Ordinarily, I avoid both (in the beginning, it was just Walmart, which I rarely even ventured into, since there were almost no stores in my area anyway. But over the past few years, I added Amazon to the "no buy" list even though, once upon a time, I used to place orders with Amazon dating back to the late 1990s!)  Last year during the pandemic, they were literally just only two places that had certain necessities in stock that weren't charging exorbitant fees and had timely delivery. It pained me but I had to bite the bullet and order. Thankfully it was only about six or seven times for the entire 2020.

Kroger still exists? We had one when I was a teen. I use to go in just to read the soap mags and check out the latest Nielsen ratings.

It went out of business due to Wal-Mart.

We have an Amazon Fresh supermarket in my neighborhood.  It seems built for delivery rather than weekly shopping, because it looks more like a warehouse than a market.  But, the oddest thing is that they are frequently out of stock on major items like flour and soda pop.  If Amazon is out of stock, you know the supply chain must be an issue.

At least I can say that I stopped watching The Dr. Oz show about a year after it debuted, so I didn't have to be a witness to the rise of this charlatan.

It's really a shame though, that someone who could exude such charisma and could have done so much to foster greater trust and connection between people and the medical community seems to have done the opposite. There are a cavalcade of kooks running on the GOP side for the Senate in PA, including a former soap opera actress, who was an ambassador under Trump.

ditto. And the thing that makes me mad about Amazon is seeing the same products or very similar in quantity be so vastly different in price, for the same thing.  Like this past week, I was sick of buying soup by 2 or 3 cans at a time (I know - white people problem) - I just like to use my reusable/recyclable bags at the grocery store and you can only carry so much - so I went to Amazon and found VERY different prices on Progresso soups  - same ounces per can, but 5 cans versus 8 cans - and they were the SAME price.  Same soup.  5 cans vs. 8 cans.  Someone could easily pay that amount of money for 5 cans and could get 8 right next to it.  The 8 was closer to what the price should be per can.  If you hadn't noticed and bought the 5 can choice, it was $24.99.  FIVE DOLLARS EACH Per CAN.  That's INSANE.  It's that way with SO many things I see.  Same product, different prices for no reason, and just out and out GOUGING.  BOTH of my examples were from WHOLE FOODS!!

    • Kim Zimmer could have had a nice career as a supporting actress in Hollywood, but that does not appear to be what she wanted. That's fine, but in the eighties, she was not going to have many options as a leading actress. The eighties were brutal for a performer like her.  Her one big film role lasted a minute or two. Even while she was on GL, she should have been doing episodic television. Was her agent that incompetent or was she just bad at auditioning? Her episode of "Designing Women" was quite popular and was discussed at the time for its subject matter, but she never followed up on it. It's bizarre to me.
    • Billy just showed up for Vanessa's memorial (Sept 9, '96), which is so nice!  My first time seeing him like this outside of random clips from the past. He's out of jail for 24 hours, so not long. It's good to see him with the family.
    • Definitely was more recent than not; when the set originally returned, the change hadn't happened.
    • It was nice seeing Victorias house and I see it’s been remodelled. I’m sure this happened awhile ago but since I tuned out from the show for so long I am only noticing it now. Looks beautiful though!  Also, Billy and Sally gross me out so much. I don’t know what it is I hate so much about them. They give me the ick. Definitely a mismatch. I don’t buy that these people would be attracted to eachother in real life much less have a relationship..

    • Also, isn’t there supposed to be a storyline with Mariah and Tessa? Mariah cheating or something (keeping some kind of secret) and they were only on screen 2 and 3 times this month. Like what? How am I supposed to care when I barely see them?
    • Definitely wouldn't trust Dinah right now haha.  But that's great to know Billy comes back soon!  I'm excited for that. If he's at the boardinghouse, then I guess he does get closer to Nola perhaps, and then he'll be around Peter/Bridget and J, who is currently in his orbit along with Michelle and Dahlia, and Marcus is at the boardinghouse, so maybe they go the teenage story route most of this time until Billy gets back.
    • Sounds like me, but I prefer to be referred to as Contessa. We all know I can go a long time not paying attention to certain things.  And, if I might add, hey there dude, you effed up pretty good this time and I think this was your last chance. So don't let the door hit you in your behind as you go BYE MOMMY!
    • That did cross my mind at first, but I'd be more inclined to believe it if this didn't involve Trump. I'm not at all sure he is capable of being that sneaky. Of course, there's always a possibility I guess that his advisors are doing it without telling him, but that seems awfully risky. Trump is such a loose cannon you can never predict what he's going to do or say.
    • Whoa. She should have fought like hell to get that. Was it the greatest show ever? No, but it had a fantastic cast and was practically guaranteed to last multiple seasons because of its star power. Could have certainly led to bigger and better things. If it had flopped she could have always gone back to soaps. Judith Light broke through on a sitcom where she was basically second banana to Tony Danza. That grew into a very busy and distinguished career. The woman is still regularly booked to this day.
