Is there room for Jermaine Rivers on BtG? Perhaps as a brother for Bill or Ted.

I would love that.

It’s bad there’s a tiny part of me that does hope there’s been a massive coverup at least for Damian’s death and he’s still alive.

Perhaps JG’s successor will reveal this along with Chance being alive once Cane is murdered by crazed Juliet in that Veronica Landers style story I proposed last month?

Having a back from the dead S/L for such a minor character like Damien who has been on the show for about all of 5 minutes would NOT be entertaining and would certainly add to the ridiculousness that has already taken place.

Holden was always the better of the 2 new men they brought in this year anyways. If they were gonna kill any character I’d rather it be Damien. I didn’t feel he added much of anything to the show.

I would bring Chance back but I’d give it a couple years. Killing off a legacy character was dumb but I’d rather move on from this BS as soon as possible after we get some good scenes from Nina and Jill.. (who am I kidding, we probably wouldn’t even get that).

Hand in hand with the atrocious writing is the non existent budget.

Of all the soaps it's insulting that the #1 show is done so cheaply.

There are few sets, with the restaurants used constantly. But no money for extras, so they are like ghost towns. For some reason, Crimson Lights suffers the most. Often there are no customers.

A few other sets are utilized, but due to restrictions they are then seen repeatedly for multiple episodes, so everything has to take place at certain locations.

The decision to focus on business with few office sets.

Most characters do not have homes so again stories are limited.

Only a handful of characters appear in each episode and often the same conversation continues throughout the episode, so things don't progress at all and the pace is turgid.

Lake of time means scenes are unimaginatively staged so characters don't move around much. It's very static.

No budget for extras, day players and recurring characters. There are no servants, staff, assistants etc. And children are not seen.

So the focus on supposedly uber wealthy business people is not supported by anything onscreen.

And it means the story focus is pretty much limited to the same characters who have been on the show for decades and are worn out. The only option for those characters, if they must stay, is to put them in new situations with new people but there is no money for that so variations of the same story play over and over.

The most disappointing thing is that the ratings are holding.

I remember tuning in after many years and Nick making a mention of Christian. I had no idea who that was since I've never seen him. I had to look up the character out of curiosity.

The introduction to Christian was around the time I stopped watching as a full time viewer (2016ish). It was that awful s/l where Sage’s baby (Christian) was given to Sharon by some psycho therapist lady from Nick’s past and then Sharon went off her meds and decided to keep Christian as her own. If I remember correctly Patty was also somehow involved while Sharon was in Fairview and it was just a big mess.

The storylines were BADD back then too but the show still felt like it had some kind of budget atleast. Now it’s just bad and cheap.

This was also around the time there were two Jacks and Jack was with Kelly. My memories are fuzzy but yeah, I remember thinking to myself.. am I watching Passions or Y&R? These kind of stories don’t belong on this soap. I love the occasional psychopaths (Cameron Kirsten, Tricia Dennison, Veronica Landers) come to mind, but they really started to take it too far.

Surprised they would kill off Chance, a (sort of) legacy character, the grandson of Phillip Chancellor. And why bring back Cole just to bring kill him off?

OK Claire, you really think you can take on Victor?

Hayley Erin is no match for EB.

Yeah Y&R was in a really bad place in the mid 2010s... well it still is.

The Nick in a JT mask mess was the stupidest of the stupid.

Ohhh yes, that’s precisely why I stopped watching for a long time around that time period. Sad to see it’s gotten worst, just in different ways. It’s bad for a plethora of other reasons now, which in a lot of ways feels way more detrimental to the show as a whole.
