B&B to air classic episodes

Today's "classic" episode reminded me why I was fading out of B&B around this time. Boring, cranky, miserable Nick Marone took over the show, Stephanie became inexplicably pro-Brooke, and the beginning of the Logan revival led by unfortunate recasts of Beth and Stephen.

It shows how inconsistent the writing was.

I remember Nick being pretty disgusting and gross, and here he's a prude.

Yesterday Brooke was flaunting her sexuality and Stephanie was offended, but today Stephanie is supportive and supposedly Brooke was talked into it.

Bridget was in love with Nick, but here she's worried Nick and Brooke won't get married.

They basically turned Stephanie into a rape facilitator to prop Brooke and Ridge. Having Stephanie tell him "don't take no for an answer" was so over the top and disgusting.

I have no idea how Flannery stayed on that show as long as she did.

I wonder now whether it's due to B&B losing the rights to some soundtracks that there are so many episodes missing from the official YouTube channel. They changed music during Brooke's Bedroom presentation (and the closing sequence - originally there was Dionne Warwick's song played), Katie and Bill's wedding and in episode #953 they removed scenes between Clarke and Sally to make room for Thorsten Kaye and leave only the scenes with the original four. When Brooke and Eric started to make love there was also different track used originally. Funny!

Well there was that period in 2006 where the B&B cast boasted the likes of Jack Wagner, Lorenzo Lamas, Antonio Sabato Jr., and Mario Lopez

You guys crack me, but it's true: B&B's choices are soooo randomn and hideous. Not only do most of these "celebs" fail to have any celebrity aura about them but some episodes like the Bob Barker one are just TERRIBLE. It's hard to believe that even thought they now go beyond 2012 for their "classics", yet most of them have been utter failures. And B&B is usually spot on with such stuff because for years we had LOADS of flashbacks to truly classic moments on various occasions. Brooke and the fight for BeLieF, Sheila&Lauren and the hot tub fight, Sheila holding the Forresters at gunpoint, Brooke giving birth to Bridget or Hope, Sheila shooting Taylor, Taylor coming back from the dead in 2005. The list is endless!?

The only really good episode next week is going to be the Betty White one. And they could have reaired the entire Ann Douglas storyarc - and it would have been amazing. Sigh!

In 2005/2006 there were some craaaaazy out of character plots with characters surrounding Brooke: not only was Nick suddenly a prude. Not only did Massimo suddenly hate Brooke. Not only did Miss Goody Two Shoes Megan/Brooke's assistant, suddenly turn against Brooke out of love for Massimo!? Not only did Brooke suddenly be super desperate to be with Nick when he was only obnoxious and lost all his beginner's appeal from 2003 for good.

Plus Lesley Anne Down of NORTH AND SOUTH and Patrick Duffy of DALLAS fame.

Completely agree. It seem to everything that happened to Brooke during that era was done for pure shock value from Ridge’s non-consensual sex with Brooke to  having Taylor pregnant with her egg to her children being take away to her by rape by the stooge Stephanie setup. Just awful.

Haha I did like the Megan twist. I had a liked Down on Sunset Beach and initially liked Jackie but then they tried to make her Sally 2.0 and her and Brandon Beemer’s character good god.

Didn’t Massimo always have a problem with Brooke? It was because of him she fell out of the Eiffel Tower right?

the 1998 episode sounds promising although I could give two hoots about Usher....i wonder how much his residual check is worth??

    • You’d think he would’ve learned after the way Sprina took off.  I hope we get a proper Emma/Gio/Trina/Kai quad, as friends, romantic rivals, etc. In the few scenes that the four of them have had together, I felt like there was a natural chemistry between all of them, similar to the way that Cam/Spencer/Trina/Joss was, in the beginning.  And, it would be a lot better than all this stuff with Kai’s surgery.
    • Hooray we made the exact same critique to Londonscribe!!!!!
    • I don't think they had any idea who he was this time last year. I think they were keeping their options very open. Same with totally dropping the Trina romance that was spoiled for him in the mags once FV clearly took a shine to him. Frank's priorities are bright and blazing in one color. I do think Gio and Emma seem to have worked out given that she is very dry and sarcastic and he is like a hot golden retriever, but I'd still play the field or explore quads with both with very different people - Emma with a scheming young man (of color), Gio with possibly Trina or someone else, or even a boy. Then maybe put them back together, who knows. But of course none that will happen.

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
