  1. Triple-whammy for YR... 1) only a 3-month-old show 2) writers's strike 3) pre-emptions Perhaps Denise Alexander having joined GH a few months prior?
  2. For as much as Bill Bell focused on "social issue" stories, the Brad-going-blind story seems like a real dud to me. Of course someone going blind would have to experience all the emotions and go through a mourning period, but blind people are productive members of society, and Brad as a former physician would have known that. Instead he is acting like his blindness would be a curse upon Leslie, destroying her growing performing career, which just isn't true. They could hire an aide to stay with Brad when Leslie is traveling. But no... The show did it much better with Hope in the 90s. Though I would have liked to have seen Hope thriving in more settings (I think we heard about her volunteering but it was offscreen) at least the writers didn't have her miraculously regain her sight, like Brad did.
  3. Cool, thank you for the perspective - helps me appreciate the story more. Totally makes sense - we know BB was so frustrated with the state of the show after its first 6 months that he was ready to cancel it.
  4. Thanks! Was anyone watching during this time? Wondering how Peggy’s rape played out onscreen. It just seems cruel to subject the Brooks family to this trauma a 2nd time. Feels like the writers have already given up on the character of Jennifer, even though she sticks around another year-plus. She should be a passionate and fierce protective mother, but instead she seems just reactionary (and not even mentioned in this recap) This was also the case in ‘73 when Chris was raped. The writers are definitely more invested Stuart as the Brooks parent.
  5. Thanks, these are great! Joanne Curtis, another soap character punished for having an abortion
  6. Are these new?! Damn, he is in the prime of his life.
  7. Thanks. Well, if things were shaky in the beginning for her, at least she had that nice paycheck.
  8. Did Denise give any interviews where she talked about her first few years on GH... '73-75? I wonder if she had any regrets leaving Days for GH, as from what I've read, the show was in the dumps writing-wise, so am thinking she didn't have great story? Any Leslie story highlights I've seen always start with '76, after Gloria Monty took charge.
  9. The funeral was not onscreen - only the Brooks returning home after the service. Not aware of any available clips.
  10. If you ever make it to the Paley Center in NYC (fka Museum of TV and Radio), in their viewing room, you can watch Days 1/1/73 featuring Denise Alexander as Susan. It’s her last month on the show before switching to GH.
  11. https://www.tvinsider.com/1188531/young-and-the-restless-new-abbott-mansion-peter-bergman-photos/ How could Peter Bergman forget that Jack lived at the Newman Ranch for over 3 years?? 🤣 All this talk about the Abbott set never being refurbished flashes me back to Deborah Adair's newlywed Jill making plan to remodel in Dec '82... but I guess she got distracted as that didn't happen. By the time Dina visits in Sept '83, she notes how the living room is exactly the same as she left it 11 years prior...
  12. Listened to podcast ep 3 - continuing to improve 👍 better flow, more organized It helps to get to know the ladies. Michele is self-deprecating and also teasing to Joan and Donna. It could be off-putting, but we see J&D receive it in good fun.
  13. Thanks for the tip! Just listened to ep 2. I guess since I didn't listen to episode 1, it felt like a work in progress. It started off rough for me and I almost stopped, but the second half was better. I perked up whenever Donna spoke. She has the most pleasing speaking voice and the most compelling stories. I liked hearing how Gloria Monty cast Donna as a nightclub singer on the Secret Storm (even though she couldn’t sing!) and how Donna and Michele navigated an off-screen “tiff” during season 2. Near the end, they started to talk about having Knots costars on future eps… but then said that won’t happen for awhile bc they want listeners to get to know the 3 of them first… then, I’m not kidding, they pivoted to “What’s in your refrigerator” !! I was like, noooooo, we want co-stars, not your refrigerator 🤣 If they won’t have Knots costars on yet, and if this isn’t a full-on consecutive episode rewatch podcast, they could at least rewatch and spotlight key eps… like the first 3 eps of season 3 “Sid dies and the funeral”. Now is the time with Knots on Amazon again. Looks like ep 3 just dropped… I’m rooting for them!
  14. I’m always scouring the internet for any sign of life of my beloved Deborah Adair 😆 She’s been off the grid since 1995 I saw her husband Chip Hayes was on the Melrose Place rewatch podcast “Still the Place” on 1/5/25, and I loved MP back in the day, so I gave it a listen. I was expecting at least a little mention of DA, since she recurred on the first season, while Chip was a producer on MP. I didn’t understand why they didn’t mention her at all, until near the end when Chip made a brief mention of “my ex-wife Deborah” 😕 so, guess they’re not together any more. Also sad of note, I came across an obituary for her daughter Lucy Hayes, who passed at 26 in 2021 😕 DA and Chip adopted Lucy soon after DA left the role of Kate on Days. Of general soap interest… Chip talked about knowing soap writer Chuck Pratt since high school… Chuck won an Emmy for Santa Barbara, then started writing for MP. Chip talked about MP struggling in the ratings in season 1, and how Chuck’s “soapy” sensibility juiced up the stories (like Marcia Cross’ Kimberly being back-from-the-dead, and taking off her secret wig to reveal a giant nasty scar…) After MP, Chip says he was a writer for AMC for 10 years, under head writer Chuck Pratt. I think the folks on the Classic AMC thread don’t have the best opinion of Chuck…
  15. I want Laura to live!! 🙏
  16. Thanks… I love these glimpses of Joyce. Very fascinating person wrestling with her insecurities… feels like someone real. Who can’t relate to not being invited to a party you want to go to? There’s 4 minutes of Guiding Light at the end of the ‘78 ep. I recognize Mike and Elizabeth and Katie, but not the blonde guy in the suit or the two people at the very end.
  17. I love you @ChickenNuggetz92
  18. How can BnB afford this remote when the ratings are so low? Are there higher ratings in other countries to generate the needed revenue?
  19. Can you name all the soaps in the pictures at 4:40 in this SNL skit? https://youtu.be/BgYOkcA3wtY?si=8nIVEeNM5-6ehFLC Bottom row is L to R, Luke and Laura; Bo and Hope, the original ‘84 Capwells on SB Middle row, L to R, Julia and ?? AMC; Victor/YR; ??? (Do I see Vincent Irizarry); ??? Top row, L to R, ???; Alan, Elizabeth and Mike on GL, I think?
  20. I know, his voice is so high 😆
  21. @Errol have you talked to Timon yet? @BoldRestless and I figured out the YR eps he appeared on - 6/7 and 6/8/04. If he needs them, we could figure out a way to get him the episode files.
  22. Somehow let's figure out in what episode Timon Kyle Durrett played an orderly in 2004! And then maybe somehow Errol can get him access to view the episode, since he never was able to see the full thing 😕 https://www.tvinsider.com/1183656/beyond-the-gates-bill-hamilton-timon-kyle-durrett-interview/
