I've met all of them except Hays and I concur with your observations.

My enthusiasm for ATWT had definitely waned by 1997 and this was the final nail in the coffin.  Such disrespect to Allyson Rice.

I do love that we got a lengthy montage, with Marisa Tomei underplaying and Cris Leblanc gritting his teeth, to show Kirk taking a car trip. If anyone needed an example of ATWT trying to ape ABC and NBC soaps...

At least we know Kirk is a safe driver, making sure to pull over when in distress.

How I wish the entire arc of Whit McColl's demise would pop up again. I only got to see his death once when it was uploaded on WOST. God I miss that site...

Whit is one of those characters I'm good with not seeing a whole lot of. I just end up focusing on the wig and the wooden acting.

I know that pop music playing on soaps was a thing in the 80s... but did the producers understand the lyrics of this particular song?   I'm going to assume no (most people in the 80s didn't understand what She Bop by Cyndi Lauper was about.. so doubt if they knew what this song was about)

Love how Kirk has  the steering wheel spoke in the vertical position. In reality he would be driving in circles.

And Nathan Lane as a young newlywed in the Dinner Classics commercial. Poor wife is in for a short lived marriage and a lotta heartache.

I see what you mean. At least we have that wonderful promo of Eileen making such a dramatic face (not only did Whit die - the rug was ruined!).
