  1. I agree. Even Bob Guza had a better grasp on developing characters than the current regime. And it's really not that hard to do, you know? Just ask yourself two questions: What does this character want? and What (or who) is standing in their way?
  2. Exactly. And you know something else we, the public, have gotten used to? Abortion. And look where THAT is today.
  3. I didn't say I would ABOLISH marriage, lol. I just don't see what all the fuss is about (for anyone, gay or straight). It goes against literally everything I've ever been taught, but I think people should just live together without needing to "make it legal." If you want to add your partner to your insurance or whatever, then you should be able to; and if you want to make sure they're taken care of in the event of your passing, then just make out an ironclad will.
  4. No, Genie and Maurice, soaps do not need to get back to couples. They need to get back to families - loving each other, protecting each other, getting in each other's way.
  5. In retrospect, ABC made a huge mistake in forcing the producers of "Twin Peaks" to end the "Who Killed Laura Palmer?" storyline so early. Anyone with common sense would've seen right away that TP had nothing else going for it.
  6. That was MY reaction to the clip before Lisa's, with Breck Jamison and Terri Vanderbosch giving some truly awful line readings.
  7. Yep, lol. The success of "Murder, She Wrote" and "60 Minutes" REALLY wallpapered over the network's sagging fortunes. Unfortunately, once "C.S.I." became this monster hit, CBS morphed into The All Procedurals Network, a creative morass it has yet to emerge from.
  8. What a terrible title for such a serious documentary. It makes it sound like a cheap Lifetime Original Movie.
  9. It's hard to picture Suzanne Rogers as any of the Brooks sisters, but that's because I think they were cast so perfectly.
  10. I agree.
  11. She literally looks as if she had just stepped in dog [!@#$%^&*].
  12. Next few years? I'll be shocked if gay marriage lasts past 2026, lol. The thing is, I, myself, would not advocate for marriage for anyone, because I think marriage itself has outlived its' usefulness as an institution. BITD, people married for one reason and one reason only, and it wasn't because they were in love, lol.
  13. So, the next time you ATWT fans say Christopher Goutman never made one good decision as EP....!
  14. At the time, I thought that, with a little bit more time and retooling, FC could've gone somewhere. But I think it's clear now that neither CBS nor David Jacobs was really into this show. Thanks, @DRW50, for posting these episodes!!
  15. I wouldn't have minded Stephen Schnetzer joining ATWT as a new character - maybe as a new love interest for Barbara - but trying to keep AW alive in some form on the other P&G soaps always felt a little cruel to me. Like, if you miss AW so badly, P&G, why didn't you do more to keep it from being cancelled?
  16. I agree. It made Greg look particularly childish and unattractive.
  17. God knows Dana Sparks is no Robin Wright, but casting her as returning Vickie Gioberti on FC made more sense at that point than simply bringing back Jamie Rose, because, FC itself was much more glamorous than it had been in the beginning. (Plus, I suspect someone like Sparks was cast, because she looked younger than Rose, which, in turn, made Susan Sullivan look younger.)
  18. Granted, the acting on "Three's Company" from everyone besides John Ritter and Don Knotts was never outstanding, but it really takes a special kind of awful to stand out in the wrong way on THAT show.
  19. Let's be honest: the GOP was going to kill the ACA, government shutdown or no government shutdown. I don't blame the Democrats for doing what they could to save it, but as I've said before, they're being naive if they think they can. The GOP is out to delegitimize Barack Obama's presidency and erase him from history; and it's our ignorant asses who gave them the tools to do it. Period.
  20. It's only a matter of time before Frank (and the writers, but mostly Frank) decides to excuse Drew's behavior away with a brain tumor or something.
  21. All I can say to those folks is, "Maybe next time, when we tell you that our democracy is on the line, and the GOP say what they mean and mean what they say, y'all should just shut the [!@#$%^&*] up about Bernie and AOC and vote."
  22. Here's my thinking: there hasn't been as much resistance this time around, either because 1) people are just plain burned out by it all, or 2) they've reasoned that resisting just doesn't work with Trump or the GOP, or 3) a combination thereof. I would agree that it all has to play itself out before we get it through our thick-ass skulls, but the truth is, even as I was standing in line for two hours earlier this week for a free pizza (on account of being a SNAP recipient), I knew in my heart that most of the folks standing in line with me would still vote for Trump again if given the chance.
  23. Unfortunately, no apparatus is in place to remind people of that fact loudly and often. Instead, we have a media that will literally Tootsie Roll themselves into the GOP's laps at every opportunity, forcing Democrats to do damage control or play catch-up even when they aren't the ones who need to do it.
  24. I get why they brought Nicollette Sheridan onto the show, but just imagine if Mack and Anne had had a son instead of a daughter. (Same might go for Greg and Jane).
