  1. Hours extended at 9 precincts in eastern Arizona county https://apnews.com/live/trump-harris-election-updates-11-5-2024#00000192-ff4d-df8c-a7fb-ff4ff1200000 A judge has ordered polling places to remain open two extra hours in nine precincts in an eastern Arizona county following a rocky start to Election Day that included malfunctioning equipment and a lack of printed ballots. Apache County Superior Court Judge Michael Latham agreed to keep the polls open at the request of the Navajo Nation, which filed a lawsuit asking for extended hours due to the problems. Meanwhile, bomb threats to polling places at schools in neighboring Navajo County prompted some to close momentarily and one to evacuate and send students home for the day. Authorities said they received email bomb threats at four locations in Navajo County, including at least three polling sites. They determined the threats were not credible.
  2. North Carolina hasn't been called yet. Tr*mp is leading in the areas reporting, but the entire state is not definite yet. Many of the state’s most populous counties haven’t reported significant numbers of votes cast in person on or before Election Day.
  3. To keep my sanity, I'm on Paramount Plus watching random episodes from all the Star Trek series. I need the affirmation of their vision for intergalactic harmony of all sentient beings. And also watching some silly comedies. and wordless nature videos.
  4. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2n4g86dw9o Kamala Harris will spend election night at Howard University, her alma mater and a historically black university in Washington DC. The Democratic presidential nominee graduated from Howard in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in political science and economics. She has maintained close ties with the school and often describes her four years there as the most formative of her life. Howard's president, Ben Vinson III, said that it was the first time in modern history that a college campus has hosted a presidential election watch party. Classes were cancelled on Tuesday to give students the best opportunity to vote. Harris supporters gathered outside the school before the watch party began. Founded in 1867, Howard is one of the largest, and most academically rigorous, historically black universities in the country. It produces more black PhD recipients than any other university in the country and currently serves about 11,000 students.

  6. From The Guardian New Jersey Democrat Andy Kim becomes first Korean American elected to Senate. Andy Kim is the winner of New Jersey’s Senate race, the Associated Press reports, making the Democratic congressman the first Korean American elected to Congress’s upper chamber. Kim takes over from fellow Democrat Robert Menendez, who resigned his seat after being convicted of bribery charges. George Helmy, also a Democrat, was appointed to replace Menendez, but did not run for a full term.

  8. I miss the old days when the media had a standard to not report any results until ALL polls in all timezones had closed.
  9. For anyone who needs this ...
  10. On 11/4/2024 at 8:29 AM, Faulkner said: Soap stars led by Nancy Lee Grahn endorse Harris/Walz:
  11. Tyler Perry wrote all of his own shows. But he hired a writing crew for the most recent two seasons of Sistas. With Jamey Giddens now HW https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2024/09/jamey-giddens-head-writer-tyler-perrys-sistas
  12. Same. And also hoping the youth step forward to enfranchise and empower themselves to vote for a positive future for our planet Earth.
  13. Bezos made billions from amazon doing deliveries during COVID. His concern for the WaPo bottom line is truly disgusting. And, as I mentioned on another thread, Bezos is having "election night coverage" on Amazon Prime. Because it's a way for him to make money.
  14. I started following twitter during the Arab Spring when young people were discussing overthrowing repressive regimes. It was a way to communicate anonymously and bring about positive change. Now twitter is owned by someone who is endorsing the return of a repressive regime.
  15. Yes, it comes from Tony Geary referring to RC as "the writer" in a context/tone that was ... nonappreciative.
  16. There's a workaround that makes embedding tweets possible https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/67740-tweets-will-no-longer-embed/#comment-1968673
  17. Re: Hulu telling people that you can watch today's episode by letting the episode autoplay from the previous episode. Yeah I've done that with many shows on more than one streaming network -- if the current episode doesn't seem to be up, I watch the end of the prior one and the new one then loads. Especially on ParamountPlus, and sometimes on Peacock. Works for primetime episodes that seem to be uploading late, if they aren't on the menu, do that trick to get the latest.
  18. I noticed that when embedding a twitter video via "three-dots" method, the tweet frame appears then disappears, so what remains on the messageboard post is the video only without the tweet frame -- which is fine, unless you want to display the text of the tweet with its video.
  19. For embedding tweets, the easy workaround is here https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/67740-tweets-will-no-longer-embed/#comment-1968673 (same method that we currently use for embedding IG posts here)
  20. oooh That's how I embed instagram posts and facebook posts, using the three dots to get the embed code, then posted that code in the source screen, exactly with the specific sequence of steps that you described. Didn't realize that works with twitter. Thanks! Now testing with a random tweet ... yes it works! This is awesome. Thank you so much @Liberty City If anyone doesn't know what they meant by the source, back in 2022 I made some screenshots of how to do it in instagram here: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/53469-how-to-post-twitter-or-instagram-tweetspictures/#comment-1810264
