  1. Neither does Frank, lol.
  2. Well, there goes my bid to lure Ed Scott out of retirement, lol.
  3. DAYS ain't comin' back to NBC. An AMC (or OLTL) reboot might sound good, but I'd really love to see ABC (or any other network) develop more new soaps than to try and reboot defunct ones.
  4. I agree! At this point, I don't know who could assume the reins. I'd love to see Shelley Curtis given a try, since I think she (and Al Rabin) were responsible for a lot of what made DAYS so heartfelt in the '80's, but she's likely retired and unwilling to get back into the grind.
  5. Roscoe Born would've been all wrong as an Alan recast. He would've been much better suited playing Andy Norris. Lane Davies would've been a better choice, yet he just doesn't look the part, if you know what I mean. I, myself, would have cast someone like Edward Woodward, a.k.a. the OG Equalizer.
  6. Vivica says KSJ was her first acting partner, but that's not entirely true. Roll that beautiful bean footage!
  7. Unfortunately, Gordon Russell passed away in 1981, but Sam Hall would've been a good choice. (As I think I've said before, in the OLTL thread, I felt the two shows had a lot in common tonally). If money were no object (ha!), I might've tried luring Richard Levinson and William Link to daytime. Next to Slesar, those two were masters at "impossible crimes"; and on projects like "My Sweet Charlie," "The Execution of Private Slovik" and "That Certain Summer," they'd proven they could handle character-driven, non-crime-oriented stories as well.
  8. BITD, AMC had, like, 60 actors on contract, yet just about all of them had good stories to work with. So, yeah, I definitely agree with what you're saying here, @titan1978 .
  9. Aaron Spelling and Garry Marshall had one thing in common (besides making ABC a lot of money in the '70's and '80's): they both believed that television should provide an escape from viewers' everyday lives. People get enough realism from the evening news, they figured. Why not just give them a half-hour or hour to feel good instead? Which is fine, I guess, except that's not exactly a philosophy I've always agreed with. I think escapism has its' place, but I also think - especially these days, when it's so hard to discern real news from NOT real - that it's TV's duty to educate and inform as well.
  10. Yeah, kind of like those Harlequin romance movies CBS produced after they had lost their NFL rights to FOX. Empty viewing calories, but a pleasant way to kill a weekend afternoon nevertheless.
  11. They might call it "foreshadowing." I call it "[!@#$%^&*] with your audience." Not to mention delaying the inevitable.
  12. Donna: "Our dear, sweet, wonderful Joan is not feeling 100%." Translation: She's still healing from her latest, um, procedure? I heart Michele Lee all the way to the stars and back, but would she PLEASE get some dentures that FIT?
  13. Whenever John Dean would criticize the Trump administration on TwiX, I would just reply with, "*cough*Watergate*cough*."
  14. For some reason, that reminded me of Arsenio's line in "Coming to America": "His mama name him Clay, I'm-a call him Clay!" And yes, Brennan has always been lame; and Frank Valentini should be ashamed of himself for wasting such a nothing role on Chris McKenna, too.
  15. It's so weird to see Tom Hallick look so...suburban. Most of the time, when I see him in various reruns, he's always your typical dashing young or older man. Here, in this interview, he looks like your grandpa who's waiting for your grandma to finish up her shopping so they can grab a quick bite to eat at the mall food court and then head back home for a long snooze.
  16. I don't think I would've had an issue with Jaime Lyn Bauer playing the mother of several grown children, but given what I've seen of her work throughout the years, I think she would've been more cut out to play Beth Logan over Stephanie Forrester. KL's first season was creator/EP/show runner David Jacobs' attempt at emulating both the popular series "Family," where he had cut his teeth as a staff writer, and Ingmar Bergman's "Scenes from a Marriage." Unfortunately, I think Jacobs realized (if not right away, then definitely after the 2-3 seasons) that KL was neither of those and that he didn't have what it took to MAKE it that way. I'll go to my grave saying this: the Shapiros had set up DYNASTY beautifully in the first season, with the wealthy Carringtons contrasting the blue-collar Blaisdels, and Krystle caught in between the two, vastly different worlds. It's just Aaron Spelling's impatience with the ratings and the casting of the Blaisdel family members that doomed everything (and necessitated the introduction of Alexis and the shift toward the rich exclusively). And I agree with David Jacobs: shifting the focus of DALLAS from Bobby & Pam, or the Ewings vs. the Barneses, to J.R. might have made the show more successful, but I don't think that made it more interesting. (And I DEFINITELY agree with you about Lucy, lol).
  17. As @Vee would say: "Woof."
  18. It's hard to process...but not at all surprising, in retrospect. With progress, I've learned, comes pushback; and when this country had the audacity to elect a commander-in-chief who didn't look like them, White America was gonna push back. Meanwhile, have y'all heard about Candace Owens' new podcast series (?) on Erika Kirk? Apparently, Candace has gone so fringe that even the fringe can no longer control her, lol.
  19. That DOES sound like something I would've said, lol! It took me many, many, MANY years, but I hope I've matured SOME since those days.
  20. Here's my question: assuming Henry Slesar needed to be replaced as HW, who should P&G have tapped to replace him (instead of Lee Sheldon)? Should they have looked outside of daytime, or hired someone with actual soaps experience?
  21. Alexa always looks as if she can't believe the [!@#$%^&*] she's just heard.
  22. I love Dolly, but I really hope someone stops her before she takes on hip-hop.
  23. Michael and Kimberly trotted...so Drew and Willow could gallop. I still don't like how "Who Shot Drew?" turned into a Happy Fun Ball of nothing, with the victim still alive and the culprit still unrepentant, but maybe Willow will pay for her misdeeds eventually?
  24. What can I say that hasn't been said already, lol? It's easily one of the stupidest moments I've ever witnessed in all my years of TV watching. Pam had enough time either to pump the brakes or swerve the car away from that tanker. But what does she do? She takes her hands off the cotton-pickin' wheel to shield her face, as she ploughs right into it. Like I said, it's stupid, lol.
