I am still loving these live chats, but I do wish Alan would have spent a bit more time asking ATWT-related questions. In the other two, I loved hearing which castmates they are still in touch with.

With this group especially, I just think it's really nice that they are all still up for it. Most of them were young when they were on the show and were only there for a few years. It would have been too easy for them to want to play down there involvement in soaps, but they all still seem very appreciative. I wasn't expecting Agim and Alexandra to know each other as well as they seemed to, as Alexandra came on after Agim left. Then Agim returned when Alexandra was on the way out, and when Alexandra returned, Agim was gone.

Also, it's funny how sometimes when you are only accustomed to reading - not hearing - a name, you find out that you have been mispronouncing it for nearly 20 years. I've always thought Agim was pronounced Adjim.

I respect Van for refusing to name-and-shame, but I DO wonder which actor he was referring to.

Like many others, I would love to see vets and/or Marland-era actors, but I do think we need to be realistic about this. Out of the older actors, not everyone is going to be as good with technology as Don. And from the Marland-era, not everyone might be willing to revisit a job from 30 years ago. Plus, I get the impression - not sure though - that Alan was only with the show for the final decade or so, so he might not even be able to contact some of those people. I think our best bet might be if some of the actors, like Martha, spread the word.

I only learned how to pronounce Agim Kaba's name because of Cady McClain's odd but sorta endearing explosion of love for him and Peyton List at the end of her Emmy speech (made even more unintentionally hilarious because of the wrap-it-up music chiming in at just the right time.

And yes, because I'm sure it'll be mentioned even though it's irrelevant, Chris Goutman is mentioned and seen during her speech. That's not why I embedded the video.

I also feel as though you're not going to get anyone who was done with the show by the late 1990s or early 2000s. He's reuniting with the people he worked with and actually knows.

Reminds me that Cady really did the best work of her career during her first stint on ATWT. Probably the only ABC transplant that worked, and I never knew she had it in her after the last few years of her second stint as Dixie on AMC (you could tell she hated playing the character at that point).

Even if/when they do have chemistry, if you look closely, you can often see brief moments where there is some occasional awkwardness.

I was only occasionally watching at that point but I remember when I found that out, I thought it seemed fairly pointless. It seemed as if they were trying to get some sort of tension out of that situation (because his relationship with Barbara, I guess) but it just pretty much generated a shrug. James had already gotten a surprise son years ago, so giving him another one and one who lacked any gravitas seemed especially weird. Also with James only being on the canvas occasionally, it would have had more dramatic impact if Maddie and Henry discovered they were somehow related to Grant Coleman, one of Lisa's ex-husbands, it would've given Lisa something to do in those last years of the show.

Maybe he can rely on Martha and Don Hastings to connect to some of the other actors. If someone could get John Wesley Shipp on, that might lead to Julianne Moore since they're still in touch (at least on social media they are) and Moore has talked at length about her working in soaps on podcasts and TV, so I don't think she's completely unreachable.

I wonder if Gregg Marx keeps in touch with anyone? I think he'd be fascinating to have on the show.

Last year, I remember watching an uploaded episode on YT and in the comments someone claiming to be Bill Shanks' nephew posted a comment, lol. I'd love to hear from some actors we haven't heard from in a long time. I bet they'd have some interesting perspectives.

    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.
    • I'm glad a lot of people are continuing to enjoy this show.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.
