  1. So will MS Phyllis also be giggling over Keemo’s death the same way she was giggling about Luan being deceased? 🤢
  2. The dialogue between Chance, Abby, Devon, and Amanda was really atrocious. The whole thing reminded me of some cheesy afterschool specials from the late 80s or one of those cheesy “a very special” episodes NBC family sitcoms like the Hogan Family use to do the late 80’s/early 90’s. Other than the Traci scenes and Victor and Jack scenes, today was miserable as usual. MS Phyllis giggling strangely over talking about Jack losing Luan was the worst part of the episode.
  3. I So true NBC Daytime made some serious mistakes/missteps in the 70’s and 80’s it never recovered from except for Days. To put into perspective, here’s the number of soaps that lasted more than 10 years by network: ABC: 5 CBS: 8 NBC: 3 And that is 3 is out of 30+ soaps that have aired on NBC since the dawn of television. Yikes! There was definitely unnecessary interference and impatience going from the Sarnoff/RCA era straight into the Zucker era.
  4. Sheila’s omission from the opening credits is pretty prominent. I mean even Lisa Mansfield had been squeezed into the opening credits. Not sure why Brown was left out of the 1990 and 1991 opening updates as there was three versions of this Lauren opening where should would have fit in:
  5. Zuker’s turnaround was simply amazing. She was dumped off the show unceremoniously in 2006 after being written into a corner. Within a year of her 2008 return AZ was carrying the show and was simply amazing while doing it. And count me in with Tammy Blanchard being most improved as well. When she and Drew where first introduced I thought they she was utterly pointless but by summer 1999 in the midst of Santos & San Cristobel drivel I adored Drew’s story mainly because Blanchard really put her heart into the character about her putting together a family.
  6. Yeah, Jack and Lauren should have hooked up a long time ago as I enjoy the chemistry that Bergman and Bregman have together, something Bregman and LeBlanc haven’t shared together IMO in a long time.
  7. It makes me wish that Bill and Bert had one more son (or a daughter) after Ed in the late 50’s, maybe around the time Bert’s bossy mother was living with the Bauers?
  8. Carlivati is not Y&R’s HW yet lol 😆
  9. Days would have gotten better numbers than what the Olympics have been pulling in for NBC lmao.
  10. Sadly that’s better that the alternative rumor that we discussed earlier also reminds me of the other persistent rumor that Devon & Abby are going to couple up at some point.
  11. @Soaplovers Here is what they had to say about Rae and Casey on Beach: After months of a slow build, BEACH axed this popular romance for no good reason, alienating the viewers they were struggling to attract. Casey and Rae were a charismatic couple and one of the few daytime love stories to feature an Asian-American. Since Rae's exit, lonely Casey has become the shoulder that everyone leans on. Yeah, he's been paired with Sara, but that relationship is based on the fact he helped her during the Melinda scandal and Shockwave. Kelly Hu (ex-Rae) is now starring on MARTIAL LAW, where she kicks bad-guy butt every Saturday night. Back at the beach, poor Casey's still waiting for a story. And here's what they said about Bobby/Shane @j swift First of all, if AW wanted to rehire Robert Kelker-Kelly, they should've brought back him back as Sam Fowler, the popular character he played from 1987-1990. Second, switching horses, er, careers, mid-stream made no sense. Remember when Vicky suffered head trauma in a bomb blast while she and Bobby were out in the woods? He didn't know what to do, panicked, and raced her to a doctor. Then later, we find out that this guy is a top brain surgeon? Yeah, right, whatever. Bobby turned into Saint Shane. He performed life-saving surgery on Kirkland, discovered a cure for his own "terminal" disease and then died in a car wreck last winter. Shane and Bobby are now just Bay City history. The only good to come from it was Shane's secret ex-spouse, Lila, who arrived looking for him, stayed on after his demise and has livened things up considerably for Cass.
  12. Thanks! Years ago I do remember watching MSW reruns on A&E and whenever I saw 90's episodes they clearly weren't up to par in quality. The first MSW movie in '97 flopped in ratings against the X-Files season premiere although CBS did still air additional MSW movies. By that point in time I think CBS' biggest shows were what, Touched by An Angel and Walker Texas Ranger? CBS definitely went threw some growing pains in the 90's. The early '90s bounced back with Murphy Brown, Evening Shade, Northern Exposure and to some extent Picket Fences but as the Tisch years waned on the network really faltered, especially when their biggest night was Saturday nights lol. ABC faltered badly during the Jamie Tarses years that by 2000 both networks were fighting not to fall into fourth place.
  13. When exactly did Fischer stop producing the show? I fondly remember it being a Sunday night staple in our household in the late 80's. Then came a slew of episodes of Jessica presenting us with other detective stories and well next thing you know we were watching Fox on Sunday nights instead lol. I think the last actual live run MSW episode I watched was Jessica getting kidnapped by Cuban & Russian smugglers at a book fair in Miami it seemed all seemed so cheesy and comical I flipped over to Lois & Clark instead.
  14. LOL. Here's what the write-up says: WHY WE HATED IT: True blue Roman, the most honest, good-hearted cop in Salem, a serial killer? Enough said. It was the first of many (and we mean many) evil DiMera plots designed to bring down the Brady clan. The real killer was Andre, Tony's look-alike cousin who donned a "Roman" mask every time he went in for the kill. Roman faked his death (but clued in Marlena) to nab the fiend. The story went from dumb to utterly ridiculous with Andre assuming Tony's identity. It ended when Andre drowned in quicksand on one of the DiMeras' many hideaway islands. Adding insult to injury, Roman "died" there from a gunshot wound as well. Here is also the write-up for the Death of Phillip III on Y&R: WHY WE HATED IT: Though the story was well told, and the subject matter was (and remains) topical), Phillip was a popular, pivotal character from a key (but small) family; his death left a significant void. Phillip had always been a pawn in Jill and Kay's feud, and despite duking it out over his guardianship, they were united in their love for the shy, sensitive heir, so that dynamic was lost. We'd also like to point out that Phillip's deathbed scene was played out not with his moms or his wife, but with former girlfriend Cricket. Katherine had to run her company solo. It would have been exciting to watch her brining her protégé along --- to Jill's chargin. And, of course, Phillip would have thrown a monkey wrench into Kay and Jill's battle over the Chancellor estate. As for Nina, well, she's moved on from one failed relationship to another. But right now, no one misses Phillip III more than Phillip IV, who hasn't been able to cope since stepdad Ryan left home.
  15. Believe it or not there biggest complaint was about the whole Roman/Andre/Tony face mask stuff as whoever wrote the article said the story became ridiculous. 🤣
  16. From January 1999, these where SOD’s choices for what they called most cringe-worthy and biggest story mistakes for each soap on the air at the time. Let me know if anyone wants specific write-ups! GH: Sword of Malkuth mystery, 1982 Y&R: Death of Phillip III, 1989 Days: The Salem Slasher, 1983 GL: The death of Maureen, 1993 AMC: Erica kidnaps Maddie, 1997 B&B: Enter Karen Spencer, 1992 AW: Bobby Reno/Shane Roberts story, 1996-1998 ATWT: The downfall of Steve Andropoulos, 1986-87 Beach: The pairing of Casey & Rae, 1997 OLTL: Larry vs. Ivan, 1982 PC: Serena is blinded, 1998
  17. The AW freeze frames were pretty iconic and unique for the show as they even did them at the end of the closing credits I remember being vaguely disappointed when the show stopped doing them that final year or so. Definitely the Y&R fade to black with dramatic cues are the best for me. I loved in the early-mid 00’s when it faded to black with the EP and Senior Producer credits listed. GL tried the same thing during the dreadful Conboy era but it wasn’t as classy lol. The worst? Those really horrible cheesy freeze frames with special effects Days did in the ‘00’s. Just absurdly laughable.
  18. Same with Albuquerque, where Y&R has aired at 1PM for a good 25 years now. I find it odd/interesting CBS is airing soccer(real football lol) games. Like CBSN, it doesn’t seem CBS doesn’t seem to be utilize its CBS Sports Network properly.
  19. As far as I can tell Y&R and B&B will impacted and preempted all over the Pacific Time Zone for those dates and times.
  20. Haha that strange conversation Stitch and Abby had about him around the time they divorced is forever burned into my memory but I guess that was one way to say Abby would be overwhelmed with the demon kid’s care lol. I think Kelly would have fared a lot better had Watros stayed in the role but I am quite sure Pratt would have had her still go crazy.
  21. Consumed by guilt he didn’t protect Abby and guilt his son regressed to a toddler state and is incontinent(seriously). I guess he was more alike his mother and sister than we thought.
  22. Alien Gemini twins lol. For me the highlight of that story was John, Marlena, Bo and Hope all quick to deny the paranormal does not exit and dismiss it all as crazy talk initially. 🤣🤣 The meteor shower story was weird. Didn’t a meteor hit Billie’s car while she was wearing a big blonde wig?
  23. The only plausible theory I’ve seen so far is Stitch resurfaces and reveal it was his sperm because he wanted to make up for the baby he and Abby lost and that’s why he was so adamant about “protecting” it. Gawd. This whole terrible story has been eating the show alive and spitting it back out for a year now, this custody story is already overkill. This spumor reeks of desperation.
  24. Talk about a tone deaf tweet🤣🤣🤣 Anyways
  25. It seems to me that either lunchtime-ish (11:00-2:00) soaps and/or the 3PM soaps were the best time slots overall. Soaps like Days, SFT, AMC, LOL and Ryan’s Hope thrived in those slots for years. No doubt Y&R and B&B got the best slot I am surprised ABC try the same with AMC and Loving. I think soaps could have succeeded better in the later spots ie 330 to 5 but individual affiliates got more bang for their buck on children’s programming and syndicated fare in those later afternoon time slots. The 2PM ET hour always felt the weakest with ATWT becoming a middle of the pack soap by the mid 90’s while OLTL and AW sunk to the lower half. I complied a list of TV stations wayyyy back in 2006 airing soaps at odd times(some of them very odd) and also all the CBS soaps airing GL in the morning, here ya go:
