I'm quite sure the Bolton or the Shaggy DA (showing my age range) as I like to call him will be okay. He will probably be make money as an overseer of Trump's various migrant and soon to be homeless for profit concentration camps or show up as a contributor on CNN or MSNBC.

As an neighboring NC-12 resident, I'm not surprised  that Bishop won due to heavily gerrymandered district. The moral of this story, is cheat until it finally goes in your favor.

How it got to this point in NC:

When Obama was elected, he used his own organizing operation (OFA) instead of the party's, which left the party machine underfunded, understaffed and with unclear future/purpose. Partly as a result, the NC Dems Party was in total shambles for much of the last decade (prior to 2018).

- The Monied Right understood better than the Dems how big 2010 would be, both nationally and in NC. The off-election census years are huge for the GOP (and vice versa is true for Dems...one reason why it's so important that they get 2020 right). Take over states in 2010, wait for census results, then cement in those majorities for at least a decade. The Koch/Pope machine spent unprecedented amounts of cash in 2010 to get Republicans elected to state House and Senate seats in NC. It's certainly paid off for them.

- This guy Hoffelder and his amazing (unconstitutional/illegal) computer drawing lines. Not just in NC but other states like Pennsylvania as well. What's even more amazing is that his daughter is basically single-handedly undoing all of his immoral and illegal work in the year after his death.

- The complete lack of respect for the law and the voter by the NC GOP in them choosing their electorate. I stopped counting a couple years back, but back then their voter suppression efforts had been struck down by courts something like 10 times. And I know it's happened more since (like the recent NC COA ruling). Voter ID (where military ID is allowed but state student ID isn't?). Curbing early voting. Removing polling places from college campuses. And, yeah, majorly the gerrymandering. You may recall that on the day after the 2016 election, the NC GOP put out a press release bragging that black turnout was down. That was maybe  of one of the most blatantly  unamerican thing I've ever seen ,  celebrating that fewer people voted.

The rise of populism and the GOP's willingness to embrace it. Hopefully the Dems find their message and their messenger in 2020. Not know-nothing populism that has infected the right, but an actual platform around helping working Americans and candidates that can sell it.

All that said, NC has a Dem governor, Attorney General, and Supreme Court. Take away Tillis' senate seat and that's a good number of Dems elected statewide. New maps will be drawn in 2021...

You know Melania doesn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about vaping.

I read that "edgy" comedian Bill Burr is attacking Michelle Obama for his latest standup special and we're all meant to be amazed and in disbelief at his bravery. Never mind that 8 years were spent calling her a terrorist, a socialist, and attacking her (and her husband and children) in the ugliest and most racially charged terms.

I'm confused.  Is he saying Barron is vaping?

This is just like when Reagan ignored the AIDS crisis in the '80's, yet acted like a bunch of businessmen coming down with Legionnaire's (sp?) Disease was a clear and present danger to all civilization.  A few morons who thought vaping would be safer than smoking cigarettes get sick, and Trump wants action yesterday.  Meanwhile, the next racially-motivated mass shooting is likely right around the corner, and all he can think to do is tag the mentally ill for "surveillance purposes."

It's extraordinary just how backward we've gone in this country from Obama, Clinton and even George W. Bush.

You know that Burr can attack Michelle Obama because his wife is black (sarcasm). Along with comedian  Dave Chapelle going attacking the LBGT community, the Me Too and the PC crowd, conservatives have some kindred spirits within the elite "liberal" comedian community.

I must have the source/poster blocked because I'm not seeing all the posts.  Oh well.  Trump has his children working in the White House, so can we all stop looking at this White House/administration as being like any of the others?  Trump Inc. has 'crossed the rubicon' concerning normal standards so why should his administration and family get treated with kid gloves?

This administration locks children in cages, allows toddlers to sit in their own soiled diapers for days, not hours and refuses to give badly needed feminine hygiene products to teenage girls.  So I have to RME at the "standards police" now trying to lecture anyone about how children are discussed when the Trump WH continues to tear children away from their parents/families.  Vulnerable children who are fleeing violence and violent acts of nature like hurricanes (do those people read and care about the young girl who was just separated from her parents coming off a plane to Miami from the Bahamas, where their home was destroyed by hurricane Dorian).

People trying to "shame" people over Trump kids can take that wagging finger of disapproval elsewhere because like other posters mentioned when the insults were hurled at the Obama daughters (during the worst of the fight again the ACA), Republicans, right-wingers et al. didn't care. Suddenly they care?  GMAB. Go somewhere else with that!

I didn't want to post a rant today but honestly, why is anyone pretending that this WH of vipers adheres to any normal standards of decorum or engagement. It makes me want to quote that infamous Michael Jordan quote.

    • Martin and Smitty's kids not being there seemed like a glaring omission. Also, Naomi and Jacob weren't there as well. I know some of this is probably budget, but it seems like there could be a way to still have them all there.
    • Thanks so much for finding this & posting it. This makes me so angry!!!
    • Dani had a flashback of Dani getting ready for an event with Bill. The gown she wore in the flashback was light green and elegant and gorgeous. The light green flashback dress was quite different than the red/orange/lilac swirling print beaded gown that Dani is wearing to Nicole's anniversary party.   But there was clearly the show's intention to have the Dupree women (except for Nicole) wearing shades of red.   I love Anita but the red gown that she's wearing to the anniversary party -- not flattering.
    • I think you can find them here https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/OLTL What's there is recaps from SOD at the times it shows which is usually from way back up till 2003. Most if not all of this is due to Matt Smith who you may recall from his AW playlists on YoutTube.
    • Party wardrobe color theme: Good Queen Nicole is in a solid gold gown. The other Dupree women (plus Smitty) are wearing shades of red/pink (with purple accents) -- Anita, Dani, Chelsea, Kat, in dresses. -- Smitty in white shirt and maroon jacket. (did not see Naomi?) "The help" Eva and Mona are in black. Antagonist queen Leslie/Dana in a black/gold gown. The men (except for Smitty) are wearing black. Ted - white shirt, black tie, black jacket. (Ted's jacket was shiny with back polka dots on black background) Vernon - black turtleneck, white dress shirt over it, black jacket (no tie). Andre - black T-shirt, gold chain, black jacket. Martin - black shirt, black tie, black jacket. Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald - white shirt, black tie, black jacket. (did not see Jacob?) I didn't see Naomi and Jacob at the party, but perhaps they arrive later? The evening is not over yet.

I enjoyed his scenes with Johnny. Both of their perspectives make perfect sense to me and are completely relatable. There’s no right or wrong person in this situation and I like that. LH  does pretty well when Tate is angry too, but I also liked the way that he comforted Johnny in the end. Days is finally remembering that they’re cousins. And, Johnny looked hot in the beginning   Btw, Johnny going to work for Xander? That could be interesting. And, also can cause some more animosity between him and EJ.  And again, Marlena/Belle were great. Scenes like theirs really seem to be commonplace under Paula/Jeanne and I couldn’t be happier that they are. It’s helps us get a much better understanding of these characters and why they do the things that they do and feel the way that they feel. Marlena supporting Belle was a bit of surprise, considering her insane reaction when she walked in on EJ and Belle, but I also feel that it’s totally in character for her, both as a psychiatrist and as Belle’s mother.  As for Sophia and Amy… I miss the first Sophia lol but I can’t help but think that Amy suddenly being so nice is foreshadowing of something. Either that, or Paula/Jeanne aren’t biased against her
    • @alwaysAMC Great mini-review as always.  That Gilly story is...certainly one I could not forget... I imagine a number of viewers were shocked with the temporary recast. It was revealed in the soap magazines, as was the news about Frank Beaty's breakdown, I think. I think Wolf had some statements or an interview at the time but very little. I wish someone could interview him. He did a good job under extremely tough circumstances.  For some reason I have a vague memory of him in the Marian getup but that's probably not right.  I'm glad you have appreciated the material with Susan after a shaky start. I always enjoyed her, and she was the only love interest I liked Nick with.

When Doug died on May 1st, 1989, it was a huge loss to the show, the other actors & also to the fans.
