There was a write-up in one article that got misinterpreted, and then the misinterpretation got inadvertently further reworded by other sites into something inaccurate.

The original intent was to mention that new episodes will be added to to the already-existing library of episodes that have already been posted on Peacock.

And then completely separately, to mention anecdotally, as a aside, as in "oh by the way", there have been over 14,000 episodes produced.

Here is the original NBC Universal Peacock press release:
https://www.nbcumv.com/mediavillage/interactive/2929fed4187b40648b79a9839e70e91fproduct169208/index.html#/show/841e7af7-d958-474c-8e21-c8047418274f/press-releases/0c7e043f-07b1-4f7a-998b-85b08acd1f0a
(The press release starts where it says "DAYTIME DRAMA ‘DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ MAKES HISTORIC MOVE TO PEACOCK - Breaking News August 3, 2022".)

The Wall Street Journal tried to summarize the press release, saying:
In addition to the new episodes of “Days of Our Lives,” Peacock subscribers will have access to the lengthy library of past episodes. In 2020, the soap opera surpassed 14,000 episodes.
Free archived copy of that WSJ article: https://archive.ph/vsN4d
The WSJ wrote two unrelated sentences separately, but put them next to each other in the same paragraph.

Then other news organizations and websites saw the WSJ, and read it hastily, and misunderstood it as saying that a library of 14,000 episodes will be available to view. That was never the intent, but it was apparently easily misunderstood.

So then one or two other sites wrote their own articles (incorrectly) saying that there would be 14,000 episodes uploaded to Peacock, and the incorrect info spread.

Each of the actors have been making videos asking viewers to switch to Peacock.  Robert Scott Wilson just did one and he said "Having Peacock means you can catch up on DAYS from the past season."

And, that's a mentionable because since July 2021 Peacock has had 2 seasons up & they mean to keep on with that much, in case people thought that would be cut back, which it won't.

I for one still wish they would dally in some past classic DAYS but that's all that is, wishful thinking.

So my aunt came over to visit and she's still lost with the move. I told her exactly what to do but she didn't want to watch it on her phone. I told her that she could watch it on her TV.  Problem she has no WiFi to view it on her TV.  I'm sure many are in my aunt's shoes.

The transition I'm sure are giving people headaches.

She doesn't own one. She only has a phone with internet. She's going to check if she can find a deal on internet so I can install peacock for her on the TV. She's not tech savvy and neither is her son because I had to explain it to her after explaining it to him to help his mom out.

I'm sure she could buy one but she wants the full tv view like she's always had. I told her that she had only September for the $1.99 deal. So if she can't get WiFi by then Days Of Our Lives will lose a viewer. She hasn't watched since Friday when it went off the air.

No that wouldn't work.

She wasn't happy with the move to Peacock.  She won't pay 4.99 a month for it. So she's hoping to get her Wi-Fi problem solved before September is over.

    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
