So sad that it seems they air an episode mostly with the old Brooks crowd, but only one Lorie scene! I will take anything though so I’m not complaining. What I wouldn’t give to see a really meaty episode with Lorie, Leslie, Vanessa, etc.

Yeah, I got the sense that that was coming.

Same. Didn’t want to come across like a MAB apologist in my previous post. But I really do feel like she gutted the show. After LML, who just didn’t appreciate what was good about Y&R at all and didn’t understand or even like the characters outside of a precious few, MAB initially seemed like a breath of fresh air. But her show was so dark and nihilistic in an incompetent and insulting attempt to reference old-school gothic Y&R. It was like watching a desecration.

Abby was the result of 2000-spermgate.

One of the best storylines from around that time IMO is Lorie’s revenge on Victor during 1982 for taking away Prentiss Industries from Lance. To this date, the only woman who beat Victor at his own game.

Did you see the episode yet because i just watched it and holy [!@#$%^&*] that kept me glued, every scene had a great purpose for whatever was going on back then it was really good and of course im happy i got to see Vanessa she basically stole the show

I loved the scene near the end when Vanessa was sitting on the couch trying to pay of the fact that she's ill and she hates Lorie and lance is just standing there completely clueless, this is much better then anything going on in the last 10 or more years of the show

Bill Bell used elements of Vanessa/Lance/Lucas for Stephanie/Ridge/Thorne and the Lance/Lucas/Leslie/Lorie quadrangle for the Ridge/Thorne/Caroline/Brooke quadrangle. Oddly enough John McCook played son to Vanessa and husband to Stephanie; I know John McCook left Y&R in 1980 so the 1981 episode will have the recast Lance. From what I've read about Vanessa, she's probably the scariest of Bill Bell's wealthy matriarchs (Jennifer, Katherine, Vanessa, Dina, Stephanie).

Im happy they didn't cut anything out, they need to show viewers that even though it wasn't y&r best storyline talked about at least the actors in those scenes made it work. The overall performance from everyone today beat basically 10 or more years of the show's acting in my opinion

I know it's probably already on YT, but I've been debating if I should wait for a higher quality version of the episode...If I didn't have work on Monday I'd watch it live, but I know the episodes won't be available on CBS or on Demand...

She was pretty spooky and intimidating character, she almost more frightening then Sheila but probably a different kind of David Kimble.

Theres also a episode i think more in the 70's when she tried to shoot Lorie but ended up shooting lance, that would be amazing to see

Victor and nikki scenes were okay just to get the viewers interested in something else that was new at that time so they fit in quite well, i wish we can see more 1981

    • I don't think they had any idea who he was this time last year. I think they were keeping their options very open. Same with totally dropping the Trina romance that was spoiled for him in the mags once FV clearly took a shine to him. Frank's priorities are bright and blazing in one color. I do think Gio and Emma seem to have worked out given that she is very dry and sarcastic and he is like a hot golden retriever, but I'd still play the field or explore quads with both with very different people - Emma with a scheming young man (of color), Gio with possibly Trina or someone else, or even a boy. Then maybe put them back together, who knows. But of course none that will happen.

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
