Actually Hurst will be interesting...she is one of GA's fave writers and she posts on the GL Facebook page and is pretty honest while still being thankfull for her opportunities with GL.  Though if it was just her and Kreizman and Alan we would get an hour of how wonderful the Coopers were to write for, etc, etc.

I would love to hear from Taggert how she was going to end Alex's run ( I heard Gus was going to be Rita's kid, and that Alex and AM would take on Alan and Phillip.) before Weston took over and had her drugging Alan and eventually being a drug lord of SF.

I’m 99% positive Gus was Selena’s other long-list kid with Miguel Santos, to set up

rivals Gus and Danny as half-brothers.

The rewrite with scaredy-cat Selena leaving town with her tail tucked between her legs after a few threats from Maria Santos was out of character. And then Selena admitted she’d known the whereabouts of Miguel Jr all along.

Gus as a Spaulding did nothing for me.  The day player nun for a mother did nothing for me.

And isn’t it urban legend that Rita left Springfield pregnant?  Wishful thinking?  I don’t recall her sleeping with Alan that close to her departure. A pregnancy would’ve been a rewrite also.

To be honest I wonder if anyone else even wants to host. Before he started doing this there had been little to no community involving the P&G soaps for a while beyond people talking on Twitter or Facebook.

Aside from Taggart and Simon, I am curious to see what James Harmon Brown has to say. There was an interesting situation with him on Facebook a few years ago. There was a fun thread on one of the groups about the best soap murder mysteries. Lots of ideas came up: Diana Taylor on GH, Eliot Dorn on EON, Diane Ballard and Joe Bradley on GL. Then this one guy chimed in about the Loving murders. He touted about what a great story it was but never divulged that he was Jim Brown, one of the scribes behind the story. A few of us had gone to his FB page and saw who he was. It was amusing to us that he was anonymously raving about his own work.

That’s embarrassing, but not surprising...

Brown and Esensten were also breakdown writers on Nancy Curlee’s team, so they did at least have some history with GL prior to 1997. However, they’ve always struck me as writers who should be staff writers and never HW’s...

Good lord young Vincent Irizzary looks like a Greek statue come to life.

During Billy and Vanessa's party they're playing orchestral versions of "Yesterday" and "Just The Way You Are", they sound so pretty.

I had no idea that there was a Lewis...sister?! Did she ever show up in the last decade? I only started watching in '99 and do not remember her.

    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
    • French fan summary Rusty took over Simon's job at Lewis Trucking after Simon transferred to Lewis Oil's North Carolina office to live near Jessie and Calla. I doubt they would bother following up a story for offscreen characters eg marriage and a baby.
    • I suspected that the performance with the reveal was the reason why the Ted actor got the axe and it looks like I was right. He wasn't really good at conveying what needed to be conveyed in those scenes. Claybon is at least slowly improving (but I agree that he still needs to work on his line delivery), but I do wonder what will happen when his big reveal is coming up.
    • I've already asked this before, recently, but can anyone who watched those years more closely tell me if anything said about Jessie and Simon at the end of their profiles is accurate (about them marrying, naming a baby after Brandon/Lujack, etc.)?
    • Nicole is way too smart to not know she was carrying twins - she's a doctor! My guess is that Leslie did abort her baby out of fear, and as payback, stole Ted and Nicole's child (Eva), and stole Kat from another family to replace her in the hospital.
    • Those Soap Central profiles have a lot of incorrect info. According to SOD summaries and the Daytime Newsletter of the time,Tim left town for a new job and Pam reunited with the father of her baby and also departed Springfield. They did not marry.
    • Do we believe that Jabot is at the level of Estee Lauder?? I am on board with Jabot deciding to expand but the way it was handled was ridiculous. Jabot just decided and bingo, that was that. Not months of negotiations and decisions about how it would fit into the Jabot portfolio. And then no follow through. Josh thinks he's serving business stories by characters sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers and job switching. Now we have Audra setting up her own company -Vibrator or something. Well, why not? You don't need staff, office space or even products.
