I'm in an optimistic mood today, so I will say that I look forward to the day when they SORAS Ace, and Laura and Kevin have to deal with the spawn of Esme and Nik.  It seems like Laura was missing from big chunks of Lucky and Lulu's life, so it will be fun to see her struggle with child-rearing at an advanced age.

Also, TIL that Jeff Kober aka Cyrus was once married to Kelly Cutrone of The City and Kell on Earth fame.

WAIT! WHAT???? Just when I was starting to feel that rushed feeling about Jason's return...we got THAT twist. Let me hit myself in the head because I really should have thought about that. And just ironically as I was sitting here watching Anna with Molly thinking how is the Jason/Dante stuff so weird to her given her history of being a double agent. It should be clear he might be. And that THAT happened? lol. But why would John be doing all this? So...intriguing still. I guess I'm happy that it was a quick gradual, but I liked it was gradual the town finding out that Jason's alive.

I liked how Danny has been roped into the whole Jason storyline. No wonder he got so much screentime before. Well-played. That said...I don't have access to DAYS and had only see pictures of SB's time over there. I always felt that tattoo was fake. But...it's REAL??? Lord Baby Jesus. That's all I'll say about that.

So happy to see these Lois/Sonny scenes. But as I've already said, I do like having Lois back and sticking around. At least until the wedding.

Also happy to see Blaze's mother still around as well. Let's see where that story goes.

Speaking of where stories are going...that Laura/Heather scene. I know it pre-dates my birth...but Laura and Heather were actually friends once? REALLY??? Why have the writers never tapped into that in all the Heather appearances over the last few years or so. I never knew.

Yes, I liked Ms. Wu sashaying into Curtis's bar. And giving Curtis the tea on the shooting. It's funny how that random shooting is turning into this big umbrella storyline. It's been a minute...perhaps Peter's last death?

Now I'm wondering if they are going to take Curtis's dad's storyline and give it a twist as well.

ETA: I almost forgot. I had to hollered at the swiftness in which the writers broke up Drew and Carly. I know everyone take about how Drew get treated when Jason comes around. And I was sure he would get thrown under the bus again. But the fact Drew was dogging his own self off, but telling the truth about how they treat him when Jason is around so he cut the cord QUICK. I couldn't help but hollered. As if the writers read these pages.

I admit that I like having Charlotte around because she gives Elizabeth's kids something to do. And I was liking her story under the scab writers. But with the new writers NOW here...well...is that Lulu on the phone???

I definitely would like to see more of Rocco for sure. Which again could include Charlotte, too.

We know I love all of Elizabeth's kids.

I would say in time. Something the writers apparently realized. And are doing the gradual (and old school to be blunt) thing...as they should if they want anyone to be interested in seeing teens. I don't expect big story...YET...it is not even summer hehe, but at least a presence enough that we as an audience get used to them. And THEN...story. Again...old school. Which of course was my point.

I agree about older teens as well. But again...in time.

I never want to see Luke and Laura in a scene together ever again.  Ever.

I like Laura with Kevin and I don't think they're boring at all. They feel real to me.

I don't think the adventure thing was the real Laura.  That was simply Laura-with-Luke.

I think Mayor Collins is the real Laura, and I stand by that.

My main objection the writing for Laura in the past year: how she was stupidly defending Esme.  Laura should be more savvy than that.

TBF, Laura still has her adventure moments and it still feels organic.

For example...her reintroduction per GF's schedule as a disguised nun (with Kevin as back-up which I thought was cute and ties into Laura's adventure past) to save Valentin from Victor's Charlotte trip.

Thank you!  And wouldn't you know, on the very same day I made that comment, guess who's playing husband and wife on a "Murder, She Wrote" rerun?  Yep, Dean Butler and Genie Francis.  (I totally forgot about that episode, lol.)

Me neither.

Kevin, the black whisperer, is a nice steady presence and I like that Laura is the lead in that relationship (seriously it's so rare on this show for the woman to be the driving force of story in a relationship) so I've accepted that they're in it for the long haul.

I think it's definitely the most effective use of her, especially when she doesn't have any of her children on canvas. Typically without much family around you get placed on the backburner but as mayor Laura gets to consistently be part of the action without having to be in constant personal crises.

Don’t worry, Dex. You can do so much better than that subhuman skank

Idk about this storyline. Joss always knew what life Dex was a part of. Had to have known that Sonny could’ve asked him to kill someone at any time. Plus, she’s been an obsessive psychopath over him ever since she’s known him. Trying to kill Cyrus is the straw that breaks the camels back?? Please

She’s insane. And I hope she’s hurting right now because she totally deserves it

    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.
    • I'm glad a lot of people are continuing to enjoy this show.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.
