OK, first, ITA. And secondly, JR is doing what?! :blink:

lol - I agree to an extent - but let's be real with the JR thing...he was hurt and DRUNK today - he didn't howl and he just said "lesbo" in a drunken state. No big deal.

LMAO at Erica trying to push JR....That ending was really good! I can't wait for tomorrow. In the previews, Erica makes it seem like she wants them to leave JR to die! Damn girl!

Why is it that the dialogue on AMC is always the tackiest, most immature drivel? I'm all for sparkling patter but there seems to only be a single voice on that show for both women and men - [!@#$%^&*]y, longwinded, tacky cattiness with a healthy dollop of pop culture references. Kendall Hart talks like something out of Valley Of The Dolls everyday. Now as a GLBT viewer I love cattiness in and of itself, but I wish not everyone talked like someone out of Soapdish or Desperate Housewives, including the older characters. This nonsense with JR running around howling "lesbo" is just the latest. Everyone sounds like a [!@#$%^&*]y teenager.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol::lol::lol:

Thank you, Vee!! I SOOOO TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!! Right on!! 100% I'm a GLBT viewer myself, and yes, I tend to love dialog that's peppered with one liners or punctuated with a quip here and there... but this is not a damn sitcom! Everybody doesn't have to be so witty, sharp and clever all the damn time!

You expressed one of my major gripes (and I haven't watched yet, so I don't know if she wrote any part of today's episode... AlwaysAMC, help me out, babes!) with Amanda L. Beall's writing. Each and every single word you just wrote, especially the ones in bold, are precisely why I say ENOUGH! She's a little too self aware with her writing, and this is how it manifests itself.

It's all glitz and glam to hide what's sorely lacking from this show's writing as a whole -- HEART AND SOUL MIXED IN WITH TRUTHFUL, HUMAN RESPONSES! This show's not character driven -- it's gimmick driven, and the ba-dum-bum CHING style script writing is just another gimmick.

Kendall is basically written as a drag queen at this point. The sad thing is, I don't think it's any gay or lesbian writers writing it. I think they've pushed them all to caricature. Whenever I see AMC now, which is very rarely, she just annoys the hell out of me. It just sounds so fake and forced. And it's not her, it's everyone.

Haha - you are right - Amanda L. Beall and Jeff Beldner (and some other chick I can't remember)....but surprise surprise, I love me some Amanda L. Beall writing! haha :lol:

I'll give it to AMC, though I HATE this freakin storyline....Alexa, Jacob, Eden and the others involved are doing a great job. It's great acting that makes horrible storylines even remotely watchable.

The writing for Kendall these days is just attrocious. I watched some scenes from when Alicia first joined the show and there is a HUGE difference. One thing I hate about certain writer's opinions on character development is that they completely change who the character is.

Just b/c Kendall is now w/ baby doesn't mean that she still can't be an uber-bitch.

Ugh and Colby...the writing for her and ALL the teens on AMC suck. Colby doesn't need her mouth washed out with soap, she needs her mouth douched!

ITA - major major major case in point would be Greenlee Smythe! I love Rebecca and want her back, but not until a new writer comes in.

LMAO!

I actually don't find the dialouge as "pop-culture" ready as it was when Greenlee was also in at Fusion. You add in the Fusion atmosphere and it is very high schoolish at any time and point, now and then. Then there was the evil JR phase, every word a "verbal jab." Less Fusion, less evil JR, less "I'm a smart a**" material. It doesn't really annoy me unless we're in those two arena plus an actual high-school (i.e. the teen scene now) - it's in character to be a smart a** for a good bunch of these character but sometimes AMC has it too much, too everywhere. The I'm a saint/god material is as cliche as the smart a** material, and McTavish is so into one extreme or the next at any one time.

I don't blame the script-writers as much as I blame McTavish, sometimes trying to smart-** the writing is the only thing left to give to that dying hamster (all theses characters, couples with these storylines) spinning on that dirty, dusty, broken up wheel (the writers choice of storylines and story moves) they can't get off of. Yes, sure a good script-writer should add could texture to even the crappiest directions, but Amanda Beall is probably one of their better script writers, so...

Back to today's episode, Erica and her choice of stabbing material, LOL. I love that she's so quick to stab!

LMAO at erica pushing jr and then getting a sharp object to keep him from leaving. Jr sure did back away when erica got that pointed object, I don't blame him erica has stabbed 3 people in the past with sharp objects dimitri, mike roy and zach.

So babes cheating on jr is because of jr according to binks and josh, so babe shouldn't be blamed in any of this???? These writers stink. I was actually liking binks today until she started propping babe.

I bet its adam that blabs to jack about jeff/erica almost kissing, because I thought I read that jack gets really angry, and erica refuses to move back in with him.

I liked her too, at first. For all the same reasons that I dislike her now. It's just before, it was fresh and new to AMC.

But come on! What does it say about her writing when someone can less than favorably criticize it and I know exactly who to blame, sight unseen, sound unheard? At least she stands out, which is a plus I guess. But it's a shame that -- for me -- it's for all the wrong reasons.

I wish she stood out like Michele Val Jean on General Hospital. Deep, rich, truthful, character-specific quality dialog writing. I love how MVJ writes Skye and Alexis dialog. While they both use big words, being educated women, MVJ always writes Skye's dialog more poetic, while Alexis more intellectual.

Just one of some incredibly insightful posts all-around (including Skin's & R Sinclair's) about the state of and problems with the writing, particularly the day-to-day dialogue. Outstanding. Greenlee, imo was the champion unfortunate recipient of McTavish's Famous Snappy Pop Culture Alliteration. They tried WAAAAAY too hard with her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jacob and Eden were FANTASTIC and finally some true intensity for Eden to grab a hold of. Two great actors capable of giving their characters such layers when the writing is there. IMO some of their dialogue was almost non-sensical, but as said above...the phenomenal acting trumped the content in these scenes. Finally, a reminder of what Eden can contribute.
Well. we see what JH McFronish thinks Bianca's good for, hmm? First Michael, then TumorBoy, now JR. Sexually/physically threaten? She's your girl! Have a real, fully developed, somewhat sensical love story? Naaaaaah...too risque for flyover country.
Bianca laying the blame all at JR's feet? *sigh* The show has NEVER really explained to any serious or comprehensible degree why Bianca treats JR and Babe differently. Yes, it must be her magical cootchie. But Bianca should have AT LEAST gotten to shag her one time like everyone else! Jeez. See discrimination lives! :lol:
I understand people's rejection of JR as a bad guy (in that he has some justification). I personally HATE what they've done to JR. But similarly to folks saying that Madden's evil efforts did not justify his murder...Babe's sleazy/evil antics (being a whore and liar) do NOT justify trying to kill and/or wrecklessly endanger half the town, The Kane Girls and now himself. Bianca has her obvious biases, but she's right in that JR always lands on his feet without paying a price for his own violent actions.
If the writing for JR isn't changed, the character is in serious, serious longterm danger, imo. I held out for JR for a loooooong time (and I think babe is SkankHo-ish Sociopath who needs to be put down, make no mistake). Adding the psycho-ish sexual intimidation a la The Cambius-Kind-of-Creepy JR brought today. Jesus.
The sorry point of it all is that JR (violent drunk) and Bianca (clueless? nutty? ignorant?) have together become The Official Hayward Cousin Doormats in all of PV (and I say this as a total Binky Beeetch)...and yet, they are enemies. Bleh. The UnAbortion, too...I just don't give a flip about him.
In all that dialogue today, McT did not even acknowledge Bianca and JR's friendship from way, way back. These scenes were a chance to repair damage to their friendship. Wasted.
Alexa did a really nice job today. And a really nice job yesterday in the final scenes. Babe, can go to hell...now!
I'll give Colin some begrudging credit for his work. Josh, can go to hell...now!
I am just SICK of hearing Krystal's voice these days (and I am Southern and like Bobbie Eakes) never mind, what she says.
Lily=Don't Care
JonJon=HATE!
Amanda=Sad Sack
Sean=Don't Care
Colby=Voice or Reason!/Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!Baby
Jack=Sad It's Come to This
Brooke=Quota to Meet Brooke Spoiler in Fall Preview Mag Before Firing
Erica+Jeff=Zzzzzzzzzz
Erica+GazelleHeadGeeGaw=Only Works as a Weapon if Antlers are Pointed Out, LaKane...out! :P
JR's Inexplicable Flight Over the Balcony=Silly and Unmotivated by The Scene
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Regarding the tossing around the "lesbo" today, it would be one thing if JR did it once in a blue moon, but he does it A LOT to Bianca. I am a lesbian and I have a problem with quantity and the consistency with which he stoops to it. Maybe that's one reason Binky's bad mouths him.,,,but it's never been illuminated on the show.

There are plenty of things, plot points, character actions that probably will never be explained under McTavish... because there ARE no real reasons behind them

Erica hates Zach because his brother raped Bianca, but Erica LOVES Ryan even though his older brother raped Jack's sister, and his younger brother terrorized her two daughters, two stepdaughters and her daughter's baby?! (We all know Miranda is nobody's grandchild)... and then proceeds to champion her stepdaughter's marriage to said woman-beating Lavery brother?! :rolleyes:

If THAT has yet to be explained, NOTHING will.

The only reason I can see McTavish grasping at to justify Bianca's hatred overshadowing her hatred of Babe (other than the fact that McFrons love Alexa/Babe and will alienate every single viewer if need be to make her the star of the show), is his behavior toward Babe back when both Bianca and JR thought Miranda was Bess -- and before Bianca learned that Babe was waving her own child in front of her face.

But I would think all that would've been canceled out once finding out they shared the common bond of having Babe play God with who gets to have a child and who gets to lose a child -- and then switch 'em when the time's right. My favorite Amanda L. Beall line (before I became bored with her) was Bianca's "Because babies are like purses, and when we get bored, we can just trade them."

And, is it my stroke, or wasn't there a point where Bianca said that she doesn't remember the moments before the balcony fall. I remember something along the lines of her saying that even though she didn't remember, she wouldn't put it past him to push her off (which he didn't, dammit. I'm no JR fan, but this contortionist history is horrendous on this show!).

Also, in the realm of AMC's Great Unanswerable Questions, how did Erin go from being a virgin who's terrified of penis, to a brazen whore?

I'm still laughing at Erica threatening JR wit a brass gazelle.

So did they have Erica take back, and regret the abortion before she kissed Jeff, or is that special little sentence being saved for before she sleeps with him? :rolleyes:

I hate Jack and Erica, but Jeff and Erica make me want to vomit. It's disgusting on so many levels. I can not believe AMC is letting MMT go there. I so wanted to be wrong. :(
