^^^ That entirely depends. Is Carlivati a fan of GH, too? Because what got him through OLTL was the fact that he adored that show and knew its history. If he's on a show where he doesn't really know the history? God knows how it's going to hold up.

Don't forget that GH is dead man walking -- ABC want rid.

Finally, Frons is going to be MUCH more implicated in storylining and how stays on the frontburner than he ever was on OL. I shudder to think if he tries to get Michael Easton onto the show.

I think Ron was a fan of a very limited range of the show - if he adored it I don't know if he would have done some of the stuff he did which trashed important stories and characters (like the rapemance).

There was always a lot of darkness in his OLTL, under the LAUGH NOW mentality. I guess we may see more of that (if he takes over as headwriter), although I'd love if they bring Ron Hale back and have him meet up with Roxy and leave happily ever after. I'd also love if Steve Burton has to spend the rest of his time on GH talking to a stuffed porcupine.

The Chew wasn't doing that well before the holiday season kicked in, was it? I know it's cheaper though, so we'll have to see how things shake out. I wouldn't bet so much as a dollar on GH's survival, I'm just saying I think there is the smallest chance if one of these other shows truly and utterly fails.

The Chew is kind of a special case. It's full of very popular food personalities who have all kinds of connections to even more popular personalities like Paula Deen. They spent month after month pushing this show everywhere. So has ABC - constant promos everywhere. I was surprised that it was as low as it was early on. This show has had everything going for it.

Hard for me to understand why ANYONE would want to see JFP at Y&R.

She should've been dumped from GH frickin YEARS ago, and this move is long past due. It's probably too late to save GH, but I don't think ABC would make this move at all if there wasn't at least some hope for GH on the schedule.

I think Y&R is so far gone a lot of people may just want any change, especially if they like some of JFP's work.

I'm not surprised Carl, the show talks down to viewers. I think it'll go back down after the holiday's

I think all the shows will go back down after the holidays. There will be more and more people at home through the end of the year with college students and people on vacation. The Chew isn't the only show to be benefitting from that so are the soaps.

I wonder what Tony Geary will have to say. He loved Guza's writing and GW seemed to continue in that vein for Luke. I don't know what RC would write for him. I'm guessing a lot of comedy capers. Since the show is ending anyway, most likely, Geary will probably stick it out, but I wonder if we'll get any angry interviews.

It will be interesting to see if there's any effect on ratings. OLTL's ratings were all over the place in the last year. I think so many have abandoned GH (understandably), even if RC and FV were incredibly brilliant and made Monty and Marland seem like amateurs, it wouldn't help.

Frons is so full of it.

They don't start until Jan 9th? That means whatever airs won't start until like almost March right?

Probably. And we got the AMC and OLTL announcements in April, so GH doesn't have very long to turn itself around.

The Chew's ratings are growing consistently. The Revolution's will do the same because the timing of the show, like the timing for The Chew, is great, linked up with holiday time and New Year. Plus, these shows are dirt cheap.

ABC Soaps In Depth Official Page

UPDATE: An ABC spokesperson reports that GH's current headwriter, Garin Wolf, and co-headwriter Shelly Altman, will remain a part of the show's writing staff, but in a different capacity.

Good. There was no reason to fire them.

Oh, Tony Geary will piss and moan. But he wanted married Luke [!@#$%^&*] hookers on the side and the murder of Jake. So I don't care what he wants. I will enjoy the massive butthurt from all GH's entrenched airhogs. This show is dead next year and has been dead a long time. Killing off Robin Scorpio would be unthinkable to a regime other than the long-running JFP-Guza institution. I'm just glad some OLTL personnel have jobs.

I think The Chew's ratings started out strong (ABC bragging about them beating AMC), then crashed, then went back up.

I still wonder just how cheap this show is, between the endless ads and the big money likely paid to those involved like Batali or Deen. I'm sure it's not on an AMC level but if it's about saving money it's not as cheap as it could be.
