  1. I think you summed it it very well! On paper I think Keith Dennison could’ve worked quite well but the actor playing him was so not dynamic at all. Maybe someone like Tristan Rogers should have been cast as Keith instead of that really crappy P.I. role he had on B&B at the time. It reminded me of what went wrong with Blade, possibly intriguing character but wrong actor for the role. I too loved Tony and Megan and it seemed for a minute they were going to be Y&R’s next big couple but they were quickly sidelined with the rise of the Glo by Jabot kids. Some people blamed the recast but I think it was lazy on the show’s half if they couldn’t come up with early 20’s angst.
  2. Thanks @kalbir I have the 2/21/97 ep here and both Heather Tom and Josie Davis are in that episode. The rapid succession of recasts was pretty jarring at the time. I remember always seeing the fire at Sasha’s as being the turning point when the show got things moving again after almost a year of stagnation since Nathan’s death.
  3. The funny thing was it did create up a bit of a stir on the Internet at the time from what I remember amongst older fans, even so far as to creating a Mandela effect for some older viewers as a few were quite sure that they *did* remember the Carl disappearance storyline. With Y&R not being one to do retcons at that point or definitely felt out of place, and the story wasn’t that great. I’ll always remember Leslie Bevis for her hilarious Star Trek parody character in the movie Spaceballs more than anything else.
  4. April 1997 with a week full of the eps is up in the Vault, boy with the 4/11/97 it certainly is attack of recasts with Sarah Aldrich, Sandra Nelson, and Sherri Shattuck all being heavily featured in the episode. Of the three Nelson is by far and beyond the best of course; Sarah Aldrich is dreadful in her scenes with Ryan, while Ashley is the stuck in the depths of hell with a triangle between her, Kurt, and Hope developing. Hopefully the rest of the week gets better lol.
  5. Excited to see Sherri too!! Re: D’Arbanville drama. I was glad Selena’s lost Santos spawn never popped up(as the show did another Santos member at that time). I thought I had something on the Bite Me mess but this was the closest I had from 10/30/2000 SoapNews:
  6. LOL I remember my mom saying AMC was her favorite soap to watch until her favorite character was killed off in jet ski explosion. I remember her occasionally tuning to see what was going on in the early 90’s but she never followed it, out VCR was always set for the CBS soaps.
  7. Looking back I think Bill Sr could’ve easily been the Victor of the show but he was never given a stronger character to be paired with. Maybe if Donna had been stronger I could’ve seen that play out.
  8. Thanks as always @YRfan23!!! I had watched the 2/14/94 episode first up and to my delight it’s the episode where Ashley received the painting from Mari Jo. I also recall that Colleen birthday party clear as day 27 years later; I always felt the show did criminally underuse Greg Wrangler as Steve at the time. I was eventually disappointed by Brad & Lauren’s breakup but here I still see them as a very viable couple, powerful interlopers if you will. And it reminds me of what a waste B&B in time eventually did to Lauren, we still see Scotty here yet never did on B&B. Still utilizing Douglas was a fun and good thing, but who was Marvin Oakley? I thought Cole’s father was eventually proven to be the notorious Rick Daros.
  9. Oh lord that was Kimberly’s DID story that went off the rails right? Then he was wasted with the recast Ariana Chase. I had completely blocked that out lol.
  10. I always wished the show had added a couple more Hughes characters via John and Marian Hughes. Always been fascinated what the story was with them but there is such little info! I think someone here early mentioned Edie would also returned for a couple holidays in addition to the 1963 return.
  11. Not a bad choice to cast but I hope they don’t squander Burgi’s potential and talent. I loved him on Desperate Housewives and he’s aged very well since his One West Waikiki days(as well as his AW days). But I’m not going to get my hopes up.
  12. Does anyone remember this storyline? I know 1987-89 is messy: Played by Camilla More (Gillian, and later Grace, left) and Carey More (Grace, right) - Real life twin sisters. Gillian had Grace come to town New Years Eve, 1986 to pretend to be Gillian, while Gillian killed Emma Marshall. Gillian framed Kim for the murder, so she could have Shane. Gillian was caught when Shane noticed she was acting quite strange. On a trip to London, Shane found Grace and brought her to Salem to help him catch Gillian. Once Gillian was taken to jail, Camilla More began to play the role of Grace, and Carey More left Days. Grace was later killed by the Riverfront Knifer.
  13. Never got too much into the main ABC soaps of AMC, OLTL, and GH. I really appreciate the shows and have read about them and watched various clips out of interest however when I tried to get into them they came off as just so romcom/dramedy to me. I think I enjoyed Loving the most when I watched it at the time the most probably because of the 30 minute timeslot. Didn’t bother with PC(not to mention it always aired late at night where I lived). I watched Ryan’s Hope on SoapNet the early years were amazing but I felt the show lost steam as it went on. I would have stuck with just the CBS soaps really had it not been for Days. Days, at least in the 90s and 00’s always felt like me a P&G soap from another planet. 😁 As for AW when I first watched it seemed like a fun little show as the main story at the time was Cristy Carson having a body count but I never grew any real affection for it until after cancellation.
  14. A tribute to Michael Morrison as 2/18 marked the 28th anniversary of his death: https://soaps.sheknows.com/soaps/news/591645/as-the-world-turns-michael-david-morrison-death-anniversary-tribute/
  15. LOL @YRfan23 The dancing sure is cheesy with Josh & Nikki randomly slow dancing in the middle, but most awkward is Jack & Ashley showing up to the Newman pool party. I guess it so there could be additional tension with Jack having to see Victor with Diane lol.
  16. It’s under clips for the 7/7/97 episode labeled pool party.
  17. Wow, speaking of 1997 I was combing the vault to see what was new and lo and behold clips of Sarah Aldrich as Victoria have finally surfaced! I haven’t seen anything of her well, since 1997 lol and that brief glimpse we saw last summer when Malcolm & Olivia’s wedding aired. She comes off as a bit of a ditz and was very wooden for the most part during her appearance at the pool party but at least her death stare to Diane was funny.
  18. LOL I was reading that and almost spit out my tea I'm sipping on when I saw that about Elaine and Paula. I am wondering what that means as well about the "acting" part as I liked Elaine and Paula and both Laura Harring and Leigh Taylor-Young are both competent successful actresses so I wonder what the exact issue was unless they just completely ran out of story for the two that fast. Especially since I felt Elaine was so vital to the Sunset Beach canvas it was odd not to even bring her back with AJ came to town, that would have been interesting. 1. That Ricardo vs. Antonio story sounds like total overkill even for Beach. Sure a massive fight between the two but for Ricardo to become evil and try to murder Antonio? Glad it never played out. 2. Lisa Guerrero returning? Would have been a complete disaster as if her first go around wasn't bad enough. 3. I agree, having no story projections or thought method is pretty bad storytelling for soaps which is I think Beach suffered a lot during its final year. Unless DePriest & Whitesell had finally run out of soap clichés and recycled ideas to use lol. I suppose Meg Bennett is also responsible, disappointing for someone who was once a Bell protégé if she didn't plan out storylines either. 4. There was too much Meg. I would have to say Annie was the most interesting leading female character on the show as well. 5. Didn't anyone actually like(or watch) the Amy/Sean/Emily/Brad stuff at all? I barely remember any of it aside from them just hanging out at the beach and getting into surf competitions, it was all FF material to me. 6. Tomlin must have been off his rocker when it came to diminishing Kathleen Noone at the time. They ended up having to work together on Passions when Tomlin served as Director. Which reminds me Tomlin also had to work with Leigh Taylor-Young as well. 7. Just hilarious about Seidman's remarks about Y&R😄 If I recall right Seidman worked on GL & ATWT after Beach ended. She reunited with Tomlin & Whitesell for their 2008-11 Days run which probably explains her fond memories for writing there. Later she followed Josh Griffith around from Hollywood Heights, to Y&R, and Days again before Sussman brought her back. Her scripts were fair to mediocre at best, so I'm guessing she's talking about her Y&R exit when she left out after Sussman was dismissed and not when she first followed Griffith out.
  19. Killing Jennifer Munson off instead of recasting if Ferrin wanted to leave was the point I can pinpoint where I think was the beginning of the end for ATWT. All for Emmy bait, ratings, and a hoping in vain that Spencer Grammer as Lucy would work out(it did not). I'd say Jennifer's death is to ATWT what Frankie's death is to AW and Maureen's death was to GL. Just never recovered. BTW was watching a 1997 episode recently and Bob & Chris were complaining about how bad DeWitt Cereals tasted even though they ate it every morning or something. It was rather bizarre small talk but I found it odd whoever the dialogue writer for the ep went out of their way to mention DeWitt, this occurring during the Demorest/Walsh/Brez era.
  20. LOL! If there was ever a time to reintroduce the two that was the time in 1994. It would have definitely given Jill a lot more to do than an umpteenth divorce from John. Plus I could definitely see Chuckie being a JT type character and have a lustful affair with an older woman(Lauren? Mari Jo?) while Jennifer would have definitely been an Brittany Hodges-type character.
  21. It’s also a shame that in 1994 that Aunt Jill didn’t get shipped two hell raising teens in Chuckie and Jennifer because Snapper, Chris and Sally couldn’t handle them. 😁 I can only imagine Liz just casually dropping them off at the Abbott mansion to a shocked Jill lol.
  22. What happened to the Grant family was a tragic mess. If I recall right David’s return in 1998 came right after Charles had his heart attack to a faulty Spaulding produced + Santos mob funded pacemaker. For a brief moment there seemed to be momentum; David swearing revenge, Vicki Brandon revealing herself as a Spaulding, David finding Vivian getting comfort in Griffin’s arms(!) and arguing with Marcus, Vivian being a victim by the Nursery Rhyme Stalker and then absolutely nothing came out of it at all. Worse still is that Marcus & Dahlia lasted a lot longer into 1998 than I remember from what I have seen, still randomly popping up at parties and what not. Carl if you ever want a sad laugh with SoapCentral profiles on characters who got non exits you should read the end of Ellen Stewart’s profile on ATWT.
  23. Actually, we do know why he dropped Morgan’s return: Thudley got Hunter Tylo back! However I hated the show wasted Buxton’s talent like that, as I think that has been her last daytime appearance.
  24. Interesting that happened the same year as the mysterious psychic that called in the Cole/Victoria/Ryan/Nina quad as well as the Dina/John/Audrey North story that felt so rushed and dropped.
  25. LeMay gave that interview back in the late 90s shortly after his time as a story consultant in the mid-90’s for AW I’m going on have to dig up that one up, I believe it’s the same interview where he kind of trashed Robin Strasser while he was huffing & puffing.
