AMC: Actress leaves!

 I wonder what AMC's thinking right now. Annie/MCE is obviously a valuable commodity to them as seen by their choice to hold on to this news as long as they could. If they told us she was leaving along with ex-Scott and Marissa, that would have been just overwhelming (regardless of our feelings about M&S). What next, did Jacob Young quit the week before Christmas and we'llfind out next month? Maybe J.R.'ll take after his stepbro and bed Liza or be caught in a Triangle with Tad and Cara.

They should definitely take a couple/few months off. So that way we can all get used to MCE being gone.

Yep, she'd bring a lot of fanbase. I haven't watched AMC daily in YEARS but I would go back just to see Becky. And you're right, Becky might have some reservations about ABC. But I'd like to see it.

Just to be sure, we all do know that MCE quit on her own, correct? Because I'm doing the message board/social networking roundup, and people are finding a way to label this "yet another ABCD mistake." I'm all for putting ABCD/Frons on blast, but let's do it for all the right and accurate reasons, please. MCE was one of AMC's top frontburning stars all year in 2010, so I don't want to hear no claims of "She was wasted!!" either.

Good luck and God bless Missy Claire! They were writing you out years ago and you took all that "She was just a stand-in for Greenlee" bull, folded it up into an origami swan and shoved it back down their throats. Move on baby and don't ever look back!

I get what you're saying but I think that people are looking at the talent AMC (and ABC) has lost/let go recently vs. the ones they keep/promote/pimp/beg to return and it's hard not to see this as yet another mistake.

LOL.

Will still ask AMC about the possibility of a recast though ;) Let me shut up and go send that e-mail.

I'm not getting it. Did they tell the entire cast that anybody that wants to leave can leave in December? I'm laughing at the thought but who knows.

    • I agree.  How many times did we have to watch Bobby vs. J.R., or Blake vs. Alexis, knowing that nothing would change at the end, and that everything would go back to status quo, so that they could fight the same, exhausting battles all over again?  If nothing else, I give FC and KL credit for trying to keep things fresh, even if I think FC, in particular, went too far in the other direction and became unrecognizable even to the most diehard fans. Exactly.  Plus, because viewers were so burned out by the kind of serialized storytelling that was beginning to affect even half-hour comedies, I think MSW represented a nice change of pace.  You didn't have to watch every week, or watch from the beginning of each season, to know what was going on with Miss Fletcher.  Instead, you could watch a complete story in one episode, de-stress from whatever had happened in your own life last week, gear yourself up for the week ahead, and be okay.
    • I saw a conversation yesterday with Liam with the 7 dwarves hat and Steffy -  I know she did not say re: Hope and Liam said - well look at Finn and you forgave him right?      I know I did not hear Steffy say “well but you can’t compare that to…”  For *uck sake someone call the bitch out!?     You’re right, we shouldn’t compare your forgiveness for the dude with devil spawn seed whose daughter locked you in a cage along with crazy stepmom/mom/Grandmother who has also SHOT YOU BOTH - and multiple murder attempts but you have to exist with them / Hope’s part in a takeover which you know was FAR LESS THAN CARTER BECAUSE HOPE IS NOT AN ATTORNEY…. Goodness no, no the same thing at alllllllll.   When they do Steffy’s absence at least let it be because they all find out what a manipulative ho she is in her own right.
    • I think a lot of us still agree with that. I do hope that the resurgence in the soap world with Beyond the Gates will push ABC to either bring back these shows or produce a newer one.
    • So, this was fun. Elsewhere, friendly to polls, a poll on what do you want to see at the Nurses Ball. The Gio reveal got 18%, for Blaze to return & sing also got 18%, for Jennifer Hudson to do a cameo & sing got 10% and for Lucy to lose various parts of clothing got 9% but the huge one was the reveal of Drew/Nina sex which got a whopping 45%!
    •   I liked the effect of the curtains closing. Yeah it was like the end of Act I.   Or maybe they are simply trying to emphasize the drama of the end of an episode -- instead of a random abrupt end that has happened in some prior episodes.
    • I posted this in the behind the scenes thread but I know this thread is busier so wanted to mention it here as well. During their instagram live yesterday, Daphnee Duplaix and Trisha Mann-Grant mentioned that they will find out this month if the show is renewed for another season. Just a heads up so we can keep an eye out for an announcement and keep our fingers crossed for a multi-year renewal!
    • They haven't explained the ownership of the Bistro, but Doug told Holly the other day he didn't get the job there. Basically Roman just hired Doug on the spot and gave him a room.  It was really nice of Roman.  I don't know if he knows who Doug is or that he stole Julie's necklace.  That was unclear-at least to me. ETA-I feel like the Bistro might just die and people will just pretend to order food there like Leo did today.  Sophia is on bed rest so no one works there anymore.  They can use that set for something else.
    • I'm not sure how I felt about it, but I do kind of like that it felt like the show telling us this concludes the first chapter of the series. Could be interesting if they only do it for big aftermath episodes. The biggest mistake with Martin is that it's almost hard to buy his anger because we've gotten no strong scenes with him and his parents. They've all been with Anita/Vernon. I can't even remember him ever even saying one word to Nicole, even in passing.
    •   Thank you! Agreed on both posts. And the comments about Mike Manning are nonsense.
