  1. Agreed on the opening sequence. Haven't seen Squid Game so I missed any references, but the pie-throwing seemed especially off, as it obviously wasn't spontaneous. Certainly they had to position the queen just right so the pie would land properly on the face.
  2. The thing to remember about YR's early days is that it was hobbled a few months after its March '73 debut by the writer's strike and many Watergate pre-emptions.
  3. Great finds, thanks! I just saw this blog post from Tonya Walker (GH/OLTL) on how Lilyan coached her to be a villain "As I have just received the news of Lilyan’s passing I am so struck by how much she means and meant to my life. I have always attributed my success in acting to her as well as my surviving the 80’s. Lilyan was my coach, my friend, my mother many times. Her soup, french bread , and couch made me feel at home on many occasions when I had a broken heart or was stressed from my work or personal life. When I needed to be propped up she was always there. Even now, as I beat myself for not seeing her since I moved away, I can hear her telling me to “knock it off” ...I can hear her saying, “Stop this. I know you loved me and that you were taking care of your children, husband and family.” At the same time she is quietly reminding me to take care of those who are still here and not to set myself up with regrets like this ever again. She is reminding me to make sure that I make time to see people who are special to me. We never know how long we will have to see them. With regard to acting,Lilyan taught me how to be a villain. I was always the “ingénue” until I met her. She gave me tools to use that served me notably well, as I was often recognized as “Best Villain” by magazines etc. in Daytime Television. I remember on General Hospital, I worked with her on every script. I was sure they wouldn’t take me seriously when I was supposed to be intimidating, frightening or even angry. I was afraid people would take one look at this blue eyed blonde face and laugh, thinking “You have got to be kidding!” Well, Lilyan put a stop to all that chatter and got me to focus on my strength… to find my strength, and to have true confidence in it. She did this so well in fact that I began to known for years as a formidable “Bad Girl” on Daytime Television and this has lasted for 20 years. I had to cast myself in a film I produced as a “Mom” because no one else would! I had the good fortune to know Lilyan’s mom too. No one loved their mother more than Lilyan did. She took such good care of her mother until the day she died, and took such joy in doing so. She nourished all living things…from her plants on her porch to her friends and family. I am teaching today as well as acting and producing. I think of her at every class. I only hope that I will be able to be half as good a teacher, friend, daughter, director and producer as she was… That will keep Lilyan Chauvin alive in my heart until I see her again someday. With Love, Tonja Walker
  4. Ah thank you. I just had to rewatch this entire scene, it’s so delicious
  5. And after Brooke slaps, she yells “you frickin people!!” Always makes me lol 😂
  6. Thanks for posting this rare ep! Narrowed it down to 5/16/83. WEEK OF MAY 9 - MAY 13, 1983 Neil hovered over Marie who came out of a coma but is paralyzed. Daphne blurted out that she knows Anna is a criminal. On Daphne's advice, Liz threw her gun into the river. 4451...5/16/83: Cast: Alice, Maggie, Neil, Marlena, Marie, Liz, Renee, Tony, Roman, Anna, Oliver, Daphne, Melissa, Dr. Fred Kingsley, Vito/Salem Inn Waiter. Sets: DiMera Study & Foyer, Marie’s I.C.U. Room & Corridor on 9th Floor, Liz’s Living Room, Hospital Coffee Shop, Salem Inn Dining Room, Anna & Tony’s Bedroom.
  7. You're welcome! It answered a big question I've always had, which is - what type of tasks did LPB do, as co-creator?
  8. Around 20:00, Lee Phillip Bell talks about her role in the creation of BnB, specifically the casting of the principal roles
  9. Does everyone know about the Lilyan Chauvin interviews on Youtube, circa 1989-91? LC played Pierre's sister Marianne from '73-74 and then Kay and Esther's captor Lil from '89-90. LC was also a UCLA professor and did these celebrity interviews as educational for young people looking to get into showbiz. Here's the overall playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNgU0a9tCKImJPwhT8H9icpRIPU3t8L1i YR people on the list... - Robert Clary: this was my favorite. What a life he led. He talks the most about YR, and Days too. I didn't know LC also played his sister on Days. Per Jason47's website, she played "Suzanne" on Days from 79-80. - Morey Amsterdam: this interview was probably filmed right after Morey and Lil finished their stint on YR. Another guy with a fascinating career. - Christopher Templeton: what a delightful lady. Barely talks about YR, though. - Jeanne Cooper: also barely talks about YR and has quite a few stream-of-consciousness monologues 🤣 God love her There's also a Lee Phillip Bell interview but she only talks about BnB so I'll post it there.
  10. Jill (both Deborah Adair and Brenda Dickson versions) would refer to Mamie as a servant. Interesting bc I'm sure she never would wanted her mother Liz to be referred to as a servant, even though Liz did domestic work for both Kay Chancellor and Stuart Brooks.
  11. Amazing find, thank you! I pulled up the ep, and there’s a scene with Melissa, Pete and Chris at Shenanigans. There’s a few extras milling in the background and one of them looks like it could be her.
  12. Hi @JAS0N47 I just read this article about a Pentagon official Susan Escallier who, coincidentally, was an extra in a bar scene on Days. Maybe around 1983? Susan was born the week Days debuted, and she was an extra her freshman year of college. The Times article references an original article, that might have more details. I tried googling but didn’t find anything. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/04/us/politics/susan-escallier-sept-11-plea-deal.html?unlocked_article_code=1.XU4.YbFN.4035xRkujhX6&smid=url-share
  13. From an interview in today’s NYT with Bruce Campbell - anyone know what ep this is? “My first TV job was “Knot’s Landing.” I played some assistant to some businessman. You do a take, and [the actress] Michele Lee looks to the camera guy and goes, “Benny, good for you?” She doesn’t look to the director. Benny never didn’t give a thumbs up. Then the assistant director, without consulting the director, would move to the next shot” (Drives me nuts when they add that apostrophe to Knots!!)
  14. Eric Roberts recalls being fired from AW https://www.tvinsider.com/1156036/dancing-with-the-stars-season-33-eric-roberts-reginald-veljohnson-eliminated/ “DWTS isn’t the first show that’s given Roberts the boot. He briefly played way back in 1977 the role of Ted Bancroft on Another World for a few months until he got his walking papers. “I try not to [remember that] because that might have been the worst acting in my career,” he recalls. “I sucked! I’m my biggest fan – don’t get me wrong.” Roberts says the stint was so long ago, he doesn’t recall much about the experience – but he remembers what led to his departure. “The producer [Paul Rauch] called me into his office after I’d been there for a while, and he asked, ‘Are you a writer?’” Roberts recalls. “I said, ‘No.’ He asked, ‘Why are you re-writing your dialogue?’ I said that I don’t re-write my cues for other actors. I was 19. He said, ‘If you do that again, I’ll fire you.’ A few months later, I changed a few words. He fired me!” “I liked him,” Roberts hastens to add. “He fired me, but I liked him.”
  15. Thanks for the heads-up. I went to Paramount+ and thought something was wrong with my subscription. How was the special Sharon episode? Were there any rare and precious clips?
  16. Thank you so much! If Amy Lewis can return - then so can Ron Becker!!
  17. According to IMDB, Mary Sheldon subbed as Donna Logan for a few eps in 1991. Does anyone happen to know the episode numbers? Before that, Mary Sheldon played Nan on YR from 1989-90. Nan was the birth mother of Carol and Skip’s baby.
  18. NYT gift article profile of the Plex network https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/28/movies/plex-streaming-service.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Gk4.Jx1Y.yCZstVM8vwvK&smid=url-share (Why isn’t Knots included in their list of highlights
  19. KM was on Dirty Soap in 2011, saying she figured GH would be canceled at some point in the near future, and she knew she had to diversify her income. She was shown going to conventions, looking for licensing opportunites IIRC So - she's had 13 years to prepare for no longer having GH.
  20. I started watching the original air mid-season 5, at 12 years old 😊 and I stuck it out until the bitter end. What kept me gripped to KL through season 8 was this feeling in the air… a tension… unseen malevolent forces… manipulating and threatening these characters’ lives, who I’d grown to care so much about. Season 9: as mentioned, the Peter murder story resolves in a most underwhelming way. And from there – the tension just completely deflates. The urgency pushing the stories forward was not there for me anymore. The Laura death was a quality distraction from this, but once the funeral was over, we were back to the same situation. Mid-season 9: Jill starts some odd behavior.. consulting a handwriting expert; splicing together recordings of Ben’s voice. This was a turn back in the right direction. Jill’s story accelerated to the unparalleled Jill/Val season 9 finale sequence, and continued well into season 10, bringing back some of that classic Knots I was missing. But the other stories around that time just didn’t compare. I was so excited for Peter Reckell’s debut, and what a bust that turned out to be. The Williams started out strong but faded into the background. Abby vacillated back and forth on whether to be a “good person”. The other lead story for the s9 finale was Michael and Paige’s peril in Mexico, and wow, did that pale in comparison to Jill and Val. From then on forward, I watched every week, every season, hoping in vain for a solid return to the classic Knots, and it never happened for me. There were some bright moments, like LPL as Linda. Season 14 really did a decent job of wrapping things up. To sum up, peak Knots for me ended for me after Laura’s death, with a brief return-to-form thanks to Jill and Val.
  21. I think Victor might have been shown to have deep feelings for Lorie. After she dumps him at the altar, Victor goes through a mourning period in Aug ‘82, with Douglas comforting him.
  22. I remember being excited in ‘88 to read that Judith Light’s husband was joining Knots Landing, but I found Robert Desiderio to be a real snore as Ted.
  23. Loved the story, except for the rushed unsatisfying resolution with no lasting repercussions.
