewers) learned it. I mean, viewers wondered why the show never showed what happened after Sheila learned of the Taylor/Deacon affair. Odd, but whatever. Kind of interesting that the show just covered it all in a conversation. But I guess that's better than months and months of the plot dragging on when Brooke was feeling guilty about inadvertently misbehaving New Year's Eve (or some holiday) when Sheila had secretly spiked or switched Brooke's nonalcoholic wine bottle with alcohol -- or whatever that was, I chose to forget most of it. Anyhow, I liked the bar scenes in the two episodes I watched. Fun new energy.
  8. I swear he's a clone!
  9. There were complaints against the abusive producer A. A***r (whose name I will not type) for harassment, made by several members of he cast, crew, and staff, per detailed reporting by Deadline over a few months. My understanding is that the accusers (cast/staff/crew) never identified themselves publicly except for Zucker who went public. The actresses who left -- they left for various "reasons" that were given, not mentioning the abusive producer by name. Camila said she wanted to start a family so she wanted more time off than they would give, or something vague along those lines. I don't know if it was ever stated why Lindsay Arnold left or was laid off? All we know for sure is that, over one or two years, several actresses left, and we can guess why. I assume they had valid legal reasons for not discussing it.
  10. Thank you for posting this, I didn't see that storyline and had no idea. All I had seen was website summaries saying "Paul married April for the baby" but no details. It's these details and all the layers that matter. It's the layers and nuances of character situations, that are missing nowadays.
  11. hope they wouldn't do that. I mean it's the Neil Winters Jazz Lounge, with his picture on the wall. It would be very disrespectful of the show to get rid of that set.

  15. I poste this on another thread, on May 20th. in reply to someone mentioning he "max users" error: I said : quoting myself from May 20: I've gotten this intermittently today and last night. (from desktop Windows PC, Chrome browser). When this happens, I refresh the page, but then it displays weirdly and suggests that I use the SON app. I ignore that and refresh the page again and it works fine. Edit to add, I think it said SON has an "app", but I wasn't aware such a SON app exists? I didn't take a screenshot of that -- if it happens again, I will. End quote: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Update, it has happened a few times since then. And again last night. Here's more info: Occasionally (rarely), when I refresh the page after getting the "max_users" error, the screen displays HUGELY. I tried making screenshots last night but the display was so huge, that it would have taken me at least 10 screenshots scrolling down to show it all. It was so big that one of the icons was bigger that my entire screen. My sense is that the "browser display format for phones" (vertical) was trying to display on my desktop PC (horizontal), and it was magnified a gazillion times. Each time it's happened I tried to screencap it, but it was so much that I gave up. Then when refreshing again , it reverted to normal display. Yeah I think the vertical phone display was trying to show on my horizontal-screen PC, and that's why it was suggesting getting the app -- an app for my phone. When it happened last night, this time, I scrolled way down to see what it all said and I saw this. This is apparently the error I got each of the times there was the weirdly huge display, but I hadn't scrolled all the way down when it happened before. This is the error I got last night when scrolling down the huge display -- I positioned the scroll so I could screenshot it:

  19. Yeah it's all generically upper middle class to wealthy on most of the daytime soaps, except for BTG.
  20. "This is Us" was a primetime soap (not promoted as a soap but instead promoted as primetime serial drama, similar thing, different promotion). To me, the characters felt like real people. Edit to add: The three adult siblings came from a working class family. Viewers saw them going back and forth through time as children, teens, young adults, and people in their thirties. Certainly the parents were working class. Mandy Moore played the mom, and she did great with her portrayal. Her character's parents had money but she didn't take the money. Milo Ventimiglia played her husband, who was a war veteran, struggling through various jobs in the construction business. The three adult children: Justin Hartley's character was an actor so by definition had money. Sterling K. Brown's character was a financial advisor but he had relatable struggles. Chrissy Metz's character struggled through various jobs and eventually became a music teacher.
