I was watching Live with Kelly and Ryan the other day and Robin Givens was on - and she mentioned being on Guiding Light.  Rare these days that someone who came from Soaps mentions it, but those that do - usually on Kelly because she claims it proudly (from AMC).  I remember Robin briefly but does anyone remember the character and storyline?

What's interesting is that they were talking about all of her current projects (she's on like 3 shows or 2 shows and a movie or something), all of her current projects, and she mentioned all 3 - whatever they were, and she was on Guiding Light.  But didn't mention she's been on B&B several times this year hahahahahaha.  Good.

I really want to say it was Agnes Nixon, but she left at some point during 1966, the same year Werner was originally introduced (in fact, I think Joe Werner's debut TGL episodes are still up on YT). However, it could also have been any of the numerous writers who came after her. If I recall, wasn't there a lot of turnover for the next year or two until Irna, herself, wrote it again briefly?

For some reason, I recall RG being on GL around the time of the Infinity storyline, and she was even in Lujack's music video.  (Perfect training, I guess, for those all-musical episodes of "Head of the Class").

Hey, big Guiding Light fan here. Watched it on TV, have years of episodes on DVD, etc. I found this website a few days ago in a search for Kimberely Simms because I have always loved her Mindy Lewis. I've been reading posts on here and love seeing other fans' thoughts, opinions, history, etc.

Other than KS as Mindy I also love the late, great Beverly McKinsey as Alexandra, Sherry Stringfield as Blake, Cynthia Watros as Annie, Michael Zaslow as Roger, Wendy Moniz as Dinah, Toby Poser as Amanda, Rick Hearst as Alan-Michael, Maureen Garrett as Holly, Jean Carol as Nadine, Amelia Marshall as Gilly, PP as Vivian, Fiona Hutchinson as Jenna, Leonard Stabb as Hart, Nia Long as Kat, Melissa Hayden as Bridget.

I think GL was excellent from 1990 to 1993 (especially 1991 and 1992) and also 1997. I think 2002 was their last good year.

Well, we do not know where Meta and her family lived when she was "a girl." We only met the Bauers in 1948 when all three children had already grown up. So it doesn't actively contradict established history to indicate that perhaps the Bauers had lived in, or visited, Five Points twenty+ years before we met them. And as a travelling minister, Rev. Ruthledge could have visited any other town which the Bauers called home before they began appearing on TGL. So I gave write Claire Labine a pass on this scene, because she was trying to weave history into the present day, and I got so verklempt just hearing Rev. Ruthledge's name. I can accept that the Bauers had known John Ruthledge because it ties together the first two "periods" of the show's history.

Yes, this is a more egregious/careless error; harder to explain away or excuse.

As far as we know, Rev. Ruthledge only had a daughter named Mary.

Steven Ruthledge was said to be the original John Ruthledge's "grandson," but to bear that family name, Mary Ruthledge Holden would have had to give birth as a single woman to Steven, and bestow upon him her own maiden name rather than his father's surname.

Or, possibly Rev. Ruthledge had met a woman while he was in Europe and sired a son by her before his death in 1946.

Both these theories are possible, but viewers should NOT have to do mental cartwheels in order to justify what we see on-screen. With the introduction of Steven Ruthledge, it looked to me like the writers had done a half-assed job of examining history, and did not care much if they had made a continuity error. They probably figured that no one in the audience would know or care.

These's 26 yrs old episodes are more socially relevant than present day soaps. Vinny's attack on Stavros  is hard to watch. As are the disgusting racialist comments he makes at Kat & David. If hatemonger Vinny was on today. They would make him the shows leading man. This is the GL i feel in love with.

She is diabolical! Remember in this scene she offered Martin a brownie? In this episode its revealed that when he was a kid, Ted used to bring him to a restaurant where the waitress would give him brownies....that waitress was Leslie. She was playing games and trying to job his childhood memory
    • Yay!!!!!! And made it ON TIME, TOO!!!   And this is giving DAYS reveals circa late 90s already.
    • Bish what? I was not expecting that, I was for sure expecting him to go after Nicole (He still can). Looks like Leslie put her out! I love these new developments, Eva Dorian Lording her way into Fairmont Crest. My good sis better trap that doctor.
    • It should be in its synopsis on the DVR description of the show.
    • Well, in a way DAYS "Renee Dumonde DiMera Threw a Party & Invited Everyone & Then Told the Whole Town Off" if you see what I mean. She definitely pretended that she was throwing this shindig for a pleasant reason while she KNEW her real intent wasn't pleasant AT ALL. And, everyone in Salem was targeted by her in this way.  I mean it was supposedly a celebration of her engagement. But, that is not what happened! I think it checks off all your boxes. And, before today I would definitely have called it "singular". There was nothing like it. Now, there's something not only similar but possibly .... more far-reaching? I was just struck by a thought. When MVJ was tasked to write a catfight, she wrote the best catfight that has ever existed. I'm not sure but what if she's done it again?!!
    • What's with this show constantly encouraging women to take back men who aren't worth a damn, then end up doing it lol. This was realistically a 4-episode week considering all the flashbacks to the showstopper can collectively form a 19-minute episode on its own.
    • Another episode uploaded. Love Chandler introduction.

    • Naomi was in Monday's episode, though the client wasn't. Naomi and Jacob were at Uptown with Chelsea, Allison, Derek, and Ashley. And what an amazing episode that was today. Tricia Mann-Grant was absolute perfection as was Ambyr Michelle. I cannot wait to see Dana mix it up with the Duprees, especially Anita.
    • This is me *pea green with envy* *sigh* The Reva vortex was like an F5 tornado. Widespread mayhem and damage.
