There actually was a time in the early-mid 90s (1993, 1994ish) where they weren't played at all, but I'm used to hearing them now, so that sucks . I think part of it was the hair which was set too high in the house left corner of her dome making her look kinda severe and off kilter. It sounded like she coughed/cleared her throat a little at one point so maybe she's a little under the weather.
