April 27, 201114 yr Member Looks like they really want viewers 18-34 at the broadcast nets during the daytime: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/467327-Skewing_Younger_in_Daytime_Broadcast_Trades_Soaps_for_Food_Talk_and_Weight_Loss.php
April 27, 201114 yr Member If that's what ABC wants they chose odd shows - both of their shows seem more pitched to 35 and older. I hope that Bridget and Jerome Dobson somehow manage to seize control of GH for the last year. Maybe they can even work with JFP. Imagine Carly giving birth at the vets and Jason as a fry cook.

It's pretty clear from that article, though, that GH is done, sooner than later. The advertisers are quoted saying the "soaps are dying" and they have no real interest in advertising on them anymore.

We agree on that - I just want to see Guza's show taken away and he has to sit back in the last year and watch the Dobsons run amok.

Wow..this is a bombshell!! Why didnt Bridget and Jerome take over the show?? For Bridget to let her parents show to pretty much go down in flames is odd.

April 27, 201114 yr Member Because ABC owns the show outright. The Hursley estate probably has gotten their residuals for their creator credit. This suit might pertain to online distribution. When these contracts were made years ago, nobody could predict the ways there would be to profit off the show. How much does GH generate off of iPads for example?

They did--the Dobsons wrote it in the 70s bfore they started working at P&G soaps. But I think it was cuz ABC always owned the show--there wasn't much they could do.

April 27, 201114 yr Member cathickland Catherine Hickland A Disney employee yelled out to us "read a book!" will we be without compassion when he loses his job? I hope not #souless There is something terribly ironic about a Disney employee telling someone to read a book considering that company made most of its money by raping classic fables and literature.
April 27, 201114 yr Member Anne can kick rocks. How long has she been on top at ABC? How long have the soaps' ratings been in free fall? And not once did she think to look at the situation because she's been just so busy with other things (if she cared about the integrity of soaps, daytime would have been one of those things she was busy with, no?)? Keep that sh!t, I don't want it.
April 27, 201114 yr Member who's the one on the end? Kathy Brier? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic? Just in case you're not , it's Kathy Najimy.

PRODUCER: One of the things that still frustrated me in this genre is the inability to evolve in terms of staff, and people and writers. For example: I think some of GH’s darkest hours were the Megan McTavish years, and I think some of GL’s were the Megan McTavish years, and I think some of AMC darkest hours were the Megan McTavish years. Then I read somewhere that Brian Frons was courting Megan McTavish to come back, and I thought, really?
