Have you all seen this video on how a typical soap episode is made? It's from about a year before ATWT was canceled.

I gained some insights into how challenging this can be. ATWT was moved from its more expensive Manhattan studios to Brooklyn about 10 years before it was cancelled. I was struck by how small each room looks and how close the camera is to the actors. I feel like soaps filmed in California have much bigger studios and don't feel as cramped.

Wow, this is.. not good. I wonder if they were just going through the motions at this point since they had already known they had just been cancelled and wondering what's next for them

You can look for playlists of biggest songs of each year on Spotify or Apple music whichever one you subscribing to. I just recently went through all of the number ones from 1989 to 1991. I am going to continue

Winston Duke (Black Panther) was on Stephen Colbert last night and mentioned loving American soaps while growing up in Trinidad. He gave a shout out to SB and mentioned that Cruz was especially popular in Trinidad. Whenever anyone wore skintight jeans there, they were "Cruzing" themselves!!

I know Santa Barbara was on its last legs by this point (maybe cancellation was already a done deal), but this is still 100 times more luxurious set-wise than most soaps today!

Also, I think Eileen Davidson and Charles Grant had a lot of chemistry. This is definitely swoony, romantic early-90s soapiness. I kind of love it!

    • Oh and everyone just accepts Leslie the scamming liar's DNA test? Why is no on pressing for Ted to get his own. Why are they not questioning that Leslie could have tested Eva against herself?
    • Well it's nice to hear...since I missed the first 30 minutes, but judging from the dialogue...it was a RC day. I figured as much.    Tbf Bill said he had SEVERAL things on the Duprees so that is not at all surprising. Ted and Martin were just the beginning.      Great minds...
    • She has SOME nerve. Why was she even back at Nicole's house? She new the hell she was about to unleash and should have packed up her things the day before. I doubt there was anything in that little desk worth going back for anyway
    • Surely you are exaggerating-there must have been several mentions of Abbott Communications.
    • I thought she started to deal with medical issues that ultimately caused her death in 1994? Not sure but I thought I had read that she battled illness for quite a few years. Perhaps it started when she decided to leave the show? She was so fantastic. I will say that she and David Forsyth worked so well together; it was the only reason I watched Mayer's five months of storylines.  Thanks for posting all these SFT episodes. Boy, the Nicholson/Mayer time was a mess of some positives but mostly negative. I wonder if Mayer was hired by Ellen Barrett (or if P&G tried to get Labine and Mayer although I doubt the budget would have allowed for both) then she was let go for some reason; and/or if Erwin had months left on his contract with P&G after EON was cancelled and they placed him there before he retired. Losing Sheri then Lisa Peluso was the death knell for this struggling show. Mayer's circus story was inane.  Casting Michelle Joyner big miss; she was awful as was (and always after) John Loprieno. I don't know how that guy stayed employed on soaps for so many years. The positives were Joe Lambie, Lee Godart.  Louann Gideon was lovely but completely miscast as Liza.  Mayer fired four scriptwriters, only keeping Nancy Williams who went on to great work at GL for a decade then Passions.
    • Bill could be privy to a number of Dupree secrets.

Not her getting sad over the Febreze!
    • Today when Anita and Vernon were talking about Bill, they referenced whatever mystery thing he covered up.  This time, with how they worded it, it seemed to be a cover-up about *them*.  So now I wonder if it was something else *in addition* to the Martin secret.
    • She really got to me today. She's doing a great job making Eva a character you just can't help but root for.
    • "Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas, Aristotle Dumas" There, I summed up today's episode.
