GH: June 2026 Discussion Thread
In case anyone missed it, Sheri Anderson did a long interview on Michael Fairman yt, June 11, in which she talked about GH, Days, and soap writing in general. There's a whole section in which she discusses writing Luke raping Laura. That she was ordered to write it, why, what was cut, the aftermath, etc. She says that for years, she had defended the longterm Luke&Laura arc; but now simply says it was rape and it was wrong. That's a very poor summarization -- she goes on for a long time about all of it, and it's better to hear it directly from her in her own words. There's an entire thread on her interview: Link to Sheri Anderson June 2026 interview thread

I was watching GH only sporadically in recent years so I missed that Ryan had impersonated Kevin with Laura and he did that with with Ava? Or maybe I did see it but chose to block it out. It's all just so eewww.

Ratings From the 90's
Not exactly sure where to put this. It's about the Ricki Lake show. I thought about putting this in the "CBS Daytime" thread, but she was mostly syndicated. Looked for a thread on "cancelled syndicated daytime talk shows" but found only a game show thread. I posted this in the "general retro soaps" thread but this isn't a soap, so maybe it belongs here instead? Since she aired in the 1990s, and this is a 1990s thread, here you go: April 2026 podcast by Maury Povich, where Ricki Lake is the guest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyY1zRFFL4w

Y&R: June 2026 Spoilers
This part really annoyed me: Diane awakens and enters the room shown in above spoiler pics. She notices some books by Alan Laurent on the shelf. (remember the twin psychiatrist(s) that manipulated Traci and Ashley). Really JG, you're already doing a variation on your recent psycho psychiatrist storyline? Is "Dr. Laurence Markham" connected to Alan's twin "Martin Laurent" ? The names are too similar. At least Diane sees the books, and remembers who that is, and says wtf. One of the Laurent twins kept Phyllis and Sharon captive. And just in the prior episode (June 12 USA, June 11 Canada), Phyllis and Sharon talked about the trauma from that experience. Yeah it's got to be connected.

Yeah the Lulu-Cassius thing was likely stopped due to Maxie no longer on canvas. Sad the show wouldn't care about Lulu being violated more than once. But whatever the reason, I'm glad it's (hopefully) done.

GH: June 2026 Discussion Thread
The whole impersonation-rape storyline idea on soaps has really bothered me ever since Victor Newman paid a Jack Abbott look-alike to pretend to be Phyllis' husband and have sex with her for weeks or months. It was so gross. So I started looking up the real-life laws on it.

GH: June 2026 Discussion Thread
There is the larger issue (of which we soap viewers are all too aware) . . . that a few jurisdictions are fuzzy or unclear with specific laws when the rapist impersonates another person, and the victim consented to be with the person it seemed to be, but didn't consent to sexual contact with the actual perpetrator. It's called "rape by deception", "rape by fraud", or "rape by impersonation". There have been some laws enacted in recent years in some states. https://web.archive.org/web/20230227150133/https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/23/well/mind/is-sex-by-deception-a-form-of-rape.html

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
I noticed that each youtube video has the episode number within its description. Then knowing the episode number, you can use @JAS0N47 info to learn the original airdate. Jason's episode number -airdate index https://www.jason47.com/days/episodeguideindex.html

DAYS: Sony to begin releasing previous seasons on YT?
The ericole youtube episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k8bezSRmlM is episode 8260, airdate Friday March 28, 1998. Ericole first met in a prior episode (also when she was his waitress, in same wardrobe). That was Ari Zucker's debut, episode 8240, airdate Friday February 27, 1998. (Nicole tells him here she started waitressing there "about a month ago" but Feb.27 was the character's and actress' first airdate.)

BTG: June 2026 Discussion Thread
From my memory (which could be wrong): I think it was mentioned in dialogue during first few months of the show - that Dani had become a famous model as a teen, something about her leaving high school (maybe going to New York?). Something about Anita realizing that it was useless to oppose Dani, or something implied along those lines. Sorry to be vague and imprecise. This was more my impression of what I viewed, how it struck me, but not an exact quote. It would be interesting for me to rewatch now and see if I perceived it correctly.

Is the picture of Victor getting into an elevator, is that a Y&R set filmed in LA and spliced into BTG? or is it supposed to be a hotel hallway somewhere ?

BTG: June 2026 Discussion Thread
Near the beginning of the June 9 BTG episode, Victor was on BTG but on what looked like a Y&R set (?) He's in his tuxedo and talking on his phone, as he pushes an elevator button. He says "I'll be touching down at the DMV shortly." The elevator door opens, and he gets in while telling the person on the phone "Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing my friends at Fairmont Crest. Well, you know the Duprees, they throw a hell of a party. I am looking forward to a great night, yeah." My imagination/guess would be that Victor's private pilot flew him on the Newman jet directly to a private airfield in the DMV area, where Victor has a Newman Enterprises helicopter stored, and his staff was told ahead of time to prepare to fly him via that helicopter from the private airfield to Fairmont Crest. On Y&R, Cane has a private train on every continent, so I can imagine Victor having a fleet of Newman helicopters in major cities. Victor bribes people to do whatever, so I'd bet he would pay the helicopter pilot a huge bonus(bribe) to get him out of Fairmont Crest in a hurry, despite the tornado.
