Those finicky folks also really hated Victor at the time. It would also not surprise me if one those online pioneer posters in the Prodigy was also the one who submitted the nasty letter to SOD about how Jill grabbing a paralyzed David’s private parts in an attempt to prove he was faking was very very obscene and ruined their lunchtime appetite.

Sorry I didn’t see this but the main thing about Phyllis during that time period was not only her paranoia and also spinning her great web of lies and deception as foundation. Phyllis pulled her own intriguing supporting cast with her lover Peter Garrett to make Danny jealous while Dr. Tim Reid and Sasha participated in her nefarious schemes to make everything look good. There came a point where Phyllis realized Christine’s heart was really with Paul’s but knew Danny wanted to steal Christine back…maybe Phyllis should have included Mary Williams in on her schemes?

They quite possibly would have had it been brought to fruition. There was actually some considerable backlash the show got for showing Victor and Jill sleeping with each other because people thought it was gross and very un Jill like I wonder if that’s why they squashed it. A long term Victor and Jill pairing would have been pretty tumultuous especially if Billy had turned out to be Victor’s seed instead and would have required a complete equal playing field…the only possible comparisons I can think of for a potential Victor & Jill power marriage would have been either Lucinda & John on ATWT or Stefano & Kate on Days. My guess is the marriage would have ended with either Victor & Nikki and/or Ashley having an affair while Jill got it on with either Ryan, Cole, or yes Nick lol.

You know I thought about B&B recasting Thorne again, this time going with a familiar yet lesser known actor like they did with KA as Taylor instead some name star with baggage like Ingo. I don’t know where Thorne would fit in but since the show feels like it is phasing out the Spencers minus Liam at the moment I see a pathway for Thorne to return. As for Y&R I also thought about possible cast cuts but the show feels so bare bones it doesn’t solve any of Y&R’s real issues at all. I am not sure how TIIC dropped the ball in negotiations with Mealor and King last summer while in the middle of a story and had to do very quick sloppy rewrites for a sudden exit for the pair but Morina & Griffith are long overdue to be fired for gross incompetence. Of course if the “one star who has previously received walking papers” turns out to be Michelle Stafford I think that would be perfectly acceptable. Phyllis has become a dead end character ever since she came back and is completely irrelevant. Same goes with MCE as Chelsea.

I initially didn’t have an opinion of Edson as Stacey until the writing turned Stacey into a sanctimonious blackmailing hypocrite and Edson’s low energy made it even worse especially when she was paired with Kale Browne. Michael and Stacey were unlikeable and unwatchable. As for GL she was thrown into the black hole that was the Mindy/Nick/Eve triangle with low energy Edson again playing an unlikeable unwatchable character. Things improved somewhat when she was later paired with Ed but by that point the writing was on the wall.

It's so strange Shirley as it turned out was married to wealthy industrialist Gene Desmond (played by the late Christopher Allport) who hired Michael to be the Desmond Industries lawyer, which Michael even trying to get Christine to join him at Desmond to Paul's chagrin and we where promised an introduction to the extended Desmond family along with a possible Patty reintroduction but by the summer of 2000 the entire story was completely dropped altogether.

I know Mary Ellis Bunim gets a bad rep at SFT for trying to make the show more than Jo and Eunice show but she did really modernize the show and yes the ratings went up enough to the point it quickly killed NBC’s Lovers & Friends, kept Ryan’s Hope at bay and during the Corrington years even rumored to expand to one hour. Perhaps if Bunim had more of stable head writer during those years it would have been better and at least there would be a strong middle person for whenever Bunim and Stuart clashed. Love of Life had success when Labine was writing followed by DePriest, but then after DePriest left somehow the show absurdly hired Jean Holloway, who once created the soaps The Egg and I and First Hundred Years almost 30 years earlier. Holloway’s 1979 tenure I’ve read had simplistic soap stories not seen since the early 50’s or the days of radio soaps. Yikes. It nailed the coffin shut. ATWT definitely stagnated in the late 70’s and it definitely shows from the synopsis I have read. Lisa’s son Chuckie is killed, Lisa barely grieves and tries to get back with Bob briefly? Yikes.

When did Maggie’s pointless retcon daughter die lol? I barely remember Summer coming and going just a blip on the radar. EJ’s trial definitely needs Sami it is so lacking.
