Wow.  I'm not sure, but I think even some of the clips included in this version differ from ones used in the credits for the US version.

I love that "winter wind," as I like to think of it, that sometimes started off Y&R's theme in the mid-80's.

Re: Ryan's Hope. All their openings make me want to go out and buy orange juice. I would've hoped they updated the music somewhat by the mid-80's.

Although I wasn’t a huge fan of Loving, I am a fan of murder mysteries and the Loving murders opening perfectly set the mood for the episodes when a character was murdered.

I think you're right.  I happened upon the third season credits in both the US and french versions.. and the Abby clips were different (in the US one.. Abby's in a swimsuit and being sexy... in the french one.. she's doing the mom thing in her clips)... plus, kenny and ginger each have separate clips, not merged together.

I always loved the final LOL opening, sorry if it's already been posted. Simple but very grand. I could see it having been used, in some variation, for many years had the show kept running.

Home & Away. Cheesy but still good and it draws you in - very much like Australian soaps in those years.

I also liked the early '00s update.

They no longer have credits, which tells you all you need to know about what the show has become.

Neighbours has had a number of very unfortunate updates to their theme tune in recent years, but I always really liked this one - both the image and the vocals.

I can’t embed an appropriate video at this moment, but I have to bring up the classic Aussie soap NUMBER 96, which began each episode with no music but just a shot of the titular apartment building a quick zoom in on which part of the building in which the episode’s action would begin. Perfect, and then of course it had a very swinging 70s theme that ran over the closing credits.

I still remember when they first made the switch to this Neighbours theme (I think in 1992) there was such a backlash, but I always really liked it. Though I always liked the title style that originally went with it. It was like an envelope or postbox.

This theme is really one of the best, underrated soap openings. It's quiet, majestic, moody, and quite perfect. No huge histrionics, just a beautiful way to introduce a show. The full theme is on my iPhone and I listen to it whenever I need a breather.

The Eighties spinning globe intro to ATWT was my favorite. It was a perfect hook from the intro scenes. The intros after that were a hodgepodge  that ranged from pretty-but-boring to meaningless fanfare. Eight pages of this thread and nobody posted Dark Shadows? (I would, but I don't know how!)

    • Thanks. I'm glad we have some fan memories of these years as this is such a typically snide take on the genre. It's also poorly written and reminds me a great deal of the tedious "snark" recaps that became popular in the '90s. The end in particular. The 1979/80 stuff I have seen is much more polished than a number of soaps at the time. It was very easy to watch and not too bogged down in past story.  Margo is played by Ann Williams, who was on what seemed like every soap. I think she said Margo was her favorite role.
    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
    • She’s INCREDIBLE. I’m so glad you enjoyed this my friend.
