  1. Oh yes her tenure was the height started off with the height of Roman(John) & Marlena, Bo & Hope, and Shane & Kimberly. She also wrote a lot for Patch & Kayla and later Roman/John and Diana but there was a lot of dreck involved with the periphery characters i.e. Alex Marshall's downfall, Doug's return, Bill/Janice/Mike triangle and didn't Pete and Melissa end their marriage on a very out of character note? Thanks @AbcNbc247 for Griffith's credits btw. I think a lot of those soap fans back in the day were still stuck on his Emmy winning work with OLTL from the early 90s. I never watched it aside from a couple eps with Ryan Phillipe's character coming out but I do recall a lot of soap fans hold that era in very high regard. 🤢🤢🤢 I would have the sad deaths to include Jim Lemay's death on Christmas as well, that felt totally unnecessary . The way Patti D'Arbanville's character left the show was pretty disgusting as well.
  2. I forgot about Labine I remember being pumped up at her coming to GL and how that ended in absolute catastrophe. I don’t know how much of that was Rauch & MADD’s fault but it really looked bad compared to newbie Hogan Sheffer’s ATWT at the time and the soap press were more than happy to point that out. I think her late 80’s run at Days was considered well received at least early on but by 1989 the show was falling apart.
  3. The March discussion thread for Y&R reminded me that 15-20 years ago I always remembered Josh Griffith always getting praised as a writer yet here in 2021 he is the absolute worst, this already following a very disastrous run at Days back in 2015-16 and a previous just okay run at Y&R back in 2012-13. The other examples I was thinking of off the top of my head include Richard Culliton, who’s good and bad work cancel each other out. His 1995 ATWT run was great; 1998 at AW was a disaster. Same with Stephen Demorest, his work at GL was fantastic but ATWT was a mess. I have to include Trent Jones on this as well for uneven writing depending on the show. I feel like both Pam Long and Thom Racina deserve mentions as well.
  4. Looking back I think Bill Sr could’ve easily been the Victor of the show but he was never given a stronger character to be paired with. Maybe if Donna had been stronger I could’ve seen that play out.
  5. Thanks as always @YRfan23!!! I had watched the 2/14/94 episode first up and to my delight it’s the episode where Ashley received the painting from Mari Jo. I also recall that Colleen birthday party clear as day 27 years later; I always felt the show did criminally underuse Greg Wrangler as Steve at the time. I was eventually disappointed by Brad & Lauren’s breakup but here I still see them as a very viable couple, powerful interlopers if you will. And it reminds me of what a waste B&B in time eventually did to Lauren, we still see Scotty here yet never did on B&B. Still utilizing Douglas was a fun and good thing, but who was Marvin Oakley? I thought Cole’s father was eventually proven to be the notorious Rick Daros.
  6. Whoever mentioned Phyllis is being used as comic relief is absolutely correct. Those Phyllis/Lauren scenes talking about Sally’s search results on the Abbotts felt like something off an old ABC TGIF sitcom or a Nickelodeon show. The one shoulder dresses being used on Phyllis & Lauren are silly as well.
  7. Wyatt has been married to both Hope and Steffy but the show doesn’t even acknowledge that ever happened anymore. Same thing happened to Thomas and Sally, nothing. Ugh.
  8. Oh lord that was Kimberly’s DID story that went off the rails right? Then he was wasted with the recast Ariana Chase. I had completely blocked that out lol.
  9. I always wished the show had added a couple more Hughes characters via John and Marian Hughes. Always been fascinated what the story was with them but there is such little info! I think someone here early mentioned Edie would also returned for a couple holidays in addition to the 1963 return.
  10. I found it odd the show didn’t pick up where it left off with Friday’s Sami episode. This is as bad as Y&R not following up on the cliffhangers.
  11. Not a bad choice to cast but I hope they don’t squander Burgi’s potential and talent. I loved him on Desperate Housewives and he’s aged very well since his One West Waikiki days(as well as his AW days). But I’m not going to get my hopes up.
  12. Where is the Z- grades for Y&R and B&B? 🤣
  13. Agree with everything you said. Flo and Wyatt haven’t been given anything to do at all since the show returned aside from that Shauna/Quinn hissy fit and the dumb Y&R crossover. I almost felt that Thudley forgot that the pair even existed and they were on the way out lol. But yeah I am still hoping that Finn knocks out Liam just like Devon did with Nate lol. That would be fun for Ashley & Traci to mix it up with Sally. Unfortunately that would take a miracle for JG’s writing to occur. BTW that Sharon spoiler is disgusting.
  14. From SoapDirt, first up is Y&R: Below is B&B:
  15. Does anyone remember this storyline? I know 1987-89 is messy: Played by Camilla More (Gillian, and later Grace, left) and Carey More (Grace, right) - Real life twin sisters. Gillian had Grace come to town New Years Eve, 1986 to pretend to be Gillian, while Gillian killed Emma Marshall. Gillian framed Kim for the murder, so she could have Shane. Gillian was caught when Shane noticed she was acting quite strange. On a trip to London, Shane found Grace and brought her to Salem to help him catch Gillian. Once Gillian was taken to jail, Camilla More began to play the role of Grace, and Carey More left Days. Grace was later killed by the Riverfront Knifer.
  16. Days. I enjoyed the show for almost twenty years even through the hell of Langan, Reilly 2.0, and “Touch the skies” but it was the 2011 reboot that killed my interest in Days overall. I think it was EJ and Sami having sex while mourning their briefly presumed dead son for the sake of shock value and what not along with the other ridiculous stories that reboot brought. I tuned again in 2014 for Sami’s exit but nothing else interested me on the show. Watched in 2015 for the 50th anniversary and up through Stefano’s death but then deaths of Will & Bo left me feeling cold. The final straw for me was Chase raping Ciara when I felt Chase had so much potential. The Aiden stuff was whack. I started watching Days again last July when I heard Sorel was back as Vivian as was Sami coming to crash Nicole’s wedding. The show hasn’t been too bad, favorite story by far has been the Gwen story but that recently ended with the death of Laura Horton and now Cady is gone as Jennifer. And Ben Weston is an albatross to the show.
  17. Never got too much into the main ABC soaps of AMC, OLTL, and GH. I really appreciate the shows and have read about them and watched various clips out of interest however when I tried to get into them they came off as just so romcom/dramedy to me. I think I enjoyed Loving the most when I watched it at the time the most probably because of the 30 minute timeslot. Didn’t bother with PC(not to mention it always aired late at night where I lived). I watched Ryan’s Hope on SoapNet the early years were amazing but I felt the show lost steam as it went on. I would have stuck with just the CBS soaps really had it not been for Days. Days, at least in the 90s and 00’s always felt like me a P&G soap from another planet. 😁 As for AW when I first watched it seemed like a fun little show as the main story at the time was Cristy Carson having a body count but I never grew any real affection for it until after cancellation.
  18. That’s totally random. I remember it being one of JER’s stupid stuff plots at the time, didn’t it start in the show’s 10,000th episode? Kudos to both Sweeney and Wells for pulling it off to actually be entertaining without it becoming a Passions-reject story. Not sure what Wells has been up to lately. Last I remember him he was in one of those Fox/MyNet telenovelas playing some super spy bodyguard going against villains played by Casper Van Dien and Amanda from Dynasty. It was mess of a show lol.
  19. A tribute to Michael Morrison as 2/18 marked the 28th anniversary of his death: https://soaps.sheknows.com/soaps/news/591645/as-the-world-turns-michael-david-morrison-death-anniversary-tribute/
  20. It’s funny back during 2007-2010 I just didn’t care for Bryton or the character of Devon at all but grew to love and appreciate him since then. I blame all of it on idiotic writing. Rey has been basically a Dylan replacement this whole time. With the news about Sasha Calle and the fact both Calle & Vilasuso’s contracts are up this year means it’s the end of the Rosales clan. We’ll probably end up with Dylan returning again as soon as Rey leaves to cause conflict for Adam & Sharon.
  21. LOL @YRfan23 The dancing sure is cheesy with Josh & Nikki randomly slow dancing in the middle, but most awkward is Jack & Ashley showing up to the Newman pool party. I guess it so there could be additional tension with Jack having to see Victor with Diane lol.
  22. It’s under clips for the 7/7/97 episode labeled pool party.
  23. Wow, speaking of 1997 I was combing the vault to see what was new and lo and behold clips of Sarah Aldrich as Victoria have finally surfaced! I haven’t seen anything of her well, since 1997 lol and that brief glimpse we saw last summer when Malcolm & Olivia’s wedding aired. She comes off as a bit of a ditz and was very wooden for the most part during her appearance at the pool party but at least her death stare to Diane was funny.
  24. LOL!!! We finally saw the rest of the cast today including annoying Zoe. Ugh. B&B really has a skeleton cast at the moment and it’s weird there is no B story at all. Actually today’s ep was a little weird as Y&R’s ep today in the US had Bill in Genoa City already while on B&B Bill was announcing to Wyatt & Flo he was going to GC...I’m wondering if B&B is still a day or two behind following the Impeachment trial. Oddly Kelly Kruger made a random appearance as the publicist lady again, I’d rather have her back on Y&R as Mac would be better than some current Y&R ladies at the moment. Vinny is motivated by love of Thomas of course! 😉Shades of Reese Buckingham all over again who partly switched babies because of Brooke’s behavior towards Taylor, but we did not get Wayne Brady & Tylo back to deal with that aspect of the fallout at all.
  25. Once again the Devon/Elena/Nate/Amanda quad moves too fast to even provide suspense or buildup of tension. Like Elena and Nate being revealed too fast now we have Elena and Devon revealed too fast. Being it Feb sweeps and all is when Devon & Amanda really should have found out that Nate & Elena had been having a steamy secret affair since October but like we said at the beginning it seems to be February “sleeps” instead. The sad thing is it’s still the best storyline on the show at the moment.
