ALL: Bad Moves by Well Regarded Soap Writers/EPs
Yeah. I watched live in the early years of OLTL when it was just Victoria/Niki and no other alters. It was explained that she split into herself and Niki while worrying about family dynamics, and trying to live up to expectations, and also Victoria's concerns about Meredith. There was no internet then, and I had no idea that such vague things were unrealistic causes for the split, but that's how it was explained. (I realize that nowadays it's more well-known that DID is usually-but-not-always caused by childhood sexual abuse, and not lesser worries.) The main thing was that Viki wanted Joe and Niki wanted Vinny (Vince). Then Vince eventually learned that Niki was an alter and not her true self. Victoria went through therapy and merged with her only alter Niki Smith, and that was it. Once in a blue moon, after extreme stress, Niki would pop out but it was rare and it eventually stopped. Anyhow, back to my point, I saw Dorian kill Victor Lord, Sr. live on TV. We the viewers saw this. It might have been Dorian withholding medical care, but it amounted to intentional homicide. Victor Lord, Sr. was an arrogant controlling man but I didn't perceive of him as capable of being a child abuser. He was very high society. And after he died, we the live viewers learned that he had long ago had sex with a young woman or teen friend of Victoria's, hence the conception of Tina. That was a bit startling but believable. Tina was such a dynamic character. I didn't watch the soaps for many years, and was stunned to later learn that OLTL had retconned everything -- so that Victor Lord had sexually abused Victoria, that she now had many alters, and that Victoria had killed her father. I didn't have TV when I learned this was happening on OLTL, so I didn't see any of that storyline, but I was stunned to hear of it. That huge retcon contradicted what I'd seen Dorian do on live TV. (edited to fix my spelling)

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
November 2024 public Service announcement/suggestion For USA residents... or anyone who might be planning to visit the USA... With anti-vaxxer RFK Jr being appointed by tr*mp to become secretary of health ... Please get whatever vaccines you might need while you still can. Who knows what funding may be cut off from needed USA health programs. Your insurance company may or may not continue to pay for vaccines. Especially if you are low-income. Medicaid will likely be impacted. Who knows about Medicare. Get vaccines for anything you might need to be vaccinated for. Different requirements for different age groups. Check on needs for your current health/immunocompromised status. Check on the needs of your older relatives and friends. And the needs of any children and teens in your life. Check on tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis aka whooping cough, measles, rubella, mumps, varicella aka chickenpox, shingles, covid, influenza, RSV, pneumococcal, HPV, hepatitis, meningitis, polio. Also possibly per situation/location: dengue fever, mpox. If you are contemplating travel in the future, even if you're unsure, get whatever vaccines you might need for travel, if you can. Hey, if we can save even one life by spreading the word, I think it's worth posting this. Important: This is the CDC website, get all the information you can https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/ We know that in the prior presidency of tr*mp, a lot of government agency websites were taken down, especially those about climate, so it's possible the CDC website could be impacted. Get all the info you need NOW while it's still available. End soapbox/PSA.

BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
I was a tween and my older sister was a young adult. In summer 1969, we had begun watching OLTL and GH together. So guess I began watching OLTL when it was 11 months old. I remember watching All My Children from near its January 1970 beginning, but I was in school and there was no way to record a show. I think I watched every AMC episode the summer of 1970. So I guess you could say that's the last time I saw a soap from near its beginning, from when AMC was six months old.

Instagram embeds spilling/breaking into page
@Errol I am seeing the same as what @Maxim sees I can quote Maxim's above post which contains their screenshot, but I cannot quote Cheap21's original spillage post from the housewives thread, because the the spillage on the housewives thread covers the word "quote" within Cheap21's post where you'd click to start a quote function. The original is at this post: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/35120-bravos-the-real-housewives-of/?do=findComment&comment=1971042 I am currently on Windows 10, all the latest updates (including last night Nov. 12th major windows update), and Chrome browser latest version 131.0.6778.70 (Official Build) (64-bit) -- Fyi, Errol, your test post above with the IG of ljgriffin's abs ... that displays fine.

@Errol I know it's early but can you please try to find out if the CBS daytime people are communicating with CBS sports? Here is an update on UEFA Champions League. No word as to which matches will air on CBS broadcast TV, but these are the dates of the knockout phase. 2024-2025 European Soccer Champions League "knockout stage" https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/0287-1964b9b0f4ce-e069b2345f39-1000--2024-25-champions-league-details/ The knockout playoff is new this year: Knockout phase play-offs: Tues/Wed February 11&12, 2025 Tues/Wed February 18&19, 2025 Round of 16: Tues/Wed March 4&5, 2025 Tues/Wed March 11&12, 2025 Quarter-finals: Tues/Wed April 8&9, 2025 Tues/Wed April 15&16, 2025 Semi-finals: Tues/Wed April 29&30, 2025 Tues/Wed May 6&7, 2025 Final: Saturday May 31, 2025 In the past few years, most of the Wed&Thurs knockout phase matches (Round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals) disrupted B&B and/or Y&R, but only in Mountain and Pacific Timezones (and sometimes Alaska & Hawaii). The match coverage is live in European evenings which translated to CBS broadcast TV in these timeslots: Pre-game show 2:00-3:00 PM Eastern Soccer match 3:00-5:00 PM Eastern Total of three hours of live programming. (2pm-5pm Eastern) (1pm-4pm Central) (Noon-3pm Mountain) (11am-2pm Pacific) (10am-1pm Alaska) (8am-11am Hawaii) EDIT -- during month of March, these might differ by one hour, because the matches are live in Europe which enters Daylight Savings different week of March than USA If the March, April, and May matches all air on CBS broadcast TV, then it would impact BTG in most timezones. (in contrast to impacting Y&R in western zones only)

I had the amazing good fortune to see the Alvin Ailey company perform in the 1970s at my university. "Revelations" was something I will remember always. I just read that Barack Obama had a poster of Judith Jamison on his dorm room wall. I'm just a few years older than him, and I had a poster of Ms. Jamison on my wall, too! https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2023/aug/16/alvin-ailey-american-dance-theater-revelations-interviews Quote from Constance Stamatiou, dancer, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater: "We performed at the White House, during the Obama administration. You know, Obama is a huge fan of Ms Jamison. Apparently he had a poster of her in his dorm room in college. He was super, super nice. I remember the dogs came in and the security guards, but it was heartwarming and just friendly and really cool." https://www.instagram.com/p/DCM67qixEwq/ michelleobama Judith Jamison was a true visionary in the world of dance. From the American Ballet Theatre to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, she broke barriers and stirred souls with her grace and artistry. Over the years, Barack and I would watch her pieces for Alvin Ailey’s company whenever we could — and often brought our girls with us to see her gifts on display. We were lucky enough to host her and her dancers at the White House to showcase their extraordinary talent for the world to see. Today, Judith’s spirit will live on in all the dancers she’s inspired, in all the pieces she’s perfected, in all the audiences she has moved and uplifted. Barack and I send our love to her family, her dancers, and to all those around who looked up to her.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread

Military officials discussing how to respond to illegal orders under Trump Officials at the Pentagon are having informal discussions about what to do if Donald Trump were to give an illegal order, such as deploying the military domestically, CNN reports. They are also preparing for the possibility that he may change rules to be able to fire scores of career civil servants. On the campaign trail, Trump has mulled sending the military after his political enemies, and also to turn back migrants at the southern border. US law generally prohibits active-duty troops from being deployed for law enforcement purposes. There are also fears he could gut the civil service in the Pentagon, and replace fired staff with employees selected for their loyalty to him. Here’s more, from CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/08/politics/pentagon-officials-discussing-trump/index.html Trump has suggested he would be open to using active-duty forces for domestic law enforcement and mass deportations and has indicated he wants to stack the federal government with loyalists and “clean out corrupt actors” in the US national security establishment. Officials are now gaming out various scenarios as they prepare for an overhaul of the Pentagon. “We are all preparing and planning for the worst-case scenario, but the reality is that we don’t know how this is going to play out yet,” one defense official said. Trump’s election has also raised questions inside the Pentagon about what would happen if the president issued an unlawful order, particularly if his political appointees inside the department don’t push back. “Troops are compelled by law to disobey unlawful orders,” said another defense official. “But the question is what happens then – do we see resignations from senior military leaders? Or would they view that as abandoning their people?”- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos

Nov. 8, 2024: Stephanie Sloane for TVInsider interviews Ken Corday: https://www.tvinsider.com/1160938/days-of-our-lives-future-peacock-changes-2025/ Regarding Carlvati, Corday notes, “I just felt it was time for a different look at the show, a different foundation for the show, and a different story push. Our previous head writer had a wonderful, long run, but change is a constant and sometimes change is called for and this was a case where it was clear to me it was.”- Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
I post IGs at SON with the "embed code". I don't see the bleeding on this page of this thread. The costume designer's embedded IG isn't bleeding through to the next SON post. But I have seen the bleeding occur at other times on other SON threads, even recently, as mentioned on the support thread regarding this issue. But I cannot pinpoint a pattern as to why or when it happens. It's not a cache issue. it's a real thing. I'm on a Windows P.C. Maybe it just doesn't happen on your device. It previously happened for me when *reading* SON on my ancient Windows 7 P.C. with old out-of-date browsers. But not all the time. Now it happens for me when *reading* SON on my brand new Windows 10 P.C. with current updated browsers. But not all the time. We could discuss this further on the support thread. Back to @Faulkner's question above. It seems that the costume designer's IG embed works to quote without breaking the SON thread. Don't know why but it works fine.- The Politics Thread
https://apnews.com/article/pennsylvania-house-2024-election-frank-burns-johnstown-1fb3477611874bb4e4409c6452681e5f Pennsylvania state legislature: Democrats retained majority control of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Friday by holding onto a Johnstown area district, giving them just enough votes to keep the speakership and determine the chamber’s voting agenda. The win by incumbent Rep. Frank Burns is the final House race to be called in a year when none of the 203 districts are changing hands. It gave Democrats a 102-101 margin and dashed Republican hopes of returning to control after two years in the minority. - Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
