The human suits are dropping at an alarming rate that is for sure.

Somehow the idea of gay marriage being banned is even more horrifying to me, if that's possible. With abortion the White Christian Nationalists can pretend they are trying to save babies. With same sex marriage the mask comes off the serial killer and we are forced to acknowledge what is really happening. That this was never about babies at all. It's about WCN and anyone who doesn't conform to that is in danger.

This is the man who posted a photo of himself with a bottle of Corona in early 2020 just to  troll people who were worried about being sick and dying. He's just a ghoul, and seeing people trying to rationalize his ugliness is another example of a subset on social media who either get paid to lie or who have to deny  reality to get through the days.

They have already destroyed public schools and brought back segregation as it is - they might as well go all the way in their minds. I'm sure Clarence Thomas would cheer them on.

Speaking of not caring about subtlety:

(this is the Hitler-praising Congresswoman)

Oh they will come up with fancy wording - it's not about gay marriage, it's about a wrong legal decision, you can support gay marriage and oppose Obergefell (that's the line Ben Shapiro is using, even though he is virulently anti-gay to the point of not even bothering to fake it with sycophantic grifters like Dave Rubin). I would like to think the honesty in  their bigotry will make a difference with voters, but I don't think that country exists, and it never has. If it takes a half-dollar off gas, death camps would get a collective shrug.

Wasn't this one of those things Manchin was angry about as he saw  it as making people lazy? I can't  keep track.

For me, the biggest takeaway from the hearings and the SCOTUS rulings was that I underestimated Trump because he was such a buffoon.

I thought it was all political theater and nothing would ever come of it.  I went to the Woman's March and Black Lives Matter protests secure in the knowledge that justice prevails.  I refused to believe that we're truly a divided nation because I live in a big city and only socialize with people who hold similar beliefs.  I've also always been an optimist and my faith is rooted in the knowledge that progressive civil rights is the ultimate future of this nation.

But, now my eyes have been open.

I am so sorry for all of you. There was a time when I loved everything about the USA (it's one of the reasons I went there as an exchange student in the late 90's), but watching what has been happening the last 20 years, it just makes me cry. This doesn't impact me really, but I am absolutely devastated by all this.

Cornyn isn't so much as trolling as he's letting people know what is possibly coming down the line.

As said before, Republicans has been passing anti abortions laws on the local and state level and it was a foregone conclusion at least to me anyway that they were going to do it the federal level.

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.
    • I'm glad a lot of people are continuing to enjoy this show.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.
