  1. So young 😢 He created so many treasured moments on YR and Knots
  2. Agreed overall re: Max, though it does currently have 2 very hot new shows - The Pitt and White Lotus s3
  3. Baby YRFan1983 could only dream 3 decades ago of having the full archive to access at a moment’s notice!! 🥰
  4. Nice Eric Braeden interview reflecting on 45 years https://www.tvinsider.com/1174994/young-and-the-restless-eric-braeden-house-fire-45-years-victor-newman-interview/
  5. Yes… from DS9 to Homicide, to later True Blood, where she played a witch or demon or something. My favorite scene was her serving guests “Hunter’s Pie”, an enchanted meal composed of chopped-up human bits.
  6. Detailed BTG profile in NYT (gift article link) https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/arts/television/beyond-the-gates.html?unlocked_article_code=1.uk4.ZITu.8_UHk19zRzIA&smid=url-share
  7. yrfan1983 replied to Errol's topic in SOAPSLINE
Thank you Errol and Toups for creating and maintaining this wonderful soap portal.
  8. My stomach sank when Jack Wagner debuted as Nick. I could tell he was being set up as the front-burner alternate love interest for Brooke. I knew that the focus would be on him and that it would cause me to stop watching, which indeed it did. IIRC Nick was grumpy and not charismatic at all. No chemistry with KKL but we viewers were supposed to be enchanted.
  9. Thank you @Alan! There's lots of great nuggets in these mags, like Doug Davidson saying that Anthony Edwards played Patty's boyfriend Jeff on YR for a few eps in spring '81
  10. Poor Jennifer Finnegan! I’m sure she was dying for the end of her 3 year contract
  11. Thanks for these invaluable recaps Jason47!
  12. Imagine that the children of summer '74 were exposed to Kay sleeping with stable boy Jeff and Gwen prostituting herself out of her apartment!! 🤣
  13. It's a very fun and diverse group of queens so I am also excited!
  14. Agreed on the opening sequence. Haven't seen Squid Game so I missed any references, but the pie-throwing seemed especially off, as it obviously wasn't spontaneous. Certainly they had to position the queen just right so the pie would land properly on the face.
  15. The thing to remember about YR's early days is that it was hobbled a few months after its March '73 debut by the writer's strike and many Watergate pre-emptions.
  16. Great finds, thanks! I just saw this blog post from Tonya Walker (GH/OLTL) on how Lilyan coached her to be a villain "As I have just received the news of Lilyan’s passing I am so struck by how much she means and meant to my life. I have always attributed my success in acting to her as well as my surviving the 80’s. Lilyan was my coach, my friend, my mother many times. Her soup, french bread , and couch made me feel at home on many occasions when I had a broken heart or was stressed from my work or personal life. When I needed to be propped up she was always there. Even now, as I beat myself for not seeing her since I moved away, I can hear her telling me to “knock it off” ...I can hear her saying, “Stop this. I know you loved me and that you were taking care of your children, husband and family.” At the same time she is quietly reminding me to take care of those who are still here and not to set myself up with regrets like this ever again. She is reminding me to make sure that I make time to see people who are special to me. We never know how long we will have to see them. With regard to acting,Lilyan taught me how to be a villain. I was always the “ingénue” until I met her. She gave me tools to use that served me notably well, as I was often recognized as “Best Villain” by magazines etc. in Daytime Television. I remember on General Hospital, I worked with her on every script. I was sure they wouldn’t take me seriously when I was supposed to be intimidating, frightening or even angry. I was afraid people would take one look at this blue eyed blonde face and laugh, thinking “You have got to be kidding!” Well, Lilyan put a stop to all that chatter and got me to focus on my strength… to find my strength, and to have true confidence in it. She did this so well in fact that I began to known for years as a formidable “Bad Girl” on Daytime Television and this has lasted for 20 years. I had to cast myself in a film I produced as a “Mom” because no one else would! I had the good fortune to know Lilyan’s mom too. No one loved their mother more than Lilyan did. She took such good care of her mother until the day she died, and took such joy in doing so. She nourished all living things…from her plants on her porch to her friends and family. I am teaching today as well as acting and producing. I think of her at every class. I only hope that I will be able to be half as good a teacher, friend, daughter, director and producer as she was… That will keep Lilyan Chauvin alive in my heart until I see her again someday. With Love, Tonja Walker
  17. Ah thank you. I just had to rewatch this entire scene, it’s so delicious
  18. And after Brooke slaps, she yells “you frickin people!!” Always makes me lol 😂
  19. Thanks for posting this rare ep! Narrowed it down to 5/16/83. WEEK OF MAY 9 - MAY 13, 1983 Neil hovered over Marie who came out of a coma but is paralyzed. Daphne blurted out that she knows Anna is a criminal. On Daphne's advice, Liz threw her gun into the river. 4451...5/16/83: Cast: Alice, Maggie, Neil, Marlena, Marie, Liz, Renee, Tony, Roman, Anna, Oliver, Daphne, Melissa, Dr. Fred Kingsley, Vito/Salem Inn Waiter. Sets: DiMera Study & Foyer, Marie’s I.C.U. Room & Corridor on 9th Floor, Liz’s Living Room, Hospital Coffee Shop, Salem Inn Dining Room, Anna & Tony’s Bedroom.
  20. You're welcome! It answered a big question I've always had, which is - what type of tasks did LPB do, as co-creator?
  21. Around 20:00, Lee Phillip Bell talks about her role in the creation of BnB, specifically the casting of the principal roles
  22. Does everyone know about the Lilyan Chauvin interviews on Youtube, circa 1989-91? LC played Pierre's sister Marianne from '73-74 and then Kay and Esther's captor Lil from '89-90. LC was also a UCLA professor and did these celebrity interviews as educational for young people looking to get into showbiz. Here's the overall playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNgU0a9tCKImJPwhT8H9icpRIPU3t8L1i YR people on the list... - Robert Clary: this was my favorite. What a life he led. He talks the most about YR, and Days too. I didn't know LC also played his sister on Days. Per Jason47's website, she played "Suzanne" on Days from 79-80. - Morey Amsterdam: this interview was probably filmed right after Morey and Lil finished their stint on YR. Another guy with a fascinating career. - Christopher Templeton: what a delightful lady. Barely talks about YR, though. - Jeanne Cooper: also barely talks about YR and has quite a few stream-of-consciousness monologues 🤣 God love her There's also a Lee Phillip Bell interview but she only talks about BnB so I'll post it there.
  23. Jill (both Deborah Adair and Brenda Dickson versions) would refer to Mamie as a servant. Interesting bc I'm sure she never would wanted her mother Liz to be referred to as a servant, even though Liz did domestic work for both Kay Chancellor and Stuart Brooks.
