I know the following year 2003’s “Hot Enough For You” with that Daniel Bedingfield song also generated some controversy as well for racy content, mainly for a B&B ad that showed Amber holding Little Eric over a cliff with the announcer yelling “Is this hot enough for you?!” and that Bedingfield appeared on GL to sing his song (very poorly) at the Bauer BBQ or something.

That Lauren and Michael scene looked pretty cringeworthy and silly….let me guess Michael ends up having a heart attack having sex with Lauren? 🤣 Wouldn’t be a first for Lauren… Thanks for sharing that!! I remember CBS’ “Get it On” campaign was widely criticized back in 2002 for some racy ATWT and GL ads, but here we are 20 years later and I’m wondering what the fuss was all about now. Maybe @kalbir or @DRW50 remember why lol?

Ya I mentioned something a few weeks ago when Summer brought up Marchetti’s woes how unbelievable that story was. It would have been easier to say Summer was tired of working for Angelina despite the experience and wanted to go back to a family business. As for Kyle it could be easily said he has new ideas for new Jabot and wants to come to home test them out and work with Jack hand in hand with it. Instead, a famous glamorous premiere fashion of Milan gets moved to….Genoa City Wisconsin….? LMAO WTH? Even moving like that to say Chicago would be a bit of a stretch lol. Er a no here as well. Billy just got engaged with Lily and isn’t over Victoria yet. Not to mention they have been clearly testing out Kyle & Chelsea too as of late lol. Chelsea should have died with Rey.

Just was saying that because the Abbott family has been decimated and aside from Johnny and Katie none of those other kids have any relevance to the Abbotts not to mention except for Reed should continue to SOARLess. I think Y&R should have been the one soap that should have aged it’s kids naturally but that’s a different conversation for another day. LMAO they show flashbacks in reverse for Victor & Ashley arguing over the abortion to showing Victor giving Ashley a watch. Ashley was clearly one of Bill Bell’s favorite characters he had ever written for. Now onto 6/20 wow Lauren is such a busybody. Actually the way how Lauren described on how she has been “keeps tabs on Diane” sounded borderline stalking. I am glad Summer despite her doubts kept her cool and her perseverance for peace though. Amazing how new Summer actually comes off as more mature, classy and sophisticated compared to Nikki and Lauren. As always the Diane scenes with Kyle and Harrison were definitely the highlight of the episode.

LOL why doesn’t Li’s car abruptly ignite in the back no less after being rammed in the rear by Sheila? Shouldn’t it have been Sheila’s car to explode? 🤣 Nice well done stunt overall though, so much better than Steffy’s motorcycle accident a couple years back. My guess is Li will come back disfigured with a veil or a recast with plastic surgery lol.

Victoria starting a rival business to Newman? LOL that makes zero sense and is pretty unbelievable/unrealistic. At the very least why not have the two start their own successful high end consulting firm? Victoria and Ashland probably could be written off for a while there or just have their roles reduced to a couple eps a month as they build back their relationship and sure start a high end art auction house/business. The real kicker is that Victor actually misses Victoria’s business savvy but she refuses to get back involved with Newman again.

@janea4old Remember there was that funny spoiler a month or so back about “Phyllis weaves a tangled web when she practices to deceive”? I wonder if this is what they were talking about lol. But I agree with your assessment and it will be interesting to see Phyllis again in her true form, something we haven’t seen in quite some time. Seeing Phyllis stalk around in a big hat is hilarious. I figured she would be the one to become unhinged at some point which she already has a bit when she has lost it a bit talking to Summer. At the very least should be a fun summer on this end. Gloria, Chelsea, and Chloe? 😴😴😴 I thought there was a spoiler about Chelsea going nuts too but so far she’s barely appeared this month. Not that I am complaining lol. It would be interesting to see if Imani and Amanda have some type of schism.

Actually pretty good at the moment, especially since new Summer is such a breath of fresh air, Kyle is more mature now and the return of Diane has really changed up the dynamics. The Abbott family has definitely been energized again, something that’s been needed for a long time now. As Y&R’s 50th anniversary approaches it would be great to see Allie and Ashley work in the lab together to come up with a new potion for Jabot while Traci writes a book and finally snags up washed up Danny along the way lol. Agreed!! Amazingly the current regime hasn’t shied away from Brad flashbacks before, Idk if it was the Covid reruns or not but Brad flashbacks occurred in the 12000th episode and a couple times last year as well. If there is one thing current Y&R does really well it is nostalgia and acknowledging its past.

Overall the tribute episode was pretty good but it also showed the shortcomings of failing to properly expand the Abbott family as well as the the destruction of the Abbotts over the years. Ashley should have had at least one more kid in there somewhere…maybe a son by Stephen Lassiter that was raised by Victor while Traci should have had at least two other kids fathered by Steve Connelly. Brad and Colleen should have never been killed off. Actually Ashley’s son Robert could have easily lived as well. Jack Smith, Latham, MAB, and Mal Young all have Abbott blood on their hands. I’m still holding out hope that Allie’s mystery mother turns out to be Mari Jo Mason 😁@YRfan23

The Synder exodus of 1994 was sad but was a sign of changing times for ATWT for sure. I think I recall there was a planned Frannie recast but it was dropped along the way who knows why. I always forget the Kasnoffs were Marland’s creation in his long term story Bible although I don’t know if they were supposed to turn out like the way they did, especially Sarah lol. I do recall reading the Kasnoffs were supposed to be victims of abuse as kids, but that idea seems like overkill to me after following all the stuff involving Angel and then Debbie Simon. Marland must have really gone through something. I could easily him trying to write for AW 1997 or something like OLTL at the time and getting the same shaft Claire Labine got around the same time period. But hey, maybe Marland could have ended his career on a high note as the celebrated writer who fixed/saved Days in the aftermath of the Tom Langan era 😁

Great summarization @DRW50!!! I am wondering if Marland sensed on some level that his time was ending soon and left him in a dark place for much of 1992. Margo’s rape, prejudiced and haunted Lisa, Holden’s amnesia, Ellie’s abortion and leaving town being on bad terms with everyone, Hal’s death, Frannie leaving town with being on bad terms with everyone, and mousy mild-mannered Vicki Harper being the one to order Carolyn Crawford’s murder? Yikes! It was a lot in succession all at one time. On the flip side it was well acclaimed, well acted and for the most part well written, except for the part where Rosanna couldn’t choose between Evan and Hutch while did we need Tonio back from the dead…? I got sick of Montega plots lol. But figured if Marland had lived he definitely would have been gone from ATWT at least by 1994 at the earliest and definitely gone by the end of 1995 as P&G soaps just all unraveled at once. I figured Marland would have retired after that unless some soap lured him lol. I can see the headlines now “Plan to save DAYS: Marland in as HW!” or “Good News! Marland back to ATWT!”.

I really don’t remember Jill and MW’s Diane interacting at all. Jill was dealing with Colin and the death of Cane followed by arrival of Genevieve 🤢, while Diane was in bed with all the Newmans. I suppose the only interaction if they had any would be some party or something, so weird to think Diane was also having the occasional one nighters with Tucker. Speaking of Lauren, when’s the last time Jill interacted with her? 🤣

Not too much exactly. Jill was married into the Abbotts when the original Patty/Jack/Diane triangle went down but I don’t know much Jill had to say in that matter except to complain about Patty moping around all the time lol. Jill and Diane were definitely on opposing sides during the time Brad and Jack took over Newman and had some words with each other for sure, but nothing major. The two overall existed in separate orbits and never had much reason to intersect.

Thanks @DRW50 for the tag!! 🙂 I know a some people didn’t care for Angel but I enjoyed her time in Oakdale and always thought Haining did a good job so I’m glad to see this here, even though this is the start of Marland’s dark era during his final two years before he passed.

+1. Didn’t mean to diminish the hearings in anyway as they are significant and need to be held in full public view. My second option from that post is the most sensible really; news is important but I still need to escape to my happy place at the end of the day. The three of them were definitely the highlights of the last two episodes. I actually loved the scenes of where Imani met Jill just classic. The Jack & Diane scenes are a breath of fresh air as they were last week. LMAO at a very hypocritical Nikki on why “do people like Ashland and Diane” get forgiven. Having an actually large crowd of extras for launch party was a pleasant surprise and gave a more natural feel and noise for the scenes opposed to all the canned noise.

1) The congressional hearings are pretty significant, but really should be on CBSN exclusive instead. With the news competition being so tight these days I think CBS would be fine to air regular programming on its main network. And 2) CBS/Paramount+ needs to follow what NBC/Peacock does and goes ahead to release the same day episode via streaming and/or late night rebroadcast. Heck with it being summer reruns just show it in primetime lol. It’s 2022 yet CBS is the one network that insists like it’s still like 1982. Maybe it’s catering to the 55+ demos LOL, but it does get obnoxious, especially since CBS had been airing soccer matches pre-emptying the soaps in large swathes of the country that apparently got extremely abysmal ratings.

Assuming there is no potential Congressional committee hearing pre-emptions, Davidson and Maitland will get their 40th anniversary episode this coming Thursday. And today Imani plotting and scheming was definitely the highlight of today’s episode. How soon before she asks Nate to join her in the shower for real? 😁

Oh definitely I enjoyed NuSummer and Sally finally encountering each other that was fun! What was not fun is the foreshadowing prospect of Kyle/Chelsea. What is that, a 3rd close encounter now? Don’t Kyle and Summer have enough drama going on without a very unnecessary character make a very unnecessary intervention in their lives? I’d bring back a recast Theo. Jack & Diane’s brief scenes were more fun and watchable than anything Newman related.

Going back to @Chris B’s comments one my fave things about Season 9 was the updated opening, although they went back the original logo. But it definitely feels like FC was headed into the 90’s. I’m mixed on Michael Sharpe. Good villain but I thought it was contrived to make him Maggie’s second cousin of all things. Personally I had wished Emma lasted all season but I was fine with her exit. Didn’t we find out she named her daughter Angela? I may continue into Season 9 just to finish it off. Personally Maggie’s horrible death was always so off putting me to it just seemed like a low disgusting move for a show already in freefall, whether it was some poetic Greek or Shakespeare tragedy or not.

So, when does Leo decapitate Abby? I can’t with this snow either.

The whole Quinn/Eric/Donna thing is extremely gross and pretty trashy. Like a leftover story from 2007 that Thudley probably wanted to tell for Stephanie instead. And yes, Quinn keeping track of Eric via one of senior health apps is pretty bad. Next thing you know Eric will accidentally push a LifeAlert pendant button while sleeping with Donna.

Thanks for the Graz update. Lol as for Heinle one may also have to wonder how she felt about her other ex Michael Weatherly being, well until recently, employed as a leading primetime star for the same network. Having Walters back in and become the show’s thunder has at the very least caused MS to step up a little. It’s sad because I clearly remember her absolutely fantastic during the pool house fire mystery and the fact Phyllis saw Kyle as her replacement for Daniel, so I like the sudden rage, but…MS still does a lot of scenery chewing and her pronunciations just don’t sound right.
