Farewell Caroline & Grandpa Shawn:

Young Peggy has a striking resemblance to Lexi Ainsworth. Lexi would be a good SORAS for Sydney DiMera.

Oh no!! :(  even  with rumors of her health, this is still a shock! at least she's with Frank Parker and countless others in heaven!
RIP!!

Sad news.  I loved her on DAYS.  Especially her complicated relationship with Victor and the story about Bo being their son due to an affair.

I miss those multigenerational aspects of soaps.

Oh, no, so it is true! :(

RIP Ms. McCay.  DAYS will never be the same without our Caroline.

From 1969, Peggy as Iris Fairchild on GH.  This was the first role I remember seeing her play.

Thank you for sharing that.

May she rest in peace.

This is so sad. It makes me thankful that we still have the chance to appreciate the presence of veteran actors like Bill and Susan Hayes.

When all our beloved vets are gone, daytime TV is going to be a stark place. :(

I will never regard today's "stars" like Roger Howarth, Maurice Bernard, Steve Burton, Farah Fath, etc., with the same reverence as the legendary actors like McCay who graced our screen for decades.

Wow, what a huge loss for Days. In the last 25 years they've lost almost all the heads of their major families: Macdonald Carey, Frances Reid, Joseph Mascolo, Frank Parker, and now Peggy McCay. Hard to believe John Aniston is the only one left of that generation.

And most of them passed in just the last few years, sad how we have lost some of the best.

How sadly ironic that Ms. McCay passed away so soon after Frank Parker. So many older soap vets are leaving us now. So sad.

May Peggy McCay RIP.

On a sort of morbid note, I wonder if Days will now kill off Caroline off screen as it killed off Shawn Sr.?

Shawn Sr, died in a plane crash, telling Bo to "Let me go son". they should write her off. make it an event. she deserves it. will miss her terribly. RIH Ma'am.

End of an era. She really helped to invest Daytime with feeling and intelligence, thanks to her authentic acting.

Hang in there John Aniston. Ditto John Clarke, even though we haven't seen you since 2004.

Sad to think how many of the veteran Lifetime Achievement Award recipients at the 2004 Emmys are no longer with us...

It's especially sad that all the while we're losing our elder soap actors/stars, the industry as a whole is doing nothing to amplify and preserve/restore their work.

At times, it's as though today's soaps would rather we forget about the history and the great stories and performances that so many have enjoyed over previous decades of daytime soap history.

R.I.P. Ms. McCay, may your talent/work never be forgotten.
