GH to air "classic" episodes

The responses on Instagram truly only help support whoever chooses these repeats. The excitement and praise for another Sonny week or the when are new episodes come back drown out a very few asking for better choices or real classics. The Sonny praise is insane, but saying MB was a great actor took me out. I can't

LLC and DZ as mother/son is so ridiculous. He looks like he could be her older brother. That it was at all credible at any point is a testament to those actors.

JJ was always so red-rimmed and miserable when I watched this go-around as Lucky. He’s a really great actor with a lot of access to his emotions, but that was just exhausting to watch. It was refreshing to see him somewhat more upbeat on Nashville (before that show went to total sh!t).

Just like his mother, especially as written by Guza.  She was almost always miserable or afraid everything was going to fall apart once Nikolas arrived. The year Lucky was “dead“ was really awful as far as watching her grieve, and Lucky’s last return reminded me of how they wrote for Laura.

And to play, which is why he quit, along with being denied a promised reunion with Liz. They shot the golden goose.

Aren't these the last episode before they ran out? Is GH already taping new episodes and planning a return the week after or are they really playing with fans like that?

I see the same trend with y&r and b&b. Fans from these online threads seem to have a more wholehearted understanding of each of the soaps classical eras, and seem to be more scrutinizing of what we're being shown on screen these days. This in comparison to the modern fans on social media who seem to eat up whatever trash the writers come up with, and "ship" literally any couple paring.

Case and point, this is fan choice week #2 for B&B and all requested episodes have been from the 2010s, despite the show's best era being pre 2002. Similarly fans on Y&R's official facebook are complaining about why it's actors haven't gotten back to filming---whereas here on DTS---fans appear to be enjoying and dissecting each of the older classic episodes.

That’s why I’ve always loved this board, in spite of its issues. There are smart individual voices on Twitter and elsewhere, but SON remains one of the few places on the web that takes the genre seriously. We’re not going to take whatever sh!t is shoveled to us.

 Facts!

I see Michael's shooting is "re-re-re" airing next week. In watching clips on YouTube it's insane how many simultaneous storylines Sonny had from 2008-2010. I had foggy memories of watching Kate's shooting live. While re-watching the scenes, I was surprised to see Claudia sitting in the audience.

Between 2008 and 2009 alone feature the Sonny related plots of: Claudia and Sonny, Michael's shooting & coma, Sonny and Kate's relationship/ wedding shooting, Franco's arrival, Dante's undercover operation, etc....

THIS!

To be fair I have seen a good amount of pushback towards the endless Sonny weeks (edit: on Twitter; I stay away from Soap Facebook and Soap Insta) but of course the crazies have the loudest voices, lol.

Pretty much sums it up.

And so so so many 'fans' want instant gratification. "Why doesn't so and so know already" ... etc. It's so annoying. These stans who have no idea how soaps work are helping ruin the genre because for whatever reason the soaps cater to them. The whole "team" so and so is SO damaging to me and divisive.

    • There are no dumb questions here, we've all known each other long enough to fill in information without shaming each other.  We want you to be happy @carolineg.  Your POV as one of the few women here is vital. So, please, I hope you never feel as if any question, idea, or opinion is ever silly or stupid.  Your daily reminders about the realities of manicure and menstrual management has become a part of the personality of this thread. As for Hank, while I'm confident there's a plan in place.  It is frustrating that they announce these casting so far in advance that it is tough as an audience and wait it out until the thing happens.  I'm happy they didn't blow it the second Mike was in town, a week after meeting Liam. So, it is a slow burn.
    • I think his full name is Chadwick.  I remember, back when the previous actor was playing him, someone called him Chadwick a couple of times.  It may have been Stefano.
    • I didn't like those two sleeping together, but I suuure liked seeing BF in them. Wiggle and all. Just sad about the waxing of the chest.   Same.
    • It’s strange. I wonder if the writers at that time had worked with him somewhere else and had a relationship? That time is murky AF to find info on. Rachel Ames in effect left the show at one point in the early 80’s and she is credited like she was there until JFP. Tristan Rogers also took various contract breaks that were not short, and websites also credit him one long stint from 1981-1992. So many people come and go in short succession in 1982-part of 1983. I know they lost a lot of viewers when Genie left, but the show somehow survived yearly at number one through like sheer force of will.
    • In that way, at least we were fortunate.  The Daniel Pilon/Ron Raines decisions...not so much.
    • Letting Brennan put it in yet again while smirking over his shoulder... any day now! She's got him just where she wants him! I do think ol' Jack will be dead by February at the absolute latest. They have set him up as a counter-heavy to Sidwell, forcing poor Joss to work his next scheme or threatening to have her sent down for treason. Once he croaks I still deeply fear we will be subject to Valentin and Carly, partners in crime to lovers, possibly out to find out 'who killed Jack'. Anna was at her best keeping Sonny at arm's length and often somewhat cold, which she only really did (for better or worse) off and on during Carlivati's tenure. But Finola gradually got too emotional over Sonny, Jason, etc. and was allowed to do that onscreen too much long ago. Mulcahey brought some of that steel back, though Finola still managed to choke or quietly sob through some of that material as Anna found her way there lol. She's a brilliant actress and she did a good job with that stuff in '24, but now we're back to the same old and it humiliates the character whether she knows it or not.
    • Listen, I am all for Laura Wright wearing silly wigs and glasses if there was a point.  So far she's just been nice to Brennan and made out with him.  How evil lol!!  Even though I have been told Brennan loves her the writing was never there.  It's so low stakes.  Carly should maybe talk to her daughter and have an adult conversation instead. Laura and Anna look foolish.  I really don't have an issue with either being friendly or at least having some affection for Sonny.  I don't get both of them wanting to have a parade to announce how much they love him and how valuable the friendship is.  C'mon, Laura basically tolerated Sonny because of Luke until Lulu/Dante got together.  Anna likes Sonny because Robin did?  There really isn't much more of a reason for Anna to give him the time of day besides that.  They aren't lifelong buddies.
    • It is so dumb and is dragging on already after a couple weeks. By the time Carly wraps this up Joss will be running the local branch office. And yes, Laura deserves better. It's like they tripled down on this Sonny apologia stuff with her and Anna after the Mulcahey saga.
