The word "sterile" is trending because people are lambasting Melania's makeover of the White House gardens. Part of my thinks that her taste is about as bad and awful as her husband's but the other part of me also thinks that she may be purposefully riling up people to get angry, hoping her sojourn in the White House will come to an end soon.

@DramatistDreamer I saw earlier that Rand Paul is pushing for the Post Office to start cutting rural service to 3 times a week. I wonder if these voters will ever wake up.

26 Republicans joined the Democrats in the House to pass a funding Post Office bill today. It isn't going anywhere, but it is, sadly, the biggest revolt McConnell and Trump have faced.

I will bet half of my next paycheck that Trump will get a bump though. If Biden wins with the deck that is stacked against him by the media, the numerous voter suppression tactics, it will be a great achievement.

I do agree Trump will get a bounce (there are pollsters who exist solely to inflate numbers for him). I didn't think Biden would get much - the truth is no politicians have gotten much in years. The media doesn't want to talk about that though.

I know the media will convince everyone the RNC strategy is great, but other than moving some people in Florida I'm not sure how many will care. It feels very stale.

It's something I thought about when Bernie was in the primary.  I can see why people who lived under failed socialist regimes are afraid of people like him and his followers, even though I agree with some of their ideas, I could see the dangers in their demands for ideological purity.  However, the nominee is JOE BIDEN for the love of God! He is a middle of the road capitalist if there ever was one. The Republicans are not going to convince many people that he is going to turn our nation radically left, imo.

The whole scare tactic that the Democratic Party is too far left didn't work in the midterms and it won't work this year. There is a dissonance between the rhetoric and what much of the public believes. Republicans are trying to make out like Biden is a terrifying communist, but it just isn't believable. If anything Trump is a terrifying right-winger that can be successfully portrayed as such and he's also a negative person all around. It was no mistake that the convention played up Biden's humanity and his commitment to his family (and Harris' family commitments were played up too).

Glenn Greenwald's latest bright boy has said adieu to his political future after his past as a childhood revenge porn blackmailer of fellow 12-13 yos was revealed. But first, he'd like to blame cancel culture and feminism.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
    • And in case anyone is confused; Rusty was hired by HB to work undercover and infiltrate some gang sabotaging Lewis.

    • The Dallas finale was the highest-rated episode since October 9, 1987 (Gone with the Wind). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of Murder, She Wrote was October 23, 1987 (Tough Love). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of The Cosby Show was February 22, 1985 (Shattered Dreams).
