I disagree. I don't think any company would be willing to touch two shows that have been cancelled twice. And I doubt ABC will choose to revive them either

I agree.

I'm not sure Disney would ever have gone for that.

Usually once a network cancels a show it never comes back. Abc owns them lock stock and barrell lol they can't lose the rights to them. To be honest i believe PP will get something minor but to go up against their unpaid fees abc will prevail in the end.

So do I. It's a shame they weren't involved in the first place.

I don't know whether SONY in particular would have gotten involved. Nor do I think ABC/Disney would have entertained the suggestion (unless SONY's offer was really, really, REALLY good). But I do agree with (the gist of) John's statement that a more established, financially solvent corporation would have had better luck re-launching these shows.

At this point, with everyone involved BTS moving onto other projects, I'd rather see ABC/Disney launch some brand-new, online soaps using some choice personnel (such as Agnes Nixon as an executive consultant). And as for Jeff and Rich and everyone else at PP? I think they should stick to what they know best: selling Aunt Bee phony health tonics.

What is ironic is that everyone thinks that is the only age demo that watches soaps.

I hope Agnes does get them back, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Agnes sold these shows to ABC years ago. The only way she'd get them back is for her to buy the rights to AMC and OLTL back, at a huge cost, I would imagine. I doubt a woman of her age would do that. What would be the point? She can't afford to put them into production again at this point. These two iconic shows are done. I hope PP is, too. They made a mess of things, despite their good intentions.

I'm even more well versed in classic sitcoms than I am in soaps!!! biggrin.png

Only if the company is owned by a mega fan who happened to win Powerball or Megamillions for hundreds of millions of dollars. Most companies don't go into business for spite, but to make money.

I've actually theught about doing this if I ever won the PB or MM for that much amount of money but I don't think it would be a wise investment. I wonder which situation would be easier, getting the two ABC soaps or the CBS soaps from P&G?

God that is a hard question LOL. PG has a long history of not selling there shows where as ABC really was never asked. I am sure it would be a combo of a sells pitch and lots of money!!
