This will keep the show stable for a while but I suspect the commuters will get sick of the routine in short order especially since they have to eat the costs themselves.

I'm not so sure about that.

They were giving relocation costs to the movers. So, especially for marquee players, I would be shocked if they didn't offer a "travel allowance" or something like that.

I'd personally be surprised if Michael Knight moved...I have this image of him holed up in his NY apt when he is not on set...so I'd add him to commuting.

If both Darnell and Debbi commute, that works for the show. Because it means they can schedule their scenes in a block...tape 15 episodes in 2-3 days or whatever. They like doing that these days.

The implication of commuters (witness Tricia Cast on my show, Y&R) is that their stories will be islanded and you'll only see them for "clusters" in a given month, to accommodate their relatively few days on set.
