Wow. What sad and shocking news. Palmer and Opal were always my favorite couple when tuning into AMC. My condolences go out to his family and friends. :(

He looks terrible in all those photos! So unMalcolm. Especially the photo with Kristoff. GMAFB. Can you imagine him romantically with Rowell? God. Kill me now.
  3. Help me pick up an international soap

    Posted 14 Dec 2009

Well, I tried to find a cable company that would allow me to watch the African soaps, but that's not happening. Now I'm thinking I need to pick up a British or Australian soap. I saw a few weeks of Home and Away when Tammin Sursok was on it and I saw a tiny bit of Neighbours when Holly Valance was on. I have very little memories of either. What is the tone like? Or either worth checking out? Any notable stories unfolding?

With the British soaps I've only seen Hollyoaks, which I've watched on and off since Kirkwood arrived. Right now it's just too dull for me to attempt another try. I've been thinking Emmerdale and I've always been interested in Coronation Street, but it seems difficult to get into. Any particular stories of interest on these two? I do recall seeing Eastenders when it aired on BBCAmerica and it did nothing for me so I won't try that one.

Whichever soap I choose I plan on going back at least two or three months so I can get a good grasp of the characters. I may just have to watch one week of each to make a decision. It depends on the responses in this thread! :)
  4. Suds Report: JILL LARSON back on contract!!

How exciting! I never guessed it was her when I read that they were going to put someone back on contract so they could come to LA! That is great news! Jill Larson is a gem and has been wasted and I was so sad to see her dropped to recurring. Hopefully they dig up her cute old opening credits shot and put it back where it belongs.

I must say I'm getting excited about this LA move. That is a move in the right direction.
  5. Musicals

    Posted 30 Nov 2009

I've always been biased against musicals for some reason. I love classic films, but I just won't watch a musical. The only one I saw growing up was Funny Face (is that the name? With Barbara Streisand as Fanny) and it was because I was forced for school. I watched Refer Madness due to my love for the original film, but it didn't inspire me to seek out others in the genre. Recently I've been watching more older films and am thinking of watching some musicals. So far I've seen Gentlemen Prefer Blondes which I loved. Next I have Bye Bye Birdie, Sound of Music, West Side Story and South Pacific that I plan on watching. I'm also considering Carousal which sounds interesting.

Any musical fans out there? If so, what are your favorites? Any ones I should stay away from? Now that I think about it, I have seen Rent and thought that was terrible. I find I'm more afraid to watch modern musicals more than anything. I hear Chicago is great, but some of the cast members annoy me so I haven't given it a chance yet.
