Random question: Approx. how many writers in daytime are people of color?

Michele Val Jean

Susan Dansby

Charlotte Gibson

I'm not sure about any others but those are the ones I know.

Yeah, I was surprised to see that she was black as well. Oh well, I think ABCD has a problem and it starts with the top.

Susan Dansby writes for ATWT, I can see that.

Charlotte Gibson another ATWT and wrote for AMC during 1997-2001.

Interesting that ATWT appears to have 2 black writers.

I wonder are there any Asian or Hispanic writers on US Soaps.

If ever you are watching GH and think, "Oh, this is a really well written and good episode," chances are Michele Val Jean wrote it. That woman is genius. She tried to ingratiate the Taggart/Campbells but it didn't work out thanks to McTavish and she wrote Liz's rape.

I'm loving what I read from her. Glad she stood up for herself.

She's an intelligent, upfront, unapologetic African female....

so, of course, she is crapped on.

Add Michelle Patrick to the list.

Word, word, word. Yes please!

Add me to that list of seeing more of the friendships vs only romantic-ships. There more to life than a romantic interest. Friends are forever and romance though all consuming at times isn't always forever and your history is lost if it isn't with a friend. Or some such thing like that.

I love Matt and he definitely can play a solo part. Jen and Frankie can go to Africa.

Only Salem needs an attorney badly so maybe John Clarke can see his way to come back on a limited basis.

Sadly if DAYS drops her at least we know she will be in the soap circle which means there is a chance she can return.

She wouldn't be out five minutes before every other soap out there would be beating a path to her door. She'd get snapped up by another soap in a big hurry!

I can't wait to see what she and Hogan bring to Days.

Add Judy Tate to the list as well.

Here's an idea for Brian Frons: Quit sulking in the corner because Boof ditched ABC, get off your ass, and look for other [!@#$%^&*] Boofs out there. There are others! I get the feeling Frons and Brad Bell and Lynn Latham and everyone is going to be fighting for this woman and completely ignore the fact that there other [!@#$%^&*] Boofs out there. Nobody got a clue after ATWT's success in hiring Hogan Sheffer though so I'm not optimistic.

But Y&R did exactly what ATWT did! Lynn Latham is best known for her work on Knots Landing and she left Port Charles YEARS ago. Instead of recycling a tired soap writer, they got someone who'd taken a break and is fresh and ready with a strong vision. Her not getting [s.W.S.N.B.N.] isn't going to hurt her. She's got Josh Griffin and a very solid group of writers to work with.

I'm torn on what the ABC soaps need to do. They are so far gone quality-wise that I've 100% given up on them EVER being good again. If they decide to replace their headwriters, I think I'd prefer to have experienced soap writers at the helm. Something like with Latham, a good rested writer who has already proven him or herself. I think it would be too much presure to have a complete newcomer running the show, ala David Kriezman at GL. The writing staff could be filled out with new talent, but I'm not sure they could run the show at the beginning. You have to know the history and many other factors for it to work.

Lynn Latham has proven to be an incredible asset to Y&R, and honestly I'm happy for the show and its fans. Though I don't watch it often enough to be a true "fan", its an incredibly acted and written show, and LL is quite capable.

I'm just beyond ecstatic that Days has not one fresh mind but TWO fresh minds to guide the show through its next chapter. Hogan was the savior of Oakdale, and he, along with [!@#$%^&*], will be the savior of Salem.

Nice interview! I read on another forum that she was fired from Days. I guess this was one of those many internet spawned rumours.

Anyway, when Hogan Sheffer begins writing on the show, how many writers will there be?

Well, I'm thinking Beth is his second brain so I'm not intrigued with the turn of things right now and hope change for the better is on the way.

Add Judy Tate to the list as well.

I don't understand the controversy here. As long as any writer keeps Steve Nichols on my screen on a weekly basis I'm happy.
