It seems to me that either lunchtime-ish (11:00-2:00) soaps and/or the 3PM soaps were the best time slots overall. Soaps like Days, SFT, AMC, LOL and Ryan’s Hope thrived in those slots for years. No doubt Y&R and B&B got the best slot I am surprised ABC try the same with AMC and Loving. I think soaps could have succeeded better in the later spots ie 330 to 5 but individual affiliates got more bang for their buck on children’s programming and syndicated fare in those later afternoon time slots. The 2PM ET hour always felt the weakest with ATWT becoming a middle of the pack soap by the mid 90’s while OLTL and AW sunk to the lower half. I complied a list of TV stations wayyyy back in 2006 airing soaps at odd times(some of them very odd) and also all the CBS soaps airing GL in the morning, here ya go:

LMAO can’t believe it took five years for the show to finally reveal what was in TC’s shed, although it was a letdown. I recall around 2004-05 the show felt like it was trying to become Sunset Beach 2.0 and had that ridiculous (but entertaining) poisoned guacamole story, but the excess amount of rape and violence killed any entertainment value the show had.

Why do I fear that Sharon is going to be headed back to crazy town over this?

Nikki and Brad were okay the initial affair like their later 1999 affair worked but they also didn’t strike me as long term couple to begin with. If anything it at least finally got Nikki out of the ranch all the time and added some new tensions to the dynamics of Newman like paving the way to let Neil become Victor’s right hand man instead of Brad when Brad was passed over for a promotion. Oddly they didn’t address Nikki’s age during her relationship to Brad but they did when she married Joshua.

Thanks @YRfan23!!!! Yikes at how tiny the cast is and I think that’s why so much gets dragged wayyy out. There’s a better balance in some aspects especially with Carter & Paris being ahead of Steffy and Liam but I think Finn only having one episode in January is pretty bad and downright neglectful.

The sad thing is the drama would have been juicier and the stakes higher if Steffy found out from Douglas first and then a conflicted Steffy was the one who helped Brooke hide the truth because she sympathizes with Brooke while Hope is the one who finds it repulsive. Or Brooke actually opening up together in therapy with Taylor and the two joining up together secretly to prove Brooke may have been setup while Taylor realizes she is over Ridge. Sheila’s next story? Finn sees Sheila visiting a mysterious teenage girl. After catching multiple visits, Finn finally barges in and learns the girl is his niece Lucy Romalotti. Lucy wants to her Grandma Sheila back to her hometown of Genoa City. Finn encourages a reluctant Sheila to go. When Sheila arrives, she finds out Kevin & Chloe have thrown her a homecoming party at Society! Sheila learns directly from Lauren herself that all of GC has heard she is trying reform and they are willing to give her a chance to start over. Ashland & Adam jointly offer Sheila a job at Newman-Locke while Sharon agrees to be Sheila’s therapist. Phyllis also asks Sheila to help out at the Grand Phoenix since Sheila comes with excellent hosting references from LA. Trouble brews one day when Lucy seems to be obsessing over Moses to steal him away from Faith, but Grandma Sheila and Grandma Phyllis save the day by telling Lucy that obsessing over a guy is unhealthy and to stealing a man is bad karma. Lucy agrees and understands. Phyllis, Sheila and Lucy all hug over cheesecake at Crimson Lights. 🤢

And a lightbulb goes off in Thudley’s head 😵‍💫😵‍💫 I was wondering how JMW would leave out before her maternity leave this time lol. I figured something happens between Steffy and Finn but I was thinking of Finn sleeping with Taylor in response to Steffy’s behavior. That way Brooke could be “see Taylor slept with her daughter’s husband too!!” 🙈

As far as primetime episodes I do recall in addition to GH’s 1996 episode they also did a 35th anniversary primetime special in ‘98 as well. @will81 Yes the 95 episode was where Brad bared all lol.

Pretty glad Sally had the last laugh in the faces of Lauren, Chelsea, and Chloe. Ashland’s story would be more interesting if he had like two additional kids from some previous marriage in on his suspected schemes. The rest of this week though…..

@kalbirThanks I was thinking that there was possibly one more but I don’t recall for sure that may be it then. I do recall there was talk of Y&R doing a primetime episode around the 30th anniversary however I remember David Shaughnessy telling SOD the nixed the idea citing costs and they didn’t think it would have good ratings nor help the daytime ratings.

Y&R did primetime episodes in 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1998. I think there was maybe one or two more as well I can’t recall all of them.

I actually enjoyed the confrontation between Carter and Grace and they fact Grace saw Carter and Paris kissing. I think it be a lot more meaningful had the show recast Zoe to explore the sister animosity some more, although Zoe causing Paris to crap herself was silly…

Surprisingly the show has actually been pretty balanced for a nice change, well except where the heck is Finn? Yeah Thomas and Steffy sound like 14 year old kids from a bad holiday movie. Steffy sounds like a massive hypocrite when judging Brooke given Steffy’s own recent cheating on both Finn and Liam during moments of weakness.

Like Liz Foster I can’t see Mary favoring one child over the other…Paul was the oldest right? I could see him currying extra favor with her more, but had Steve & Patty lasted into the 80’s and 90’s I could see Mary equally barging into their private lives as much as she did Paul’s….with Todd being a priest she may have felt satisfied enough lol. On ATWT didn’t Nancy prefer younger son Bob over Don back in the 60’s? I know Nancy also preferred her dead daughter over Penny as well. Primetime wise it was pretty clear Ellie’s favorite son was Gary on Dallas.

The bad thing is after seeing Lindsay’s work on other soaps she would’ve been miles ahead of anything Heinle’s done.

Ya I remember the rumor that Galen Gering had auditioned and was being considered for the role of Nick after Morrow walked. I just can’t imagine Gering around Stafford or just as Nick at all lol. Gering might have been okay around Case but such a silly casting idea overall.

Josh Morrow walked/quit in the middle of intense contract negotiations, so the show had Nick be presumed dead when the Newman private jet crashed. Victor discovered the plane had been sabotaged and also discovered that Victor Jr./Adam was in some trouble in the Far East so went to investigate the crash and bail Adam out of trouble. Backstage, Morrow and TPTB finally came to terms and Morrow was back. Nick was found by some reclusive lady and nursed back to health in her cabin while having his memories of the last two years wiped out. Victor returned and the sabotage plot was dropped, with Adam just very briefly thanking Victor for help mentioning the Far East trouble when he finally appeared on screen the following winter when summoning Victor to Hope’s deathbed. As for Daniel’s porn addiction lol it was something I FF’d a lot through on the DVR. Only thing I remember them showing was Daniel staring at his desktop with his jar dropped. Graz always had a funny look on his face lol when watching, similar to the below examples from that same time period:

The other thing that bothers me is what if any long term storyline effects we will see on the show because Abby dies. Jack and Jennifer mourn for a week and then just simply move on? Gwen becomes even more haunted? Gabi develops a split personality named Abby? Chad and Will finally hit the sheets in the moment of their deepest despair?

Finally caught up. So let me get this straight, Victoria is using Victor’s own money from Newman, to buy his own company, Newman Media. 😂. We went through an entire plot line only to see Billy & Lily in the same office with the same dialogue, just working for a different company. Brought back Noah, only to have no real storyline for him besides being a creep and as I mentioned earlier be ridiculously be head over heels for Tessa. Sharon and Rey in the most boring-no chemistry marriage ever known to daytime television. And oh god, please don’t even get me started with this Dominic storyline! Jesus help us all during February sleeps I can’t take much more.

Happy they're adding Dex but not entirely in love with the actor choice. We’ll see how it plays out on screen.

LOL it doesn’t help either that Days tapes so far in advance. I’d rather someone just go ahead and leak all to spare us the misery of watching some bad material six months from now on.
