  1. That's fantastic! Who the hell is Derek Yates?
  2. What did Stephen Amell say about the strikes and the failure of "Suits L.A."? These days, with SOOOOOOOOO many viewing options out there, I think it's tough for many shows to gain traction with the public. Meanwhile, will "the Hoff" be part of this reboot at all?
  3. On second thought, Alex as Stephanie's stalker wasn't such a bad idea after all.
  4. James Marsters as Sebastian would've been WONDERFUL - not to mention, a real "get" for GL at a time when it needed one.
  5. Many of William Wyler's films are that way. Impeccably filmed, yet mannered to the point of lacking verve.
  6. Frankly, I'm surprised they're not floating the idea of off-loading the series to Peacock or some other streamer. And I say that as one who has never seen the show and has no intention to.
  7. Dude. You are taking TP way too seriously, lol.
  8. If anything, I would've aired a Christmas-themed episode that stood outside the ongoing stories, in case the regular viewers weren't tuning in.
  9. Oh, and look, here they are again, about :18 seconds in:
  10. The first face (and maybe voice?) in this commercial should be familiar to all you GH/Y&R fans out there:
  11. I'm sure I'm way off base this time, recasting-wise, but I've wondered whether Norman Lloyd, who worked with Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Welles, and who portrayed Dr. Daniel Auschlander on "St. Elsewhere," might've made for a better Edward recast than John Ingle.
  12. Here it is, folks. The inside scoop on Susan and Liza's bitter feud:
  13. I think the best way to differentiate AMC and OLTL would be like this: on AMC, Foxy's is a joint with trashy waitresses in skimpy outfits that's SO sleazy, it's in a different town (one which Pine Valley residents never trek to unless they're on the run, suffering from amnesia, or looking for someone who's on the run or suffering from amnesia). But, on OLTL, it's in the heart of Llanview, down the street from the hospital; and it's frequented even by the town's most well-respected citizens (more so than the town's most elegant restaurant) with nary an eye being blinked by anyone.
  14. That's EXACTLY who and what I was referring to before! On AW, the Cass/Felicia/Wallingford/Cecile/Lily Mason contingent is written and played mainly for laughs. On OLTL, however, Karen, Marco, and everyone else who frequented Ina Hopkins' boardinghouse are in emotional, front-burner storylines, even as we're being told that these characters, along with vets like Vinnie and Wanda, live on or near the fringes of Llanview society.
  15. Again, not something you'd get from other soaps during that era. Not even from "soul sister" AMC, with their plethora of almost Runyonesque oddballs in the '80's. In a way, SANTA BARBARA wanted to be what OLTL already had been practically since it began. It just didn't have Agnes Nixon and a supportive network to nurture it.
  16. Chase is the type who thinks being a cop keeps getting in the way of his pursuing his real passion: air hockey.
  17. And me? I want the damn thing bulldozed and turned into a Scooter's Coffee, lol.
  18. For me, the difference between David Lewis and John Ingle is the same difference between a distinguished character actor (which Lewis was) and a regular guest star on sitcoms (which Ingle was). Where one played subtly and to the camera, the other played broadly and to the studio audience. I realize Ingle was and is well loved by his colleagues - in the academic community as well as among his colleagues in the industry - but from day one, I thought he was a terrible recast for Edward. The fact that he is no longer with us, despite fighting a very valiant battle with cancer, does not change my opinion.
  19. Jonelle Allen: "I give props to Tony Morina for directing the hell out of that catfight!" Love ya, Jonelle, but oof, lol.
  20. Seriously, what IS it with this person and their obsession with all things Kimberly Beck? Are we gonna have to reach out to Ms. Beck's people and notify them of a potential situation?
  21. IMO, OLTL's best HW's (aside from Agnes Nixon) were Sam Hall, Peggy O'Shea and Gordon Russell. To me, they were like the Jules Furthman of daytime: if there were six ways to approach a storyline or scene, Hall/O'Shea/Russell always found the seventh way; and their way was always earthier, more surprising and more delightful to watch than anything else this side of EON. Moreover, the three had a knack for turning a single action, such as Karen Wolek's turn toward prostitution, into something that reverberated throughout the entire Llanview community; as well as an ability to turn eccentric or lowlife characters that either wouldn't have cropped up on other shows, or would've been relegated to recurring or "comic relief" status, into viable, empathetic leads. O'Shea's successor, S. Michael Schnessel, who had been with the show since the Joseph Stuart era, tried maintaining all that, along with the sideways approach to scriptwriting that prized originality over functionality, but the show had become so mired in Rauch-era excess by that point that the consistency got drowned out by all the bizarre and outlandish ideas.
  22. I agree. Michael Filerman, who had re-assumed control over the show after several seasons away, brought the show back down to earth, but he forgot to inject some life into it as well. Most of the storylines during that season were just big, fat who cares. I really don't blame the S9 team for jettisoning most of what S8 had set up, even if the stuff they came up with was only marginally more interesting, lol.
  23. I respectfully disagree. CL makes TGI Friday's look like Tavern on the Green.
  24. Better yet, Willow could kill Chase and then frame Michael, so she could win back custody of her kids.
  25. It's basically Hollywood attempting to reach Trump Nation.
