I honestly would pair up Jason and Carly to get maximum impact.  But I would definitely have amnesiac Nina/Sonny hook up.  But no baby lol.

Jax/Carly wouldn't be as fun because Jax vs. Sonny has been done to death.  Jason vs. Sonny I can get onboard with.

Why would they even tell Chase about the affiar without the results of the paternity test??? Chase wouldn't even need to know all that should the test come out negative.

How come Jason gave up Jake because his life was too dangerous but had a kid with Sam?

Can they move forward with either puting Jason with either Britt or Carly, or a volatile triangle of some sort.

That’s what I thought about Chase — no reason to tell him at all until the paternity test came through. I hate stupid writing that makes the characters stupid. The acting was limp and without energy except for Josh Swickard.

Speaking of limp, Michael is boring beyond words.

Gotta love it that Sonny has amnesia but is so skilled in other areas, such as with swap shops and poker. Amazing guy.

Haha about Chase.   It's totally a situation where they have no definite answers, but let's just blow your life apart in case a 1 night stand led to a baby.

Michael and Willow are like a Xanax, Sominex, and Ambien combined.  And Wiley is so messy! They spend entire episodes picking up his toys.

Umm..have you not been watching this show since 1995?  Of course Sonny has all the skills.  Some amnesia isn't going to bring him down.

There’s another angle the writers don’t seem to have considered yet with the whole Peter mess... they need to get Frisco back on the action. Firstly because of his role within the WSB (he was heading it last time I remember), not to mention that he is also Maxie’s dad!! If there was anybody who would have a vested interest in protecting Maxie from Peter, it’s Frisco!

Anna did get an angry phone call from Frisco so at least he was acknowledged but I agree they could have done more with Frisco (even if he remained off screen). He could have been in cahoots with Liesl Obrecht to expose Peter but perhaps not fully sware (or turning a blind eye) to her methods of doing so (by brainwashing Dante).

Yes! I mentioned it Friday because it made the scene with Maxie sound so ridiculous. Why is he whispering? What's that choice about?

Anytime I want to defend WR because people are so mean to him, he just reminds me that, nope.
And as I often say, I don't blame him entirely: actors SHOULD try stuff and even the best actor will sometimes attempt something that doesn't convey the way they were hoping but that's down to the director to say that whispering stuff isn't working and cut it out. That's what directors are for!

i fully agree. Do daytime directors EVER give notes to actors? Do the EVER tell them ANYTHING?  Wes Ramsey’s choices have been strange and ridiculous and all over the place, and apparently no one tells him anything.

GH is guilty of this, and so are the other soaps.

Yes. I have been banging that drum for years that soap directors seem to have gotten so focused on blocking for the technical side and fancy shots so they can bring of a visual style that they forgot they also should have a role in molding the performances and directing it
Without rehearsals it is hard to know beforehand but the minute the first segment is done and you saw an actor try this kind of stupid performance trick, you need to immediately tell them to dial it down the rest of the scene.

We don't need Peter's spawn

We don't need Valentin's spawn

And we don't need Brando's crazy mother back.

Glad to see Brook Lynn back though. She was needed on the canvas. And I do kind of like the chemistry between Brando and Sasha.

William Lipton's still killing it. The kid needs an Emmy for sure. But as much as I liked the scenes between him and Xander, I do really hate that the show continues to diminish the relationship that Lucky had with Liz's boys.

Because we spend so much time criticizing WR's acting choice I'd like to stop and take the time to offer appreciation for Kirsten S'.
These scenes are a bit jarring because his affect is very different from hers (I blame, again, the director for not trying to harmonize them) but taken in isolation she delivered her calm coldy determined performance very well and I thought she was very good

    • I know they were popular, but once they tamed Van's shrew, I thought Billy just brought Van down. Since they had just Nola and Billy sitting around in 97, an interesting thing would be if they had developed a friendship that turned into something else while Van was "dead". Maybe Billy lives at the Boardinghouse (to work on repaing his relationship with Bill) and works at Company instead of the stupid diner. Nola and Bridget give him a job there and Nola and Billy (who had originally been a bit antagonistic) slowly build up a relationship and then Van returns. A returned new lease on life Van would return to her "high hat ways" and take on the Spaulding's for control of the company with Billy helping her behind the scenes.  I know that Jordan was on sporadically because of his issues and them not know if they could trust him not to fall of the wagon, but they could have done it slow..and give Van and Nola a new reason to get in each others hair (I love a good Van/Nola tussle.)

Perhaps it wasn't the most well-played match in history, but that's something no one will remember in a few years time.
    • The thing with Martin (for me) is that he should have been Anita and Vernon's kid. I honestly think he would have been fine being an older or younger brother to Dani and Nicole. It also would have made his relationship and kids feel more realistic. A handsome salt and pepper late 40s/early 50s congressman who settled down and adopted kids to fit an image for politics. Not that he didn't want this lifestyle but it is what he needed to do to get ahead. Also, we don't often get older characters playing LGBT roles not just on daytime but across most media. It would have been a refreshing take. As an alternative, Sam and Ty could have been Martin's kids from an earlier marriage a la the NJ governor that was outed. We could have also seen parallels between Vernon and Anita thinking back to how they handled Martin coming out compared to the way they accepted Chelsea.  As for Martin being Nicole and Ted's kid, I do wish in this case he was not tied to a marriage and kids, so that he could date and sleep around like any other character on a soap.  Yeah, I didn't get it...but what I did get is that girl is a bit crazy like her mama.  Vanessa and Joey talking about the poker table...get these people off my screen.

    • Unpopular opinion, but I didn't think the show should have reunited Billy/Vanessa at all until the final stretch of the show. When watching the 1989 episodes when both Vanessa and Billy return after being off the show... I liked that Vanessa had moved on from him and that the show was hinting at her wanting to reunite with her first love Ross while looking down at Nadine for being the one Ross was dating.  And I loved the twist where Billy and Nadine teamed up to keep Vanessa/Ross apart.   This was an interesting concept that sadly the writers dropped with the show deciding to make Vanessa pine over Billy between 1990 and 1993 when they finally reunited.   To me, Vanessa pining over Billy seemed out of character. At least once Billy was carted off to prison in 1994... she and Billy divorced and stayed divorced until the final months when they finally found their way back together.  During the years when they were divorced, I liked that they had maintained a friendship and connection.. with viewers (like my late mom) wondering if they would ever decide to make it work again. I wish the show had tried that with Josh/Reva because by the time of the final episode when they rode off into the sunset, I didn't care because we'd been through the make up and break ups between them for over 10+ years by that point.
    • I break down the primetime soap era (start of Dallas to end of Knots Landing) as  Up to Spring 1982: Building the foundation. Fall 1982-Spring 1985: Peak. Fall 1985-Spring 1988: Tanking. Fall 1988 onward: Off the rails plus budget mode. Of course individual shows vary and I've broken down each show in their threads.
    • I’m ready for Portia and Curtis to divorce and get it over with. Portia cheating with Isaiah would make for a fun love quadrangle with Jordan.
