  1. Port Charles, Loving, Passions and Santa Barbara all began their first weeks with location shoots. I hope this show continues that tradition. It would be nice to get a sense of place initially.
  2. I could have lived with the initial plots on Passions, other than Timmy and the angel/hell in a closet stuff, most of them were fairly boilerplate. No, for me it was the dialogue. It was painfully repetitive and spoke down to it's audience. There was no depth or nuance, it was just "Here is thing one. Now thing two. And here is exactly how I feel about both of those things. You will never have to question my motives or intentions because I will tell you exactly what they are." People would often compare it to the writing for a children's show but Sesame Street never made me feel stupid.
  3. This is a good point and reminds me that the young leads of a new soap are more make or break than the older cast. Think Susan Lucci as Erica, Katherine Kelly Lang as Brooke, Gillian Spencer as Viki, or a reference that isn't 40 years old (lol), Lindsay Hartley as Theresa. Passions gets a lot of flack (rightfully so and most it from me) but she carried that show on her BACK for a decade. Even when the material was [!@#$%^&*], which was often, she never was. And she was brand new to acting AND the rigors of daytime. Hearing "first new soap opera in a quarter century" is wild. I remember excitedly following the news leading up to the premiere of Passions. That was a fun summer.
  4. If you want to live with your head in the sand because you’re just happy to have a new soap opera that’s your own issue. Not mine. Anyway, I’m not arguing this with anyone. Peace ✌️
  5. I don’t know, maybe you are. I’ve seen like one image of you a decade ago. My criticism is valid and I don’t know why you’re trying to shut it down because you lighten up in the winter but that’s on you. And it’s not just skin color, it’s phenotype as well. Let’s think critically here.
  6. I know what colors we come in, Errol. And I’ve watched all three of those actors on television for years, in what world are they not lightskinned? Lmao
  7. Tamara Tunie is a huge get and speaks to the promise of the show since ATWT did her dirty and she stays booked and busy yet she’s back on daytime. DD was a great Rachel and Karla Mosley has…also been on daytime. I kid, she was pretty good when B&B let her play evil. Of course they wasted it. The only thing that gives me pause is the casting of three light skinned actors…CBS in particular seems a fan of the paper bag test BUT they all have history in daytime and are playing family so I’ll let them cook. Also love the new title and logo treatment. Big fan of soap titles that say something.
  8. Agreed. She is a solid actor who was saddled with a character the show didn’t bother to adequately redeem. Any love Babe received was ENTIRELY due to Havins performance. Babe, on paper, was a monster.
  9. Ashley Jones IN as Taylor. Why not? She looks the same age as RB and it's not like logic ever mattered on this show.
  10. Trying to get those last gasp handful of Guiding Light viewers! If Tom Pelphrey wasn't Mr. Kaley Cuoco and consistently employed they'd be knocking on his door to play Dante.
  11. Whoever decided to include that clip of Mo throwing that envelope must hate him. It looks like when you try to make a paper airplane go real fast.
  12. This was easy to ascertain from the joint interview she had with Lane. And she’s right, what we’ve seen so far have been very dull dialogue wise. How old are Chase and Brook Lynn supposed to be? Because they’re written as Young Marrieds but the actors are like 40 and with SORAS Brook Lynn should be too. This might be her first marriage but she’s not 25.
  13. Anna also spent the hour basically convincing Dex to not turn in Sonny because Sonny’s family might get hurt. She’s making zero sense as a character right now. She’s spent three months explaining her new stance on Sonny but now that she has his dead to rights she pulls back? It’s frustrating. I think Amanda Setton and that guy have a good rapport onscreen, they just have no romantic chemistry. I feel no desire from them. But most of the couples on this show lack desire and passion. Nina and Drew are the only “couple” who act like they want to fück each other. Everyone else is very “guess I have to kiss my coworker today!”.
  14. I knew something was up when we had those string of QVC (or whatever that network is called on the show) episodes. They felt like filler and were some of the worst daytime I have ever seen. No, television.
  15. Well this is whiplash. I am so confused as to how we got here. How do you hire a new headwriter team with no story to tell? I know Y&R did it a few years ago but that was weird and should’ve remained an outlier. Jason returned with nothing to do, he barely interacts with his family and friends. I hate the guy but for viewers who tuned in to see him, this is not what they want to see. There isn’t a single story on the show that has forward momentum, there is nothing to anticipate. So it’s been clear to me for a few weeks now that behind-the-scenes drama was causing the show to basically be in a holding pattern. That’s why we have had several episodes dedicated to things like Sasha being a cook and Gregory repeatedly going in depth about his illness with anyone who will listen. I feel sad for the show because this was their last great hope (that they didn’t give a chance because of what appears to be egos). I will miss the characters speaking more intelligently and judging Sonny for his crimes. What’s the over under on Sonny being the patron saint of Port Charles again?
  16. I've thought this for years. I will never understand how they've become the faces of the show. And I don't think the show would lose much viewership if Sonny got a nice little exit story and the rest of the show was actually good.
  17. And they can use her in marketing materials. "3 time Emmy winner Sarah Brown returns to daytime!" They'd be smart to get daytime legends and not a bunch of TP castoffs.
  18. I asked you this the other day (which you ignored), I wonder which soap operas Beau DeMayo watched as a kid. Because the argument between Scott and Jean was pure melodrama. The best kind. Not to mention all the close-ups and Kurt explicitly mentioning American soap operas in the last episode.
  19. This show is going to need someone with passion, love and fan nostalgia for MP like the (former) showrunner of the X-Men '97 reboot to work. Paging @Vee.
  20. I think it's monumentally stupid. And Ava's not stupid. I couldn't even see Joss doing that and she is stupid. Minus the stupid stupidity of the setup I was impressed that we got to see Ava's bedroom, Sonny's bedroom and a bathroom. Y&R would've filmed all of that entirely on greenscreen. Or had Ava talk to herself about searching through Sonny's place for the pills. I refuse to believe Carly is a good boss. Someone with her disposition is not pleasant to work for. Nina probably isn't either but Carly is a mouthy and volatile, no way is she good to her employees. It's such annoying writing to make her amazing at everything.
  21. I told this to @Vee but I'd actually be into this story if Sonny was simply being seen for who he is. Because outside of not believing Jason and trusting Ava he's not acting terribly out of character. He's rude, temperamental and shutting out members of his family. I find the medication tampering to be lazy tbh. Now they can blame it all on his meds and he can go back to town hero status. I'm sure Anna will be at his door in six months begging for forgiveness.
  22. I would HAPPILY see him leave but this is so much better than whatever that was with Carly. Drew and Carly, the self-righteous town bullies. All they did was tell the other how amazing they are and yell at Nina. That and commit crimes. Donna, you said a few weeks ago that you blocked me. I didn't even expect you to see that. Listen, you ask easily Google-able questions, talk in riddles and now you're sharing questionable links. You cannot be this obtuse.
  23. Doesn't he start whining whenever the writers try to take Sonny in new direction or have him lose? I know that was the case 10-15 years ago.
