With just over a month to go, it doesn't look like there is any big event/story planned for the 50th.

Unless it is being kept under wraps.

Looks like the most we can hope for is most of the cast at the Not so Grand Phoenix for 'a shocking announcement that will change lives forever'

And at this point the only “shocking announcement” I would accept to shake up the show would be an alive and well Dru revealing herself.  Not likely at all lol and I’m quite sure JG would screw it up by making it boring.

Take today’s episode. Sure we had a fun moment where Daniel fired Phyllis, the whole Jack/Kyle betrayal fight could have been at least had a bit more tension, but instead it felt so lifeless as the air was sucked out with Adam’s “Hey guys please stop fighting I really didn’t want to work at Jabot anyways”.

25 years ago on Y&R I knew the whole Veronica Landers as Sarah the clumsy maid was bad hokey soap yet I was at least highly entertained by it. Here we are 25 years later there’s barely any soap happening and it’s probably the most boring thing on daytime since Jean Holloway’s 1979 failed tenure at Love of Life. Just sad.

I didn't mean that you knew. My apologies. It's just we have discussed it often in DAYS threads and with the Y&R Count thread a few months, I'm seriously wondering.

And they have to have Victor in some capacity for the anniversary. It would be weird otherwise.

Partial broadcast disruption alert in western US:
Tues. Feb. 14, and Wed. Feb. 15
Tues. Feb. 21 and Wed. Feb. 22
due to European soccer tournament evening matches being broadcast live in USA.
This might affect either Y&R or B&B (or both soaps) depending on your timezone (Mountain,Pacific,Alaska,Hawaii)
The soaps are still airing, and not officially preempted, so if you miss an episode, your local station might air it at at different time.  Or just watch the epi on cbs.com.

One my guilty pleasures is counting the mistakes in Lynda Hirsch's weekly soap summaries.  I've always enjoyed Ms Hirsch's column, and consider her a valuable resource for soap fandom, but her editor is the worst.  Can you spot this week's error?

To paraphrase Mark Twain, "reports of her passing are greatly exaggerated".  She produces a column every week.  Although, I have no idea what newspapers still publish weekly soap summaries.  This week's paragraph on GH made me feel dizzy after reading it.

Yes, Victor needs to be part of the 50th anniversary.

For the 25th anniversary there was some buildup to a big story. For the 50th anniversary there seems to be nothing. Y&R feels so hollow and empty.

2-6

I totally forgot that the Friday cliffhanger was Shirtless Nick finding out Sally also slept with Adam and it could be his baby. lol.

I admit while I continue to hate on the WTD storyline, I do like that the writers are playing it smart with Nick in that so far...he figured out that Sally was preggers and now he figured out Adam could be the dad. Both before she told him. That fact that due to his own history as well as being a father period, he just...knew. I kinda like that since Nick normally is played well...dumb?

Yes, Tucker. I can't wait for Ashley to get back, too.

Outside of that, I hope we see Jill IN town versus that computer screen. Though I love seeing her. And Devon vs Lily continues to be the main thing keeping my interest. And she still wants to work with Daniel. Hmmm.

RIP Chris Robinson- his Jason Frame was one of AW’s better villains.  Jason’s murder mystery was one of AW’s best- practically the entire cast was a suspect!

    • She might be using Anita like she planned to do before. If so, I suspect Tracy is not in on it. I'm not sure if this was revealed yet - I didn't watch 6/11 yet.

    • I feel like they have already been rested as it is. I've rarely seen a cancer story for a major character treated as casually as it was with Alfie. I would probably write him out and have Kat on her own as they seem to have no ability to write for a serious Alfie or to rein Shane in.
    • I hate to say it: but, at this point, I'd marry off Alfie and Kat, and then rest them off-canvas for a period of time.
    • Oh, I hear what you're saying. People these days will follow anyone whether they have substance or not.
    • @Liberty City @MichaelGL I could believe the possible spoiler about another landlady as Kat seems likely temporary/placeholder to me.  I don't hate the idea of Kat being in the Vic, especially as the overhyped drag parody that is Elaine (even if they have belatedly tried to humanize her) and dullard George and his dull children do nothing for me. I just wish Kat was in a stronger place. They have shown so little of her in the last few years in stories that should have been stronger than they are, and it's not just because of Jessie's suspensions or injury breaks.
    • Yep, when Kim was bonked over the head during the harrowing tornado, she was in love with that grinning, happy, big-haired Dan who looked as though he belonged on The Brady Bunch.  (Reilly) By the time she finally regained her memory fully and shook herself free of John Dixon (didn't she get pregnant with Andy during all of this?), she was stuck with that sad-eyed, grouchier Dan who'd been Dan several years earlier (Colenback).  The Bolivia trip was probably the switchover.
    • I'm clinging to the fact that it was Jill in charge when GV last got "treatment" from GH. Praying he has no reason to blame Frank. Love2Hate Drew seems multiple choice: redemption or discovery of his not-Drewness which means they've got Drew tucked somewhere, probably where NotBritt has been kept. I have only one thing to say about JJ. Clearly he has a future in PR or politics. Who knew he could tell a tale so well?
    • That was such a mess in general but barely felt like it was about Monica. Hopefully her funeral will be.
