Same concept (with better acting and direction):

Listen to that score! So tense and foreboding and then it crescendos in perfect synch with the action in the scene. It's marvelous. Besides that the slap was about 13 years in the making, so even if the music wasn't so amazing it still would've been impactful.

For me this was actually one of the first music cues that i didn’t like and thought lack class and elegance of classic Y&R. Little did I know that it was gold compared to what we got later on...

I want to complain about Y&R's current music cues some more.

This isn't a horrible scene, it's not good but it's not horrible, however listen to that music. It's like a damn lullaby playing under an intense scene. And that end EVERY scene with that same music. It doesn't make any sense to me.

As lackluster and overused as this is, I find that after watching the "classic" from 2014, RC Cates' compositions have improved melodically in recent years as opposed to the JFP trashcan of cues they started using in 2013. Still lacks the punch of the Allocco-Kurtz-Davidson cues from 1984-2002.

On the note of Alloco-Kurtz cues, I really didn't care for the compositions from the MAB era. They made scenes sound super campy and this one in particular below at the end of the scene is one I could never stand.

Ok I don’t want to laugh at that, but that’s just sad and embarrassing. Oh Winters Wednesdays...

At least we didn’t get MAB era stuff when Malcolm was always making sandwiches while the show wanted to create a character “who was all that” and “dressed like she’s going to a fancy ball”.

Remember Shemar's 2014 return where Malcolm acted like he was gone for 10 years? It was an attempt to wipe out the Eddie Winslow years.

Constant writer turnover can really destroy the foundations of a soap. Bad enough to have one horrid writer dismantle all that had preceded. Of course, it’s good that some things are forgotten, a la Eddie Winslow Winters.

MAB really got That Black Storyline up and pumping, didn't she?  ;)

I’m so glad Tonya Lee Williams gave us that gift of a quote. 😂

When did Tonya Lee Williams say that? :)

And of course, Eric Braeden hated that scene...

Wonder how he felt about the scene of John punching the living daylights out of Victor?

What a mess. Right after that Tyra debacle too. They even brought on Nate to do nothing at all, while Devon dated Tatyana Ali for six years and she only appeared like five episodes a year.

I'm basically over blaming Braeden for all of the problems the show has had with how Victor is written, but sometimes I do wonder (and this is going to sound terrible and I apologize in advance) when the time comes and Braeden is gone, how many actors are gonna come forward and admit things constantly had to be changed in the script because he didn't want Victor to lose, in any way.....including allowing other characters to physically attack him more then they did...

I'm at least thankful Bill Bell got the final say in this scene with Cole!

And she STILL managed to win four NAACP Image Awards! And beat DEBBI that first year!
