  1. Maybe half a sweeps where Diane is involved but sleeps for the rest of the show. He still looks like he’s reacting to someone with very bad gas. 🙈
  2. Both Lynde and JLB came back for the 45th anniversary but were completely MIA for the Theo story, and when a Brooks family finally appeared again she didn’t mention Theo at all lol. LOL nostalgia is something Y&R does well when they do it so major Newman wedding in Tuscany should have pulled out all the stunts…Leanna Love showing up to cover the wedding for her new gossip TV show, Cole shows up out of the blue with Nina on his arm as does a newly freed and rehabilitated JT coming with Reed while an escaped Tricia shows up hollering with a gun before all is revealed that Ashland is Prentiss Brooks seeking revenge on the way Victor did Prentiss Industries.
  3. Unfortunately any story speculation always turns out to be more interesting than what we see on the actual show. Ashland has a mysterious past and Leslie Brooks is coming to the wedding. Could Ashland be the long lost Prentiss Brooks finally realized? NOPE!!! Leslie just came to the wedding to play piano…. Noah returns and is haunted by an apparent lover back in Europe who did him seriously wrong but Noah doesn’t want to talk about who or it at all except be depressed. Did Noah have a romance and heartbreak with a guy in Europe? NOPE!!! Noah has simply been unable to get over Tessa for four years now apparently… The examples are endless….
  4. Rey’s death being a result of a sudden heart attack while driving sucks all the drama out of Ashland’s convoluted story…but also a reminder that some unknown force that isn’t JG or Morina appears to be dictating story commands. LOL a real “kill ‘em and wrap it up quick!” With Ashland still hanging around and Imani finally resurfacing with having unrequited feelings for Nate, I think it would be interesting to have the two becomes friends of Diane and change up the dynamics of GC. Actually all Imani needs is the friendship of Sally. Team Imani here because she’s far more dynamic than either Amanda or Elena are at the moment.
  5. Thank you for sharing this as well! I enjoyed the Rawlins dinner follow-up and all the juicy awkwardness associated it with it. The rest of the episode was overall a lot quieter than the previous one. Our Dynasty reject Marc strikes again with Lauren chasing after him before his date with Joanna? Eh No. I like Skip & Carol but thought the story about Skip’s dead wife was a bit too much despite the nice warmth and chemistry the pair had. What is overkill is the extremely saccharine scenes between John, Jessica, Christine and Danny. OMG. Absent any of the high stakes drama of the previous episode and just dreadful to watch. That would have been interesting. In the aftermath of Jill’s shooting it was fascinating to see both Carl and Paul had a clear disdain for Jack with Jack complaining about his ex in-laws, which was a nice touch for history as 1986 Y&R already was feeling a million years away from 1980-83 Y&R .
  6. Re: Bell and the 1988 writers strike. He officially participated but it was rumored he was dropping off scripts in a back alley late at night. 😏 Thank you @YRfan23 and @BoldRestless for that July 1988 episode! Interesting to see Stephen so dynamic at this point. Arrants had a wonderful soap past as a leading man on both SFT and Days, do we know why Y&R killed him off? It seems Ashley had nothing to do in 1989 at all. Marc was always such a lame Dynasty reject character but at least his scenes with Jill and David were fun. I don’t know much about his second run aside from his romance with Joanna and him mentioning Danielle, a half sister of his who never appeared on screen to my knowledge. Surprised he was still on at this point too but I suppose it did give Jill something in the romance department beside Michael Crawford. How did Marc leave out? Lisa was definitely spooky and chilling while acting sweet at the same time. I liked that she was in control too. It’s interesting that her behavior was easily explained—a very sheltered naive girl went had a total mental breakdown following her father’s death whom she had been so dependent on and was now obsessed/dependent with the one man she thought had actually loved her. The Nikki/Victor/Ashley triangle really was great given what the three had been through over the course of the last 3 years. More fun was the Rawlins story setup which of course would affect the show for the next 3 years.
  7. Mealor’s only facial expressions were usually just him smirking/looking smug all the time. Here he looked like a student of Drake Hogestyn’s acting school as if he just reacted to the news like as if he was smelling bad gas from Jack instead. And was there even a need for Victoria and Chelsea to interact?
  8. There was finally some actual dramatic music to go along with the scene as well of Nikki seeing Diane as well. Nikki’s reaction to learning of Deacon’s involvement was priceless. The Nick and Sharon scenes were solid but the whole thing really does sound false. Sharon talking about Rey as if he was her dog that passed or maybe a friend, but not her husband. It’s unfortunate Sharon mentioned Rey’s relatives but didn’t mention Mia at all. I wonder how she would have reacted to Rey’s passing. I guess this goes to show on how little impact Rey had on the overall show. Too bad Chelsea wasn’t in the car with him.
  9. Out of 25 years, I believe Bell did three “back from the dead” stories but the thing about Katherine and Victor’s “deaths” is we the audience knew they were alive and well for the whole duration of the story. With Sheila, we saw the setup for the meter reader show up to annoy Sheila so it made sense on screen. Since Bell left, we’ve dealt with Malcolm, Phillip III, Sharon, Adam times 4, Patty, Chloe, and now Diane all having back from the dead stories.
  10. LMAO that reminds me of that false spoiler some troll posted a while back in the spoiler forum about Esther keeping Katherine on ice complete with pictures 🤣 But yeah JG would definitely bungle such a story. We’d probably be told about a character getting murdered as opposed to seeing it happen on screen.
  11. Re: Khan’s idea of the Genoa City Slasher. I think the slasher should be Crystal, the lady in the green dress who works at Grand Phoenix. It’s revealed her she despises Phyllis as a boss and she is disgusted by the arrogance of GC so they had to die. 🤣
  12. Actually I am happy that Bridget is going to staying a while and I hope she does get some story. Bridget was such a vital character for so many years it’s unfortunate Thudley stopped writing for her but her stories had certainly started to rot…just how many times was she married to Nick and how many miscarriages did she have before having Logan? Yeesh! Also it’s nice to have a biological Forrester on canvas 😏
  13. Well it is official now. Allison Lanier is the new Summer: https://soaps.sheknows.com/the-young-and-the-restless/comings-and-goings/628990/young-restless-hunter-king-recast-summer-newman-allison-lanier/
  14. It was an ugly blue set and they took down Katherine’s portrait as Billy was living in the house around the same time he started his affair with Phyllis. Said anonymous senior very high up CBS executive was disgusted by the appearance and was very pissed off by no portrait of Mrs. Chancellor so much so he/she decided to take drastic action into their own hands… Hence why in one of Mal Young’s very first episodes he was credited as co-EP we had a scene with Jill barging in on Billy with a can of yellow paint, telling Billy off for letting the mansion go, and the episode concluding with Jill having a flashback of watching Katherine walk up the stairs one last time.
  15. LOL that reminds me of how several years ago it was revealed Austin had been cheating on Summer with Abby for weeks/months but it was only revealed after Austin died even though before Austin was murdered there had been zero evidence onscreen that Austin & Abby were having any type of affair.
  16. Pretty much. I know I mentioned in the spoiler thread it’s interesting that pretty much all of what was Y&R’s storylines came to a screeching halt the moment Diane was revealed alive, and since then it’s only been that story and the Ashland reveal since then. And now we have Rey’s sudden abrupt death out of the blue. I’m wondering who’s calling the shots at the moment lol. Remember when JFP was fired over her Chancellor mansion redesign after some senior CBS executive was repulsed by what they saw and then intervened? Give the heavy near universal criticism Y&R was getting back in the winter all over the place I have to wonder if the same executive said enough is enough and intervened again lol.
  17. She hasn’t been mentioned yet but Annie Douglas on Sunset Beach. Truly iconic as the resident bad girl vixen yet still endearing and entertaining unfortunately I don’t think there has been such a fun character on daytime since.
  18. Very true on both accounts! Although how both shows lasted so long is very mysterious at least to me. I remember Yes Dear reruns endlessly running on TBS for a few years there but I think I’ve read According to Jim flat out failed in syndication and was shelved lol. The cast of Yes Dear was a strange bunch and I’m not sure any of them even act any more. That hick guy from Boston Common who was on YD sells real estate and Lord knows what Mike O’Malley is up to since Glee ended. I mentioned War at Home, I suppose I have to give that show credit for introducing Rami Malek to the world and for the show’s family adopting Malek’s character, a gay teen who had been kicked out by his family later on in the show’s run. It was an unusual storyline for an overall tawdry trashy show. Playing all new grunge rock music on an AM (yes, AM) radio station in 1992 made zero sense.
  19. Thanks Khan, see it’s all connected afterfall! 😏 But yeah Loni was in bad shape following the divorce and guest appearances on the New WKRP (see another failed spin-off) weren’t cutting it. @VeeYou’re not wrong about the Heaton worship either in the early 00’s I didn’t get it at all. I mainly remember Everyone Loves Raymond the most for Peter Boyle & Doris Roberts because without them the show would have been long DOA. But as @Khan and @DRW50pointed out Raymond was never a cultural hit the critics thought it was, except for maybe ELR’s sophomoric humor ushered in the era of some really dumb family sitcoms, most of the times featuring a fat man and his skinny wife (King of Queens, Yes Dear, My Wife & Kids, According to Jim, Still Standing, War at Home)
  20. Hemce why the Middle succeeded lol Heaton’s, err Frankie Heck’s frequent embarrassing public meltdowns and showdowns definitely made her a Karen. 🤣 It’s unfortunate how underrated the show is as I think it could have been so much more but it didn’t last in spite the overall success. Marilu Henner said years later the show ended partly because of all those salaries to pay and partly because of Burt’s divorce from Loni.
  21. LOL she was pretty bad in the 90’s and 00’s, I’m still mad she was the one who did the crappy soap segment & montage for the terrible CBS at 75 special in 2003. God that was awful. The Middle worked out for her because she basically played herself (It also helped she also renounced the Republican talking points she use yammer around). Valerie Mahaffey is an actress I’ve always liked but I don’t think she ever found a stable role despite the steady work, recurring roles on Northern Exposure and Desperate Housewives. As for Hagerty I always will associate her with Airplane! lol. Always found it odd Bloodworth-Thomason’s other hit show at the time was Evening Shade, which was basically to me a southern version of Newhart with Burt Reynolds.
  22. @janea4old Yeah it’s strange if this is Rey’s death but what’s more like interesting is how just about every story going before Diane’s return has come to a screeching halt aside from the Ashland reveal. I’m not sure what happened but it seems to me that something has forced a deliberate change of course direction the show is headed in.
  23. I suppose Rieffel could qualify for the “Stop Trying to Make…Happen!” category thread lol. I knew she later was on King of Queens but they dropped her character halfway through the first season (sound familiar?) and barely ever mentioned her again. I hadn’t thought about Garr’s health affecting her performance but that unfortunately that does explain a lot. Most of her 90’s work is best left with the 90’s. (Mom & Dad Save the World anyone?)
  24. No she hasn’t at all, however:
  25. @Khan @Franko Thank you! Yep that’s the one I was thinking of. I couldn’t remember what it was called but remember I watched taken aback by how mediocre the show was, especially with Terri Garr, an actress I always admire, being pretty lackluster. Lisa Rieffel was on it too? Amazing she darkened both GG and DW spin-offs.
